A player who that relates to Blizzard ?

I wanted to explain to you why I've become so negative. I've been hesitating for several weeks, but I think it's interesting to find out.

A strange thing happened to me.

First, access to my API was blocked. All sites like WarcraftLogs or WowProgress or Raider.io don't display my character anymore !

Then, a guy contacted me in game, asking me for a friend invitation, and telling me he was a fan of my progress. Having nothing to hide, since I never exploit for fear of getting my account deleted, I figured why not. So far I don't see any harm in it, I think I'm cool with an more 110.

I invite him, and first he asks me directly about how I make my necklace. I explain it to him straight away. And he goes on, he insists, he thinks I'm not telling him everything. Anyway ...
He also tells me about a nerf in Uldum. That was three months ago. But at that time, there was no nerf! I used to go every week, I'd know if there had been one. He's trying to make up for it by telling me about a nerf on the part drop with corruption. But the corrupted part never went down for the 110s. At least I'm not aware of that.

Then he tells me about his 110. I ask him the name, and then I see that he's only been to Anthorus twice... I think, "That's weird," but maybe he's just getting started... But what's weirder is that his necklace was 86. Even weirder, he tells me he's working hard on his necklace, and here after 3 months, he's still 86.

Then I look at the 110 group, and I don't see him. Being i'm moderator, I ask him to join us. And then he tells me something I've never been told, like he worked hard not to be in the group, and he doesn't want me to invite him. I think, what ? If you're a fan of twink 110, why don't you want to be in it? Whatever!

He tells me he goes to Uldum regularly, invites me to go with him. He's PL himself with a second account. I think cool, with him I could go even faster. But that's the only time he invited me. And after a month, I didn't see him in Uldum anymore. He also told me that he's organize Anthorus, and that he'll invite me. But I've only seen him in Anthorus once.

The guy wouldn't leave me alone, every time I connected he'd ask me what I was doing. Whether he was in play or not, he even contacted me from his Battle.net app. Knowing that I'm playing on the US side and living on the EU side, and that there's a big time difference. Well, at all hours of the day, he'd be there to question me... Crazy! Even when I was just logging in to hand in my sales. At the time, I'm thinking maybe he's just a kid.

After 1 month, he ends up asking me exactly the same questions he asked me at the beginning, about how I make the necklace together.

Then he starts putting up a new 110. Asked me to come help him to stuffer himself by doing some dungeons. I go and after just two dungeons, he go off. I already had doubts about him, but I told myself that his goal finally was not to record my DPS?
Finally after 15 days, I see that he has raised his new 110 to 120 ...

After 2 months, we had the nerf on Uldum. Then I go to the Val with another 110 character to get some craft items, I was in for 2 minutes. He asks me right away if I'm going to farm the azérith at this place now...

After that, I started to have serious questions about this person. I even told him that maybe he was hired by Blizzard to get closer to me to find out what would motivate the 110 twinks to go up in lvl (and I also told myself, incidentally to try to see if I exploited or not).
He told me that he himself exploited buggs a lot. Except that me, I never talked about exploiting a bugg. That's why I blocked him. For me, everything was said, there was a 90% chance that this guy would report to Blizzard.

So here it is, I wanted to do something constructive with this list, and in the end it seems like the Blizzard bastards used it to wipe out the 110. I'm disgusted.
Although I find it strange that Blizzard can't spy on us by intelligent digital means. They designed it anyway...

This guy's on the forum, and he's posted three messages.

What do you think of that story? Isn't there any reason to believe what I believe?

If you want off the list (https://xpoff.com/threads/110-list-of-the-higher-ilvl.89634/), you can of course ask me. I'm wondering about the list. Maybe we should work differently, by screenshot for example, hiding the names !

PS: Maybe I could even show you the conversations. But after I blocked it out, the entire conversation was erased. And I don't know if it will reappear if I unblock it.

Honestly, I think you're reading too much into this. Blizzard doesn't need to infiltrate your friends list to mine you for information on what to ban, they can freely read the tips people post on the forums here.

