Theorycrafting: Shaman optional stats

And what about PVP talent? I see resto shamans have Swelling Waves for better selfheal or Spectral Recovery for regen and better speed in ghost wolf, but i try the third one Countestrike totem and use it against hunter and..well.. that was a great suicide :D

@Quintyx - it all depends on build - TBC will give you more main stat (aka Intellect/Strength/Agility) than lvl28 gear. However, lvl 28 gear will give you the most secondary stats (in addition - only way to get BiS mastery pieces as tbc does not come with mastery).

So honestly just depends on the build you want to play :)

I do see some resto shamans in the armory go all-out in Int, while others go all-out in Mastery/Vers. I assume these two different styles is where one might have to do raw healing while the other wants to mostly do DPS with healing? Pretty cool to have that option if so!

My view is that for RSham, the value of Mastery inversely correlates to the number of other healers in your BG....If you're the only healer, or if your playstyle is to go and cap objectives while pocket-healing a DPS carry and don't have other healers to help out, Mastery is going to be clutch for getting those big heals on low-hp teammates....Versus, if you have several other healers on your squad, or if you want to mainly be a mid/clash healer topping off allies while coordinating with other healers and getting some DPS in when the momentum of the fight swings in your team's favor, Intellect is more valuable for more consistent heals and DPS potential.

Basically, when you find yourself in a solo-healing situation you're going to be spending way more time trying to clutch save allies that get CC chained (with Mastery healing more the lower your target's health is) VS. thinking about DPS or flat, sustained heals which are more indicative of a big team fight.

Problem is, you can't predict who you're going to be queued with unless you have a guild that you 5-man group with whenever you play, so my advice would be to build out 2 different sets for both scenarios and swap gear accordingly.

Just my $0.02.

Resto: Int > Versa > Mastery (harmonious)

Ele: Int > Mastery > Haste=Versa (feverflare)

If I was going to make a resto as fast as possible, having no other gear and I was not F2P (I don't know those restrictions). If I just wanted to get shit done:

Head: Engergized RetnalArmor (+Haste // + Haste // + Cast speed) [sub Mok Nathal Mask if you are super fucking lazy with 3x+2 int +2stam gems]

Neck: Talisman of the Breaker + Mark of the Hidden Satyr [EDIT]

Shoulder: Pauldrons of Desolation (2x +2int +2stam) - cheat chant if you want

Cape: i28 Green +Haste +Mastery (+2int +2stam) + Speed if possible +Empowerment

Chest: Hauberk of Desolation (3x +2int +2stam) + Glorious Stats

Wrist: i28 Green +Haste +Mastery (+2int +2stam) + Speed if possible + Stam
enchant

Hands: Gauntlets of Desolation (2x +2int +2stam) + whatever spell power is best

Belt: Girdle of the Storm (2x +2int +2stam)

Pants: Wyrmscale Greeves (3x +2int +2stam) - cheat chant if you want

Boots: i28 Green +Haste +Mastery (+2int +2stam) +Speed if possible +Stam/Run Speed

Ring: i28 Green +Haste +Mastery (+2int +2stam) +Speed if possible + Haste Enchant

Ring: i28 Green +Haste +Mastery (+2int +2stam) +Speed if possible + Haste Enchant

Trinket: Ghost Iron Dragonling +crit +mastery +verse

Trinket: PvP Trinket

i34 Resto Artifact Relics +14 spell power and +5 int.

Alchemy for Alchemists Flask and Mana potions.

That to me is as cookie cutter as you can get. And since all BGs are different and the teams you face are always different, worrying about +5%crit versus +5%haste or +5% verse/mastery is just silliness and not worth wasting brain cells on... you cannot know every situation.

That above is just as good as any other Gem/gear setup and you will be about 80% as effective as somebody abusing Mastery. And I only say that because the numbers from Mastery are just goofy... I've seen unleashed life do 900 on a NON crit.

  • The desolation gear isn't worth it. Crit isn't that strong.
  • Feverflare is wasted on Resto - not worth sacrificing versa over haste.
  • get inscription enchant on shoulders, no cheat needed
  • get tarren mill's defender waist instead for 9 versa and +1 int socket bonus
  • arcane elixirs > alchemy flask if you have the gold and bank space
  • get relentless wotlk dalaran helm or BRD epic helm for evocation 1min cd

Is Resto still stronger offensively than Elemental like it was in either Legion or BfA? I can’t remember which expansion it was, but Resto Shaman was not only the best healer, but was literally stronger DPS than Elemental (due to how SP converted or some weird shit that made ZERO sense, but made the choice between the two specs VERY easy, lol).

