EU+US 29s come shadowlands

Solanar

Grandfathered
Seeing as 60s and 70s will become 25 and 27 respectively come SL, and 29 twinks like to play level 29, might there be a rise of the 29 bracket in the coming game?

I think I may indeed level some 60s from 25 to 29 in SL if so. At 29 many classes have quite a number of abilities, but not too many, and it feels quite like a sweetspot in terms of combat speed + abilities. Healing needs to be looked into, but, from what I can tell, this could be pretty good.

I am also considering perhaps 39 or 49, but, 29 first as it affects my soon-to-not-be-60s first.

29s can use TBC dungeon and raid gear, (and as far as I can tell, whatever SL dungeons allow you to do as well, so maybe legion/bfa ones? at the time of writing the PTR LFG tool seems bugged) but there is definitely a humongous pool from which to obtain gear from, so that is cool.

Thoughts?

You need 30 to enter hc dungeons after launch. Hc gems and vendor pvp gems Will most Likey get hotfixed to 2 + 2 stats rather than 5 strenght + 6 stam or 5 +5

But i guess you should prepare a 70 now untill launch

I've noticed that, yea. prepping a 70-something would be good (I've started!)

curious if there will be interest in the bracket vs 19 or any others. as well, anyone know what the FTP level will be?

It would be nice to see 29s back alive in retail.

Honestly it looks like leaving 60s and 70s under 30 will make them some of the most grandfathered twinks in the game. With flying and all the raid gear and heroic gear along with who knows how many original quest rewards, will be pretty cool.

As much as it would suck to level your 60 to 70. It would give you 270 flying which will be grandfathered entirely when prepatch hits

that is an incredible fact to point out, damn.

leveling would feel horrific but doing so just prior to be de-leveled would be interesting

hard things to consider

Not to divert the topic, but to bring up what I only previously mentioned: 39 -

39 will have 4 talents and 2 honor talents, as level 60 does now. A few more abilities, but not too many. No issues of gf'd flight either, which may have some mild effect on people wanting to be in the bracket. Not sure currently between 29 and 39 rn, both look good, but as I consider it I am tempted slightly more to go with level 39. Any thoughts on that vs 29? I want to keep it related to 29s since this the 29 forum section but might as well bring it up.

39s has cookies!

a current 99 will be alot of work to get a 39 SL squish, for a temp active bracket. alot of WOD crafted is BIS like weapons, etc you can upgrade, like legion art weapons you need to enchant before doing upgrades.

however blizzard does PVP brackets in SL, they will compete with two other games. which is like retail WOW competing with 2 private servers, just those are official

Just a heads up that the wod crafted gear / artifacts aren't even that good for 99s / SL 39s. BiS comes from 90s raids and other stuff.

can't hold onto a level when it has already been force-changed. :/

go 29!

players in the past were at the same decision point when levels were added and 70's were in the 70-79 bracket. 70's were at a huge disadvantage until blizzard did a patch where resilience was double for players 70 and lower. some went 79 to crutch the advantage, then later split brackets to 70-74 and 75-79, then in MOP blizz did reverse scaling where a 70 was stronger in a BG than a 74, then late they did gear scaling to the point the BIS sword for a prot pal was a level 5 green sword from van wow in a BG. then brackets where recombined to 70-79 along with scaling undone, but also templates were in effect, 79s had a huge advantage in BGs due to 2 extra talents or so, mastery. and access to CATA gear. in BFA mixed BGs were back, older twink 70 were back along with doing extremely well in BFA again due to scaling, there were very few 79s if any then blizz ganked mixed BGs.

most of the 70's that are still left over have always been reluctant to blow their work, and are willing to stay where they are at. we have resisted the urge for slight or temp power, and overall has paid off. players who go for the min max in many brackets got burned
[doublepost=1601269381,1601268582][/doublepost]add on squishes have also ganked players who popped past 70, to the point where WOTLK and CATA gear on a 77+ was not better than BC max socket gear

71s got the screw when wotlk niflevar axe was squished weaker than BC weapons.
