US So 39's... Who wants to play the "new" 19 bracket??

Will you be playing the "new" 19 bracket?

I'm keen - I still log onto my warlock quite regularly and stare at all my grandfathered gear and wonder when I can put it to use.

Just to clarify, has it been confirmed that Shadowlands will carry over with split xpon/xpoff bgs?

And what's the new brackets? Would it be 10-19? Is the new bracket that you're talking about going to be the new 'vet' bracket?

I'm overall hyped as it's the tiniest bit of hope I've seen in a while that I'll get to play my longest / best project character ever.

gonna be pretty hard to confirm that on the ptr. I suppose we could try it with arena ques but theres always the "is this not popping because segregated ques or because ptr" and "is this popping because merged ques or because ptr" problem.

I think its best to assume ques will remain segregated. Since the brackets are going to be ten level brackets (confirmed so far) there's even more incentive for blizz to keep twinks separated. So if we want to revive "39s" we need to put some work in and get it to a spot where we can consistently get some games going on a somewhat regular basis.

In other words... tell all your friends.

Thanks for that.

Are the brackets still going to be

10-19
20-29
30-39
etc?
If so, is there enough activity from the current 19, 29 and 39 retailers to go to the new 19 bracket?

Assuming that they all squish and 10-19 is the first bracket

currently, its 10 level brackets. so yes, 10-19, 20-29, etc. Subject to change because PTR/Beta obviously.

And I would think so? Like, even if it just starts as like "hey guys lets get together on wednesday nights and play some 19s arena" then its got a foundation to grow on. It would just take everyone being comfortable with the realization that no, casual ques for BGs isnt going to happen and yes, we'll probably have to schedule wargames and yes, its probably going to be slow growth ectetcetc.

I hope to see you on @Smiffy! If you are looking to xfer over, please let me know! I'm working on setting up a community & Discord currently for everyone.

Also, for those who are wondering, I am officially recommending you level your 39's to 44. The reason is two-fold, one reason being you will have access to higher-level content and quests which *MAY* become GF'd at Pre-Patch. The second reason being that when Pre-Patch goes live in a month or so, you don't have to spend any time leveling, and then XP locking your characters, you can simply jump straight into all the new content areas. I have updated my original post to reflect this as well and added a chart for visualization purposes.

43 is enough.

Looks like i might have to level my 39

Forever the wet blanket to Axonns enthusiasm... id hold off a bit on that leveling. There is always a possibility that they decide to tweak how the squish happens. Unlikely! but possible.

this ^

I leveled a squished 39 from 17 to 19 on PTR in one dungeon, so it's not a huge time sink waiting for the patch to go live. The odds of level scaling changing at this point are suuuper low, but probably better safe than sorry unless there are some potentially GF'ed things worth leveling for.

Look what the cat dragged out! Haven't seen you in awhile! Hope all is well, and that you will join us in this endeavor.

So my opinion is, as stated above, to go ahead and level because at this point, Blizzard has bigger concerns than to go back and redo the scaling for the level squish. I feel supreme confidence in that assessment. That being said, do what you feel is best. I'm probably a more risk tolerant person than most people, given my time in the military.

The way I see it, you either level now to obtain potential GF'ed gear, and have a toon that's ready to take advantage of patch day bugs (remember Northrend Engineering on BFA launch?) and risk having that toon be over leveled on patch day; OR wait to level your character until after patch day, and risk not having GF'ed gear as well as potentially missing out on patch day bugs.

Either way you risk something. But to each their own!

That's a big risk vs reward scenario.

I might leave my characters as is for now - I already have enough grandfathered gear as it is, so if anything I'd probably break even / have pieces that other people won't have in the long run

Any idea if the old level 35 version of Pendulum of Doom will be worth using in this bracket? I have one gathering dust on a bank alt for over 12 years now.

I wouldn't think so, as it'll probably be item level 39ish or 40ish, whereas people are chancing for item level 51ish stuff

Wouldn't know until I saw it to be perfectly honest.

Is there any potentially grandfathered gear 39s should look at?
Interestingly, not really anything you can currently get. all your gear will end up being a lower ilvl than dungeon drops. So, for instance, I'll be replacing my current Princess maces with newer princess maces. And Im not even sure thats BIS anymore. Probably not.

BUT! Old GF'd gear is gonna be rather nice. Mark Of the Chosen, for instance, still provides 25 str for a full minute and on strength pools that are closer to 150 than 300, thats a substantial boost. Same for the older, nonscaled lessons of the darkmaster and Omarions gift. Mallet of Zulfarrak is better dps than a lot of comparable 2 handers, etc.

So if you got you some *truly* deep cuts in GF'd gear, you'll find that theyre rather nice.

Can someone test if you can craft the Crafted Legion Legendaries WITH Relic of the Past I? (sets item to level 15/iLvl23)

EDIT: According to Wowhead, even consumables like Armor Kits can have Relic of the
Past applied to them. That's VERY interesting.
