World Drop Farming Compendium (ilvl 28 BoEs)

My two 24s sit idle 99.9% of the time now (I used to pull more with my haste ice lance mage, but found the monk had 40 yard lightning LOL--I'm very lazy learning new toons).

Stats from farming by myself:
1 hour felskorn - 3/6/2021

the amount of greens you get on your lootbot 24s seems rather high compared to the numbers i've been getting :/

how many mobs per hour do you kill you recon?

I just tried testing 1 hour of felskorn myself:

60:
junk greens: 22
relics: 3

socket: 1
epic : 1

24:

relics: 1
boxes: 3
socket: 1
epic: 0

20:
junk greens: 13
relics:2
socket: 1

epic: 0

I get that rng is rng but 10 more greens on average? compared to your 1 hour is a noticeable difference in loot.

I'm not doing mob tagging of any sorts on my low lvls, they're just agro & loot bots.

I'm really curious to know if this is solo farming or with someone else pulling, cause I was putting in work pulling with lightning on my monk solo grinding, so getting that much more loot confuses me :|

I guess ill have to put in some more hours to see if I'm either being unlucky or if you're being lucky or just being more effecient in your grinding.

Again, mobs per hour would be nice to know.

Didn't see your addon mention til after my second hour of keeping track.

I think it's around 11 felskorn mobs that I wipe the floor with every 15-20 seconds (as I use chi wave each rotation--cooldown 15 seconds, so right around the 15-20 second mark). I skip the one mob way over by the dragon to save time. So 33 per minute = 1,980 kills.

I think when there are more players in the zone, the mobs spawn faster. The opposite may be true too. There have been times early in the day where it oddly mucks up the spawning. Then only 2 or 3 mobs appear "out of order" in much longer intervals. This has happened to me in Stormheim, Highmountain and Azsuna.

I'm really curious to know if this is solo farming or with someone else pulling,

I always just park my monk on the statue and use rushing jade wind while I pull with the lowbie(s). If I need more AoE then just a circle crane kick usually finished them off. Some mobs have more health than others too, so it varies.

Also... what/where are you farming? I prefer the skovald in stormheim, but recently am doing the kobolds in highmountain cuz i needed iron relics. Other than those I dont bother except particular invasion quests that suit my method.

I skip the one mob way over by the dragon to save time.

I just park the statue in the lower camp and pull the 4 you can reach from the huge telephone pole, the statue usually taunts those 4 off the lowbie and into the monk AoE. I noticed the screwy spawns myself, tend to use those to clean bags.

How often to loot is a question i have myself, I always worry i might lose something to a corpse despawn lol. If you're piling up bodies, every 20 seconds or so (quicker to be safe). But I guess loot them all around the same time?

Yeah, same worry here. I'm pretty sure they give 1-2 minutes to loot. Sometimes I tag a mob far away and another player kills the mob out of my loot zone. Feels like the sparkly dead body disappears in 1-2 minutes (I'm too lazy to trot all my guys over there).

I normally loot once a minute. Sometimes I'm forgetful and the bodies pile high, end up having to click dead bodies twice to loot everything.

Same.... but I never kept an eye on it yet cuz I'm too busy trying to spread the damage. Gonna stop that next time. ;)

it's nice looting a huge pile cuz it feels like there's gonna be tons of greens coming... and then it's 3 cloth an coin... then I kill 3 mobs and get 2 greens. It is what it is, i guess.

Today's two hours was solo farming. Other times there's 2 or 3 of us for higher throughput.

It's going on 3 months of BoE farming for me, so pretty much have a set pattern for peak efficiency. And 16 years of playing WoW helps too. ;)
[doublepost=1615089807,1615074731][/doublepost]My kill numbers aren't far off from yours:

I was at 30-31 kills a minute at the start, but people wanted to chat :p and I also wasted some time vendoring greys to make bag space.

So yeah, your loot numbers are a ways off from mine. I guess run yours a few more hours to see if drop rate increases. Only thing I can think of is level 60 affecting the rate negatively, but that doesn't make much sense to penalize having a level 60 along.

Think I found out the main problem was my looting patterns.. honestly wasn't aware the loot windows only lasted 1½-2mins tops? Idk how many times I've looted between the 3-5 min mark so yeah.. I've probably lost a lot of loot this way, oh well live and learn. Luckily I haven't been solo farming for BoE's very long.

Had some better results the 2nd hour with looting more frequently as well as replaceing the statue else where. Previously I had placed it on the pathway around wagon and the three tree stumps between the two camps, but It made looting and moving my lowbies around very annoying as I had them placed +20 yards away from the statue to agro mobs into jade lightning range.

