max gem total: 25gem + 3 cogwheel

dungeon gear becomes ilvl 25, craftable items become ilvl 19, list assumes wod rares scale from ilvl 44 to 25 and not completely unobtainable

very rough list just to show how important sockets become if nerfs come in, probably overlooked some pieces like trinket effects which will probably just be wod dungeon drops
arent ilvl 28 greens with gem proc better than all the 1 gem pieces

arent ilvl 28 greens with gem proc better than all the 1 gem pieces

probably cloak and bracers yeah, as far as i know the only greens that can proc a gem are legion/bfa so the rings/neck wont have int which i dont think would be upgrades

i assume something like this for str plate users if everything gets fixed
with these you will be getting around +60 str, 90 stam, 40 crit and 60 vers depending on ur choices

go get the gear. It’s not like questing is difficult

I always agree with this.

It's just that, due to the various ways you mentioned, there has never been (and I assume will never be, but, who knows) an evergreen set of gf'd items that never needs to be replaced.

There have been so many item changes, ESPECIALLY since WoD's release, that the idea of twinking to avoid the gear treadmill is slowly but surely going away IMO.

Weird - on one hand, I like that somewhat, it keeps things fresh. On the other, it sucks that old enchant x is no longer relevant and wearing it holds you back.

As for the recent changes (like the ones that ruined azerite --- which make no fucking sense since BFA is required for new players and the HoA was an integral part of BFA - now reserved til 40? What? Can't it require level 10 and just scale up? anyways...) I assume more and more will be rolling out given that the entire expansion was delayed because of <insert reason here>. I assume the recently gf'd high ilevel relics will scale down or not work, the legion ilevel 50 quest items will be scaled down, the wod rare drops will be scaled down, etc.

If not, well, it REALLY sucks for people that were busy the first couple days the prepatch came out and missed their chance at a week or so of obtaining gf'd items. "Play before we recognize our error" is what twinking is more and more becoming, rather than just getting geared out.

Its always been like that for some of the grandfathered items or rare gold costing items. You have to get them before they get fixed, removed, or changed. Twinking has often been decently time sensitive, but its true that its not always, and we usually have more time then this. The reason why we have less is because its a leveling prepatch, and a bunch of levelers got the gear(for legion dungeons and bfa questlines) so it was reported, tweeted, posted on reddit, and changed much quicker then normal. Normally, its just the twinks that find and search for that stuff relatively quickly. Also, twinking got a big influx during prepatch, probably partially since there is no new prepatch content so everyone is trying to find something to do, so they tried to see if they can get back into twinking. This allowed everything to spread much faster, which means more visibility, which means more chance that blizzard sees it earlier. Even wowhead looked on this website and made a news post on it. For a change of this magnitude, its somewhat expected you would need to be on the ball for getting gear quickly.
[doublepost=1603314968,1603314870][/doublepost]Also, when levelers see twinks one to two shotting bosses, they as expected think "how is this possible, how can i do that?" which adds even more visiblity. It makes sense it would get patched quickly. I will agree it would've been nice to have longer to obtain everything, there was too much to do and not enough time to do it.

i dont disagree with any of this

theres an ideal twinking experience we want and a twinking experience as it exists. And we have to contend with the reality of twinking as it is.

BFA was insane in that we had to completely re-gear 3 times in one xpac.

I sincerely hope thats not the case in SL but i fear it will be. Blizz is extremely lazy about catching low level balance issues (and honestly, i understand. Who cares about 20s balance when then problems solved for 99% of the population with 15 minutes of leveling) but they are still making changes. So they hit us every other patch or so. It’s a pain.

I've always liked seeing them when playing my non-twinks.

In fact, seeing twinks in bgs during TBC is what made me want to twink. I thought "wow that dude fucking owns, I wanna do that" - which included me getting owned by them as well.

What makes the LEAST sense regarding blizz's anti-twink stance is that, though they wish to combat twinks playing as we assume that they think it 'turns away new players' (see above - it literally did the EXACT opposite for me - I wouldn't be playing if it weren't for getting my ass handed to me by twinks) is that they allow people to make level 20 twinks and have it cost them ZERO DOLLARS - but that's not all - AND - that is for a VERY LOW LEVEL PLAYER GROUP - the group of players that F2P twinks fight against, if against new players, is probably against a new player in their very first battleground/ one of their first - which is the PRIMARY place for them to be turned away. What the fuck

I hope that if/when they do nerf the relics it wont completely break my artifact weapons. Like I would want to able to socket in new +5 ones or something because even at just 31 ilvl they are still really decent.

If they ever nerf ilvl 50 hands.

Fists of Thane Kray-Tan
Plate
Epic ilvl 28
5 int/str
8 stam
7 haste
3 mastery
4 leech.
Req. 20

cant help it when i read the dumbest thing all year, mans out here like 'grr if it doesnt drop in classic dungeons its bugged and needs fixing' no this is how blizzard intended things to be in SL, tbc gear doesnt need 'fixing' because there's nothing to fix and 20s with 13+ primary stat gems and 2.2k hp will make the bracket more imbalanced than it currently is with full ilvl 44 gear, you'll lose maybe 20-40 primary stat if it gets nerfed compared to tbc gear, that'll be a 15-25% damage loss compared to 30-50% of your health loss

straight up 1shot fest if tbc gear becomes bis.

get your calculators out whoevers crying.

I can 2 shot another fully decked out twink with legion ilvl 50 and wod rare gear. So your argument that high health pools make a difference really isn't true. Dmg will be an issue in any situation in my humble opinion

'because i can 2 shot rn lower health pools wont make a difference' thats some quality take right there mate

to be fair dmg is gonna be high no matter the gear we have, our dmg is disproportional to our health pools. This is the case even at lvl 50. gemmed sets would also be no better since we would have high primary but no extra stamina. Healers might balance it out, but idk.

Yes dmg:hp ratio is too high in general rn. gem gear is going to make this even worse so i really dont get ppl trying to argue it makes no difference or is better gor the bracket