In fact, whichever expansion I’m thinking about, Resto Druid also might’ve had stronger DoTs and Wrath than Balance because of the weird SP too.
[doublepost=1611791977,1611791351][/doublepost]Also, how do the Elemental Shaman in the stickies armories have an ilvl 35 Season 7 PvP helm...?

Resto damage has been nerfed but I would suggest playing resto for solo queuing as healing is so strong.

The season 7 PvP helm has no level requirement. It can be bought from the vendor in Wotlk Dalaran.

highest I've seen so far is Theycamefrom-Stormrage (https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/us/stormrage/theycamefrom) at 46% versatility / 218 rating. They could probably get maximum 4% more with inscription, bracer enchant, versa oil and gemmed sameed ring but any more they would be losing way too much int to be worth it. 70% is a bit of a stretch but vers stacking is definitely possible

The only problem with stacking that much versatility is it doesn't scale as well as stamina inside BGs. You'll be sacrificing a lot of HP for versatility with main stat/versa gems.

IS better have arcane elixir then that flask from alchemy? Which head from BRD you mean?

So stamina scale with level in BG, so what about intelect, it also scale with level? What is optional intelect or minimal intelect? and you think optional HP from gear is around 2500 on 20?

Flask is +8 int. Greater Arcane Elixir is 14 spell power and 4 crit iirc. 2500 HP outside of bgs and 4k inside. BRD epic helm (easiest farm in game using mole machien straight to boss).

another question in this topic, as resto shaman, is better to belt Spinal Haling Injector or Frag Belt ? how much healing in BG do it and how much dmg does the Frag belt?

You should use the plasma shield on the belt and use third wind potions. I'm just saying that is the max survivalbility. The plasma shield blocks 750 in a BG... that is more than enough time to get past a silence... PLUS it does not share a cool down with the Third Wind Potion... the Spinal Healing Injector does.

How far into cata eng is shield belt? I have it on my 60 rogue er 25 rogue I dont remember when you got it though.

I really like my build right now
https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/us/blackwing-lair/downpour

I have a full ilvl 28 set, it's great as well. It's really a toss up but I feel the 3 gem slots are just too good to pass on. I went for the 2 set bonus because free stats are a good call. Plus the extra haste gets me to a 1.3 sec cast.

I think 3 Steady Talasites are where you should be. I'd like more vers and mastery but it's always a trade off. Mastery really makes rshaman a viable option, otherwise it just wouldn't be as strong as the other healers. Pick up as much as you can.

Replace my neck with socketed one and pick up 6 haste somewhere so you can chant sp to gloves, would be my only changes.

I think it's a tie between Orc and Vul for Horde. If you are bursting with a team go Vul otherwise I think Orc is BiS for the stun reduction. You can use bag while silenced to heal, which is nice too though.

Would love to hear from Jrmilk or a more seasoned rshaman though!

This is my Rsham build, i feel it is pretty good and i dont need much more, if any vers to live quite a long time as rsham. Due to the mastery/etc, you do a lot of heals when lower w/ all healing abilities. The haste is obv for when you need to cast healing surge, but also for when you need to get a lava surge off on a kill target/etc

https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/us/bleeding-hollow/yardsail

Let me know thoughts, i feel like this is pretty decent, could also take away some of the vers tbh, my ele set has every slot feverflare but helm to keep the chance to increase cast speed/etc

SOO heirlooms aside, are the artifact weapons the BiS for resto? Seems like

The only thing that might be acceptable if you went the Big Dumb Verse tank build route would be a Epic Foamspitter. These Resto no haste builds will get you though a Pug, but not if the enemy team is on par with a healer wearing real gear. I have a specific build I use on MistWeaver with the epic foamspitter, but that mainly works because everything is an instant.

Int/Spell power > Haste/Int Gems > Haste > Who cares... is just too important for a Resto since the CD on their instants is trash compared to other healers... you are basically just 1 buttoning to keep people up (compared to other heals, even Resto Druid)

So, after they fu**** up artifacts, which ist best weapon and shield for resto shaman? Some green 28illevel weapon and shield or something from dungeon ? or world drop?

Ilvl 28 weapons dont exist. Aside from Hand Of Edward The Odd and Skullflame Shield.
Socket weapon from rare and socket shield from Rezan is easiest choices. Can get green ilvl 25 weapon and shield if you want other stats than those or dont get weapon procced.