There's no reason for people to be taken off the list, or hiding the names. Having xp locked is not against the rules, farming azerite in Uldum is not against the rules (until it stopped working entirely). Examples of what is against the rules would have included the IP blocking trick some people used to get inside XP ON BGs when 8.1.5 hit and BGs were segregated again. Plus, there's a version of your thread on web.archive.org from July so removing names is pointless if someone really wanted to see the names.

To be honest, going by your last few posts in your 110 thread, and this one, if the game is causing you so much consternation, you should take a break. It should be a fun pastime, not an exercise in frustration as it seems to be for you. Just my 2 cents, but of course you decide for yourself.

You're probably right. I'm sorry if this is awkward.
I'll stay this message, in case anyone else is going through the same thing.

I had a similar experience several years ago, and it taught me an important lesson about respecting the boundaries of my time. You're generous to help people, but that doesn't mean they get to monopolize your time and knowledge. I find that the people who push you to help them on a regular basis, respect it the least and waste the opportunities you give them. The people who look to collaborate, or did their homework and show you by virtue of the questions they ask you, those are the ones who show a better chance of impacting a community.

Sharing knowledge, time, and effort makes for a better community. However, maintain your boundaries, for your own sake and for the sake of the people you care about.

Sorry for the edit, there was a major bug with the translator, I'm starting over ...

Thank you very much for taking the time to write all this down, it really helps me. I will pay more attention to it, thanks ;)

the exact reason i never put my toons names on this site. Players are bad enough at trying to get other players banned. I don't need THE MAN coming down on me as well.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks so.

Blizzard doesn't care about your 110.

So, just a quick recap of what we've been through since the new team took over at Blizzard :
- nerf of the artifact ilvl
+ halo removed (less power and ilvl again)
+ artifact power removed (and was farming hard)
+ skill removed
- nerf of the relics (the proof of the 270 who bring nothing)
- nerf of the ilvl legendary
- visual blocking of the weapons artifacts, as well as one of the two legendary hidden ones, on the armory (restored the same day the legendary 120 appeared)
- power increase of the monsters 120 against 110
- Uldum's Nerf (monsters only drop gold)

For SL, it is expected that :
- legendary skill withdrawn

Not to mention the whole twinkie thing :
- a proposal on the forums, to remove possibility Xp-Off.
- separation in BGs for Xp-Offs

But I guess you're right. Blizzard doesn't care about 110 ...

This... seems like a bit much?

Sure, I get end game players hate twinks (usually) and I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if some go out of their way to report twinks, but there's not an atom in my body that would assume Blizzard is hiring... spies? I doubt that's what it is.

Could it be someone that hates twinks so much that they go out of their way to gain twink's trust so that they tell them about some sort of exploit that they can then report to Blizzard in an attempt to make twinking impossible? Sure, I guess? Would be a pretty dedicated twink hater though, I've never seen one of that caliber, can't imagine someone would waste that much time when they should know that reporting twinks never really works (bar a couple exceptions of course, 180s at the start of BFA come to mind.) I would assume you're just being paranoid though.

There's a lot of weird people online (WoW especially,) I would have just assumed that the guy is a little odd and continued on with my day. Or maybe, as you said, it's a child. I've dealt with a fair share of young WoW players and most of them do have that certain weirdness / awkwardness to them.

My theory on the subject of the guy who gets close to twinks to find out more, is not meaningless. For how do you explain the fact that most bans by exploit work is done by denunciation? Or another example, the bots, same thing by denunciation. Personally I find it crazy that they are not able to detect them digitally themselves.

Now I will not hide the fact that I am a bit paranoid, because of what I have been through, but it is not all the time. Only when I'm not well, and that's been the case these past few weeks.
But this is relative, because in paranoia there is always a part of truth that is based on lived experience. People to whom nothing has ever happened can't contemplate such things, for them it's unthinkable. Yet it happens, but these are not common things. Look at the Assange case, a good example. So it's called paranoia, it's easier for everyone.

Having said that, your theory about the person who hates twinks is interesting, I admit I didn't think about it. But it's also someone who brings back to Blizzard, it's very close.

And for the access to my character's API which is no longer accessible, have you ever seen that ?

Anyway, it wasn't a normal situation. That's all I can say.
