49's Gear Guide (best practice) + Rares to farm

@dirtypaws Now here's something even stranger. On my 49 that's already deep into ToF and whom I'm boosting one of my 10's to get Dungeon gear I decided to try Party Sync. I enabled it from the 49's Quest Guide and within moments I got the Shadowlands intro popup (not the Quest, just Morgraine talking). I'm heading to a Dungeon now to see if the gear will scale TO 49 or not.

Alright, this in fact does work. The gear scales TO 49 but now the problem is 49's CANNOT solo old word Dungeons with any real capability. My 49 Boomkin is at iLvL 89 and ONE Elite Trash mob is impossible to solo. Interestingly enough, my 10 Resto Drood has no issue soloing the same mob and heals my 49 for like 2.5K lol.

EDIT: Another drawback is if you disable Party Sync, you have to take that low Level back to Org/SW and have Chromie send you back to normal time to continue boosting. So I guess it'll just be backwards, the 10/14/19/20's will boost the 49's now and again via Party Sync, then back to normal afterwards.

Yeah, i already resigned myself to the fact that I would be running the 49 through with a lowbie not the other way around.

49 are so crap even with great stats. When i was getting to 49 I couldnt even solo a WoD rare, due to the SL scaling once they it 48 i guess. The only thing that's even mildly restored my interest is this BoE bug we got, once that gets fixed I'll dump em for good I believe. Getting an ilvl 140 weapon for a 49 is fun, grinding for an ilvl 92 vs crap scaling is simply not.

TL;DR:

• Normal UBRS gear Warforges to iLvL 48 (Epic), can proc Socket AND Tertiary
  
• Mythic UBRS gear Warforges to iLvL 49 and can proc Socket AND Tertiary
• Reasonably easy way to get max iLvL 50 gear to Enchant with Socket/Tertiary

Just found something very interesting. While doing the Quest to get Oralius' Whispering Crystal for my non-SL 49 (which has you clear UBRS) I got something that for Ele Shaman is OPAF. Tharbek's Lucky Pebble is iLvL 46 at LvL 49, gives 12 Versa and 120 Mastery for 15sec with a 1.5min CD. My Shammy has 46.53% Mastery without that proc and 68.22% with. That's a 21.69% increase for 15 seconds! For those not in the know about Elemental, if you get to 100% Mastery, you get guaranteed DOUBLE attacks for Lightning Bolt, Icefury, Lava Burst and Chain Lightning.

Here's the best part. UBRS is considered a WoD Dungeon, and thus items that drop from Dungeon Bosses can proc Tertiary/Socket/Warforged (including Epic)!

Also, there's another Trinket in there that also has a 120 Mastery on-use, Kyrak's Vileblood Serum, which can also proc Tertiary/Socket. They share only a 20sec ICD with each other. That means you can pop the 1st and get it's full 15 seconds of 120 Mastery, then 5 seconds after it expires pop another for an additional 120 Mastery for 15 seconds.

EDIT: UBRS has a Mythic mode, so technically you could get an iLvL 48 with 129 Mastery proc that could have Tertiary/Socket/Warforged.

EDIT2: I can confirm you can get Warforged (Epic) AND Tertiary on the same proc.

EDIT3: Mythic Warforges to iLvL 49 and WILL proc Socket AND Tertiary.

Edit- the WoD heroic dungeons were something I farmed for level 109 back right before they re-segregated XP off/on, at the time you could solo them on 109 due to the legacy rules and still get guaranteed drop for your spec per boss... it was weird but nice cuz it's a grind. I'll look into it again now to see whats up. good stuff.

And here is the fruit of my labors. My highest geared 49 with (6) Epics, iLvL 140 Weapons (which to be fair didn't improve my DPS much if I'm being honest over the 92/98 I had) and ~iLvL 97 overall. Fully 20K+ HP unbuffed and zero Stam Enchants/Gems. This Toon isn't my highest DPS at 49, that goes to my Hunter but for AOE farming IN Shadowlands, I have no other Twink that can perform as well as this DH.

Wait how do have 140 item items? My best geared is a hunter and shes on ilevel 82

the glaives will show level 56, but they are wearable. you have to loot them yourself or something liek that, not sure

@zazzyfraz is correct, several of the BoE Blues in SL that are from Treasures ARE equippable on a 49 IF a 49 looted them, regardless of what the TT says. So far that's the Cloak from Bastion, Shield from Maldraxxus and the Glaive from Rivendreth (means you have to loot 1 of 2 diff 49's). There may be more but that's what we've found so far.

The other issue is certain Classes get fucked out of repeatable (daily) Rare loot. Blizz stated that SL Rares would be lootable once/day, they lied. That means Classes like Hunter get ONE chance at loot for all but 1 Ring and 2 Trinkets, the ones my Hunter is wearing.

Just accidentally Que'd for SL Randon instead of Love Event. Can confirm that while you CAN Que for SL Dungeon at 49 and while it WILL form a Party, it still won't allow you to port into the Dungeon.

I can also confirm that 49's still can't access The Maw the traditional way (jumping into it from Oribos).

How high is everyones rep with the 4 zones? There is some very nice rewards which shold push you to circa 145/150ilvl at 49. Example below for the undying rep, the other 3 reps offer similar but for other slots.
I dont fancy the grind, so hopefully 9.1 will offer a rep catch-up system.

I'm sitting around Honored with each on 2 of my 49's. That's one hell of a grind considering you only have the WQ to get you there once you completed each Zone. Maybe we'll get lucky and there'll be Rep Tokens usable at 48+.

Did you notice the ilvl 164 only requires honoured? Are you able to buy and equip without issues?

dude if we're able to get those items the 48's scaling will be broken AF and we're actually be kings of World Pvp

i have a level 50 full mythic 15 druid from BFA which i use for gold farming (skinning and herbalism) and i manage to destroy people with a ilvl around 135, if we're able to equip those items we will have like around 150ilvl (its 3 - 4 slots per reputation) and we will have like 20k - 25k HP, putting scaling into perspective if we were to scale our status to 60's its something like 290ilvl in power

nobody tell blizzard about it please let us have fun first

Were these always 49? Thought I remember seeing them as 56, and the court of harvesters loot 58, and all epic items.

I have no idea, I only saw it by chance when gearing a new warrior.

the level requirement are scaling, apparently, but don't be fooled by what the status of the item says, we need to actually buy it first, to see if they scale correctly or the ilvl is fixed

They were not always 48+, which is why I didn't bother farming Rep on my 49's. That said, I took one of my 49's to Revendreth to check and the TT does indeed show 48+. Unfortunately I'm not quite Honored yet and it takes forever because not all WQ are in areas that 49's can complete and you only get 125 Rep each.

Im farming WQ and rep tokens from then aswell, i'll post here as soon as i have some data (i expect to get honored doing all sidequests + WQ in something like 1 - 2 weeks because of WQ respawn rate)

my fear is that we may have a short amount of time to do this if they ever decide to implement the intended restriction of not being able to stop XP in SL content in an upcoming major patch