Still have no clue how you manage to pull +1900 mobs a hour solo, though I guess we won't know the excact number untill you decide to get a addon for it. I can see it being plausible if you run between the two camps on your monk, granted we're both talking about the Felskorn Camp where Dravax / Vethir is. But doing so would spread out the loot a lot and make it rather annoying to loot with your 24s?

Maybe I'll eventually figure it out myself if I end up grinding for 3 months lol..

Anyway here's my results from my 2nd hour:

socket: 4

20
junk greens: 28

Think 1500-1600 mobs per hour is probably around the limit for me, as I don't want to use my full attention on this braindead grind without being able to watch something on the side :|

Best of luck to people who's still farming, may the RNG be with you.

Edit:
Here we go again with the bad timing on postings lol <.<

Awesome that you found the cause!

Yeah, from a programming standpoint, it probably makes sense to not allow dead bodies to continue to exist for a long period.

I place the statue and my level 24s right about here:
felskorn_camp.jpg

I do little ticks of lightning, chi wave, or taunt to pull mobs near the statue then aoe. I don't move the level 24s at all.

I just set up a little lower, and dont move at all. Only two mobs I dont tag from there, plus the big one.

Red circle is the 24 puller. Usually pull and loot each time i swap to that screen.

And here's the kobold camp near skyhorn. I'm a lot more active there, pulling everything in a 50-60 yard radius.

anyone who's farmed kobolds a lot who's had issues with respawns? I've been messing around with it for a few sessions and the first 15-20 mins the respawns are super good, but then it just comes to a dead end not even doing a full respawn in 10 mins of waiting.

When that happ3ns theres usually a mob you havent noticed. Ghat keeps wandering around hindering your hyperspawn. Theres quite a big area for solo in skyhorn. But i also seem to get more luck there. So defo a soot worth doing.

sorta tl;dr post sorry in advance :|

I've been grinding a bit too much lately due to having the extra time cause of covid downtime, though I hit a brickwall and need a break and figured i'd try share some info & help to those who want to try out their luck grinding kobolds.

be aware though that this post involves farming & killing with a 60 monk using statue so it might not be ideal to those who only have 24s available to grind with.

some statictics:

duo farming:

solo farming:
Hxpo0oG.png

I haven't really been bothered to try keep track of the loot drops because of inventory issues which usually happens after 40 minutes of grinding. It's a bit of a hazzle manouvering 3 chars around and to sort through loot so I usually just reset the timer afterwards when solo, but it should give you an idea of the kills per hour at least.

our setup for duo farming:
60 monk
2x 24 mages
2x 20 dk + hunter

we figured we'd just bring our 20s to try our luck for 20 epics rather than leaving the spots empty or bringing in fillers from different realms to steal our drops ._.

this might look a tad silly as my paint skill's are pretty bad lol.. but hopefully it gets the job done:

SRaD85u.jpg

Skull = Statue. The monk stands here and pull the mobs at yellow/water ele.
Purple = Mage puller in range of statue agro.
Green = Hunter Pet in range of red arrowhead spawn to agro it into pull range of the mage.
Blue = Mage pet used to pull with ranged nova to agro into range of the mage.
Red = AFK Looter used to agro the mobs into statue range, if you have a 3rd person placing a puller here would be ideal.
Yellow = Mage pet to agro mobs around the ramp into jade lightning range.
Moon = the monk will pull the mobs around this area
Orange = Mage uses blizzard to agro mobs into statue range & monk helps at times too.

you want to make sure you place the statue in agro range of the yellow arrowhead spawn, because much like the red spawn it is very easily overlooked as the mobs hug into the lamp post-thing making them annoying to pull manually.

we never touched or pulled the two mobs at the orangestars around the rock or tent fyi.

surprisingly you're more or less able to pull the same numbers solo farming as when you duo from my experience, it's just a lot of work and you'll be moving around in a 20 yard? radius of your statue to pull everything. compared to solo grinding felskorn this spot is much more active-grinding vs. slack-grinding so it's a matter of preference, but the 400-600? mobs per hour difference is noticeable.

If you don't have the luxury of having afk looter alts with pets at your disposal when solo grinding, don't worry too much. it's only really a quality of life thing and most of the time if you're fast enough you'll be pulling the mobs before they agro to the pets anyway.

that's it I think? one last tip would be to do yourself the favour and turn off WoW dialog sounds before comming to this spot..

Ickinicka! <.<

Happy farming & gl with the drops!

Does the game check the quality of a worn item when giving a quest reward that can be worn (in that slot)? Can you increase the chances for a such a quest reward item to upgrade (from rare to epic, in particular) by putting on a grey item before turning the quest in? Or is it all just completely random shmandom?
