EU+US There's some hope for level 20 F2P access in SL.

Anyone else see the blue post Blizzard recently posted in regards to a recap for Pre-Patch?

/New Player Has Joined the Chat
After creating your new character and beginning your journey into World of Warcraft for the first time, you will automatically be added to a Newcomer Chat channel, where you can talk with other new players and seek advice from experienced players on the same faction who will be your guides as you level through the new starting zone of Exile's Reach. New players and guides will be able to recognize one another in the chat channels and by icons above their characters' heads that only they can see. Upon reaching level 20, new players will continue the journey ahead on their own and will no longer have access to the Newcomer Chat.

Levels 1-20 are considered "New Players" with access to a Newcomer chat, upon 20 you are no longer have said access.

Sort've hyped for what this could mean! I welcome y'alls thoughts on this information.

Yea, looks like it may be 20. I thought the odds were much higher than 0% - The game is so old they had to create something like chromie time for people to enjoy old content. Giving some of it away to 'noobs' just seems not a big deal. Looking forward to it. Oddly enough this may make accounts on my starter edition viable to vet since it will force them to level via banked xp and presumably they won't have enough to go beyond 20.
May have just doubled my vet twink roster ;)
 
I am definitely okay with 20 still being F2P. It allows for much more viable classes/specs. Also could potentially make the more OP outliers more OP. Regardless excited for it.
 
I was dreading F2P being level 10, mostly because on PTR it seemed some classes were entirely lackluster.

With it being 20, just more flavor for free is always a good thing. It's hopeful thinking but Starter Edition being aimed at new players and them making this 1-20 new player claim feels as if the stars are aligning!
 
imagine if SL just disabled this feature all together and there is no such thing as playing without paying
(Comes with a GM that tells you that this "starter edition thing never existed")
 
the lvl 20 cap, will mean that my gf'ed, Ogee characters will be playable again. #pray
 
If WoW wants to compete with the new consoles, new games, Destiny 2 releasing all content except for the latest expac for free, Warzone, Cold War, Halo Infinite, etc. they will most likely leave the f2p cap at 20. Yeah, I understand I mentioned a lot of FPS games. Yet, how many gamers do you know that only play one type of game? It seems like Blizzard is wanting to cater more to f2p to generate sub leads. Allowing even lvl 10's the ability to get artifact weapons, pvp gear, stone slots for said gear, etc. shows that they care about the f2p community. 10 or 20, I'll still have fun. Signs point toward 20 though. Eventually another expac, level increase, etc. will happen. 20 will come back for f2p one way or another.

If they were going to make it higher than 10 which is the explicit end of the "new account experience" why wouldnt they just make it 50? Especially if the argument is that they have to compete with other games f2p models?

I mean, at some point, I fully expect wow to be f2p up to the current expansion. but thats years and years down the road.
