BlizzConline Online 2021 (Spoilers, leak, discussion)

Clone Service anounced: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/wowclassic Gotta pay pr. character cloned tho
Even better!

I really gotta catch up and do Classic, now.

I dicked around and got like every class to 30, couldn't figure out a main, and went back to F2P. Then stopped playing and spent like 6,000 hours on Animal Crossing...........

You know, one vice for another. It's been rough since Chops took away my amphetamines.

Tbh, included in those "some changes" is having it launch with Pre-Nerf Vashj, and also when Sunwell hits having it pre-nerf M'uru.

That's not exactly a bad thing, or really a change.

Just to summarize after watching the "Whats Next for WoW Classic"
  • TBC announced (duh)
  • No official release date, but Beta will be soon™
  • You can level draenei and belfs with prepatch
  • All existing classic servers will progress to TBC servers
  • At prepatch you get the option with each character to stay on the server and progress to TBC or move to a "Classic Era" server that will stay on the current Classic patch forever. They didn't mention when you had to make this decision, all they said was that "We havn't locked it to a time window. If you're behind the times, you're not gonna miss the boat to Era".
  • You can also pay to clone your character to a Classic Era server and keep it on the TBC server (only once pr. character)
  • At prepatch you can buy a lvl 58 character boost (unavailable for draeneis and belfs, and only 1 boost pr. account)
  • No other paid services than realm transfer is being added so far
  • They introduced the #somechanges idea which included among other things: Seal of Blood/Vengeance for both factions (you get the opposing faction seal at 70), arena team rosters being twice the size of the bracket instead of only the size of the bracket, some raid bosses being pre-nerf.

All in all, a really underwhelming Blizzcon.

9.1 is months away (release in summer?) and contains pretty much nothing terribly interesting (a raid, an instance, some quests, meh). No signs of changes to live 9.0 (which isn't feeling well, just in case, there are multiple big issues, and yeah, changes in 9.0.5 are a step forward and a step back, they aren't fixing anything). Worse, they apparently think that "the systems are working fine, we feel like we don't need to make any drastic changes in the first patch this time". LOL. Completely delusional, SL is shaping up to fight BFA and WOD for the title of the worst addon in history. Maybe there will be something on changes to live 9.0 today but I wouldn't be holding my breath.

Not into Classic, I guess those who are were happy to hear news about TBC, but for retail WoW it's pretty empty so far.

I might be selfish in this opinion, but I think a "Fresh TBC server" or a "Limited Gold Cap" would have been a great option. There are a lot of genuine concerns surrounding game economies and this would have appealed to a lot of players.

What are peoples thoughts on this topic?

I feel like the idea of Fresh TBC and Gold cap is interlinked. The reason people want Fresh TBC is because they are afraid that the fucked economy of classic is gonna carry over in TBC, otherwise they could just do their own "fresh TBC" and lvl a new alt from lvl 1. Now regarding the economy, there is no denying that it is fucked, however, I don't think a gold cap is the solution. The people havin thousands and thousands of gold would just be delayed a few months by a gold cap. Gold cap isn't gonna permanently fix anything, only delay it for a few months, maybe even weeks. The only thing that would truly fix it is Blizzard actually contering botting, which probably wont happen.

Another point is, that afaik gold isn't as important in TBC as it is in Classic. You dont need several hundred gold a week just to raid casually. Gold will be slightly important at start for some crafted gear, and then ofc for your flying mount. So while an inflated economy is never a good thing, I don't think it will be as big of a problem in TBC as it has been in late Classic.

Yeah, this is the shittiest blizzcon I've experienced so far. We basically know as much as we did before Blizzcon. There is no ETA, nothing. There wasn't even any proper cinematics except for Hearthstone

nah, I would like people to have use for their naxx gear, especially https://classic.wowhead.com/item=22589/atiesh-greatstaff-of-the-guardian in TBC (the portal to kara)

I am 50-50 with the gold. Don't really like the idea how most likely everyone will buy 280% flying speed (5000g unless druid) directly. BUT it's also really easy to get gold in TBC by just doing daily quests

I've never particularly cared for the gold grinding or playing the AH and yes, I raided quite successfully in TBC (and was funding my first twinks! which were expensive because i kept fucking up) just doing dailies and maybe a little casual mat farming on the weekends. Gold as a sort of "time gate" (I guess you could think of it that way?) wasnt as bad in TBC.

Why not an option to COPY the character over to BC after about 2 months into the release?
