Demon Hunters

On this episode of Xp-off Stars, what do they know? Do they know things? Let's find out! We'll be talking about demon hunters.

Has anyone tried them out below 19s?
How are they looking at 13/14?
And has anyone got out at ower levels than this?

This may evolve into me testing for myself but I'm clueless at mitigating xp gains. I've been hearing already that they're relatively meh in the 19s bracket but with the joyful scaling us 10-14s experience does that make them more viable for PvE content?

did someone say DH!? :)

i haven't played DH extensively pre-20, but i can tell you: they're simply unmatched in low-level PvE:
1. https://www.wowhead.com/spell=196055/double-jump + https://wowhead.com/spell=131347/glide gives you access to so many areas that other classes simply do not have.
2. the https://www.wowhead.com/spell=203795/soul-fragment mechanic (works best as tank spec) is the best self-heal option in the game at this level.
(i can solo 8-mob groups in dungeons)
3. on the topic of https://www.wowhead.com/spell=203795/soul-fragments: since most of the PvE content we have to run to gear is TBC, there are a lot of demons to kill in dungeon runs, and when using this DH mechanic to recover HP, demon souls also grant you a 20% damage buff: https://www.wowhead.com/spell=163073/demon-soul. this works in BGs as well! (watch out warlocks!)

there are some things that are not so good about DH:
- you will have to fight the strong urge to uninstall WoW anytime you die from fall damage, there's no excuse for that shit on a DH.
- there's a really weird bug with how some vendor items are priced for DH (i suspect it has something to do with their minimum level being 98 before the pre-patch squish, and it effecting the scaling on gold prices). but this is really obscure, and only really impacts F2Ps, just thought i would bring it up, though.

I ran two new DH through starting zone last night to try and get one out at level 14 and could not. Most of the XP was from quest turn-in (150-1460 XP) and zone discovery (260 XP). First time I didn't worry about mob XP because they all scale to your level, finished with (6k) 1/2 into level 15 XP. Second time I killed low health minions, no random mobs and didn't do the one side quest, finished with (4k) 1/3 into level 15 XP. There is no way to prevent or reduce any of these two types of XP as far as I know. I will try and twink it at 15 and see how it performs, already have a gear list. If someone did get out at 14 let me know how.

P.S. I was one of the few that got a demon hunter out at 99 when legion first launched.

@Twinkit I got out last night at 14 (barely) after HOURS of trying to make it out at 10 (impossible). You party with another DH and stand in the Fel to die. Then Ghost follow them for the Kill Quests (not the ones where you have to absorb their power), don't do ANY of the Bonus Objectives and you'll make it out. Here's mine:

I know the benefits of level 10-14 dungeon scaling, but after making my gear list half of my socket gear are from the 15+ dungeon and since I already have a level 10, I will try this out for fun. Thanks for the conformation that it can be done.

I'm also curious on how to get them out at 12, I could barely manage 14. Pretty much avoid all bonus objectives/treasures when possible and kill low HP mobs because they grant the least xp. For the forced bonus objective in the first zone, you can right-click dead demon hunters and just go around searching for non-kill bonus objective progress

DHs are suprisingly weak. You don't get self-sustain til level 30ish, no crits on Eye Beam hurts a ton, and your damage output is flat out low outside of metamorph (which matches MM hunter and Arc Mage). Pmuch their only strength is their mobility.

They have 1 sudo-Sustain option, Shattered Souls Passive. It heals for 20% of max Health PER Fragment.

are you playing in DH-zone starter gear, or something? (those weapons are only ilvl 6)
i find your assessment of the DH's performance to be highly inaccurate.

Good, they are already aids to vs at max.

i tried both havoc and vengeance with heirlooms and some starter gear from quests .... at lvl 14 my personal(newbie) opinion is that they don't perform as good as other classes . i may lack on gear , i dont know

I agree, even with 3 pieces of ilvl 44 gear, my 14 DH is kinda on par with my ilvl 14 level 10 monk, maybe even worse. I have yet to try a DK, but I'm guessing it might be a similar story

Daaamn those warglaives

Srs, log in, take those off, log out. Are you trying to get more shit nerfed?

Damn sad I missed them :(

Think this basically settles it then. With a state everything is in currently DH ain't worth gearing in this bracket.

May revisit once we get the iLvl nerfs down the line
