We're insane

For those of us who focus on high lvl twinks, we spend years each expansion gearing, in hope for re-population of the brackets, or remerging xpoff and xpon. It won't happen again. We had a small taste of fun in early BFA, but Blizzard is obviously against that. So all our twinks are good for are a few duels here and there, and more gearing.

Are you ok with being insane? You know you'll probably never fully utilize your twinks in consistent gameplay. We may get a few people messaging us: "hey cool gear, how did you get that?"

But every once in a while, I actually get the snike remark: "lol twinking". While I hate this mentality from casual players, the truth is they're absolutely right. It's a lost cause with many brackets.

Maybe we should just stop until absolute confirmation of a bracket re-merge. Even if it means not getting every little piece of gear along the way.

Also, I'm venting. I didn't put much thought into this thread and I know there are other arguments to counter this, like: I just enjoy gearing, you'll regret not gearing when it finally happens, etc. On a side note, 10s might be interesting with all the new content available next xpac, and a steady population.

It's about reframing.
Is your goal to get the most geared toon or to destroy levelers? If you want the last you can easily smash Bags with a mixture of boas and enchants.

A mix of both. I think most people here share that. Also I don't want to absolutely obliterate people. One-shotting isn't fun for me. But at the same time, BiS gearing should still have a decent advantage over heirlooms with enchants. At the same time, people with greens should still be able to put up a fight.

Shocked to discover this wasnt another thread about rice.

this lol

i love collecting gear, farming, wpvp while farming gear, toys etc on low levels. ran into you many times throughout the years at anniversary events, wpvp etc. its what we do brother. plebs will never understand

i don't think my life is that insane...

edit: oops, grabbed the wrong shirt.

I just lol when blizzard and plebs still think boa is bis in bg’s, meanwhile their getting smashed by twink premades with full satyr/crusader enchants and blame it on a gimped 22 Tauren that has polished shoulders of valor and a boa polearm with minor impact. This is the reason op scaling gear/op scaling enchants even exist and are left unchanged because levelers casually do pvp and dont check their combat logs displaying double ele force taking half their health. So these items aren’t reported by everyone because twinks are viewed as boa stackers lmao

Also, it’s why level 19s got 180ivl gear, black empire armor and shattrath socket armor before the casuals catch on and mass report :p

Imo twinking is no different than regearing the same 120 every season just to be outgeared if you miss out on future content. Blizzard most likely knows the twinks that remain are in a similar position, because we gain some benefits from older content that grandfathers armor and then new content that has potential to replace old/gf’d Armor.

It’s funny because it’s the same thing before every prepatch/anniversary event. New op gear is found, endgamer gets smashed by level 50 twink on PTR with op armor, and then blizzard doesn’t fix said item until it hits retail and threads flood the wow forums because endgamer joes arena ranking tanks because a casual discovered an op level 50 item.
Unless it effects endgame content/arenas blizzard won’t fix it because 2 shotting levelers isn’t as dire of a situation as fixing endgame

I got a three day ban one time for having a 19 warrior with the blacksmithing sockets and the belt sockets by smashing my gear off the great lift to red, Equip and sockets and gems and then fixing the gear. I thought it was clever use of game mechanics But all the reports in the GM said otherwise. It was pretty funny having a prot warrior with three times the hit points of everybody else

For me, I just enjoy playing old content in later expansions, it adds a flair of discovery, with each new patch quests work differently, wpvp expands and things open up to us that were previously locked behind a level higher than ourself. I feel like you are always working on a personal project, and that to me, is rewarding in itself.

twinking has played out much like seasons in diablo do. you build up but at the end of a season (xpac) you have to reset a new toon or rework your twink to fit the new scaling/gear.

If twinking was a "wam bam thank you ma'am" kind of thing we wouldn't be doing it.
We love farming and becoming gods. being a god isn't as fun as becoming one.
It's all about the journey. I've had to start over on pvp/pvp twink systems(multiple toons for Power leveling) several times.
Now it just looks like 10,50 and maybe 59 are the only worthwhile spots. Please call me out if you have noticed or think of more well populated spots in SL.

We love farming

Farming is OK. Feeling of getting your first shadowfang to your F2P rogue is priceless but farming forever like D3 seasons is not WOW twinking for me. I'd just play end game if i enjoy seasons style.

Thats basically how i play on my 1 too

xpoff or debuff. red rag or purple debuff? been using debuff for over 9 months. you have xp on but level super slow

Should have taken a screenshot. it was XPOFF. It did have a duration, though. There were 5 minutes left, which I've never seen before... usually a static buff.

i believe you just join a dungeon with an xpoff character and you get the debuff, at which point you can bg with your xp on

What debuff does joining a dungeon give you?

What debuff does joining a dungeon give you?

You join a group with someone who has XPOFF. They will significantly reduce the EXP gain of everyone (this was implemented not "that" long ago as a counter meassure towards boosting).

You then enter a dungeon with this debuff (manually, not LFG etc.). Then you leave group on your not XPON locked toon (it will keep EXP reduction debuff for some time). Every time you enter combat, the debuff will reset if it was about to run out. So you just tag stuff in the dungeon to re apply the debuff.

Enjoy XPON BG's as a twink. Important to note that the method does not prevent you from gaining EXP, you just gain very little while the debuff is active.
