short guide to a day 1 first time 50

hi! is there any big downside if I level the BFA zones from lvl 10 (so i get the questing achievements for pathfinder) with my new upcoming lvl 50 twink? Isn't it only some Artifact Power I get while killing a rare here and there? From my experience that wouldnt be a problem, I mostly do Emissary quests and missions for Artifact Power and imo it gets so slow at some point anyways that the small amount of rares doesnt really matter. Am I forgeting anything? Thanks :)

yeah youll be fine. there is a rare that drops a set bonus of 5% speed for clothies, you might want to save those for lvl 50, to hope for a speed proc there. but other than that, its fine to level in bfa. youll get reputation along the way and the azerite wont matter, because if you remember, nazjatar essence questline will give your neck a boost to rank 50

thanks for the quick answer! can you tell me the name of that set? never heard about that.

pretty sure the bonus stacks with other speed buffs that stack

1 time loot on this set items, they can roll speed+socket. GL!

actually. you want to loot the boots so they are ilvl 50. so maybe like level 40-42. that way you can apply https://www.wowhead.com/item=38837/enchant-boots-minor-speed to them, which also stacks with everything!

So, I went Alch / Engi with my WL and im just wondering which tinkers are worth it? I read that Nitro boosts fail often and some other tinkers might be not that good after scaling. What is worth it and do the polymorph nades work on every enemy in a BG. it says up to lvl 50.

The grenades work.
I personally use the bfa knockback tinker.
The reusable SL soul trap and gravity scrambler items share cd with SL tinkers, so I don’t use the SL tinkers

Just saw this, and can add that WoD and legion dungeon drops frequently proc upgrades once you out-level the xpac so you can farm up a pair of speed/socket boots sub-50 for all armor types. Legion can warforge over 50 tho so, YMMV.

Even cloth, if your one shot doesnt pan out for the feet of that set. ;)

Also not 100% legion will proc tertiary, it's been a while... but totally socket at ilvl 50 (if it doesnt warforge).

@Warglave From a person who had to do a bunch of Argus a few weeks ago for the Epic JC Patts (on a 50) I can confirm that Legion drops can Socket and Tertiary. Dauntless/Baneful (or w/e they are on Argus)/random drops, etc.

@zazzyfraz thanks for this guide, I finally got around to doing it and this was immensely helpful.

Still on a SL account for now, gonna grind out some rep over the next few forevers until we find out about the honored rep item rewards for shadowlands covenants. Eventually (hopefully) I'll transfer to a BfA account and enjoy the PvP.

Regardless how it ends, this was miles more enjoyable than the 49 grind I already quit... much more to do as well.

And again on that note, same ilvl and SO much more power from level 50 compared to 49. Havent done any SL yet tho.

I'm in the same boat, just haven't made that decision to push my 49's quite yet but likely will. I have SOOOO much time in 2 of the 49's that it hurts to Level to 50 but I'm also not stupid and can see the clear and obvious benefit of going 50 vs staying 49, similarly geared.

I actually did it on a fresh 50 toon, didnt pull the trigger on the 49s yet, lol. There's investment there...

But, there's like literally nothing to do with a 49 so I guess it's just about future-proofing for the unknown. It's possible they'll be really strong next expansion... just really cant tell. I am still intrigued about the covenant rep rewards for 49 too.

edit- plus gearing up this 50 was actually fun instead of just perpetually sucking like it does at 49. Even when you get an upgrade at 49 it doesnt seem to upgrade anything, stuff still dies slow. o_O We'll see how long it lasts into SL content tho.
