EU EU 19 BGs - Future Wargames

I just wanna start out by saying thanks to everyone who showed up tonight!
Pops even started a little ahead of time.

20+ POPS IN ONE EVENING!

The numbers were incredibly strong, and with such huge influx in activity, comes a few obstacles as well.
It's incredibly hard to keep track of games since there are multiple pops going on at the same time.
With that said, we now created a Feedback channel in the EU 19s Discord server.

A few points I want to make out in regards to this evenings games:

-Class Balancing:

Early on, there seemed to be too many mages, rogues and healers (shaman specifically at one point in time).
I will urge everyone who plays these classes have other classes available to them in the future, and be willing to swap around to better even out the comps.

-Faction Balancing:

It went back and forth in terms of who had the more known and experienced players, which is a good thing. It means that people are willing to swap to whichever faction seems to need them the most. I think we're in a good spot regarding that right now, so keep up the good work on that.

-Consumable usage:

We like to keep the games clean, and any consumable outside of Alchemist's Flask (flask that increases main stat for 5 hrs) is onsidered BANNED within 19 BG etiquette.

The reason for this is that consumables do not scale linearly. Some classes benefit more than others from X, Y, Z consumable etc.,
and it becomes a huge clusterfuck of who used what and when. I could go on a huge rant on why that is, but let's just say that your class might not have sprint, 30% damage increase, invis, AoE damage + stun, AoE fear etc. for a reason. So please refrain from using such means. The bracket is already pretty gimmicky as is.

-Objective classes and their impact on the game:

Objective classes are classes that look to do multiple things around the map for a myriad of reasons.
The most objective classes in the game would be Druid, Rogue, Hunter (occasionally shaman, but not as much).
They are classes with a considerably high skillcap in WSG due to this, and therefore the differences in players who plays those classes can have a massive impact on the games.

Where I'm going with this, is that if you look to pick up these classes, you should always be willing to listen, because people will throw a lot of criticism (hopefully constructive), which may come off in the wrong way, but trust me, during the heat of the moment when a lot of things are happening, and things have to be short and on point, you should instead seek out the essence of the message rather than the tone of the message. A lot of people are also very passionate about the game, so there's that.

I'm not saying people can be dicks for the sake of being dicks, and you have to take it, but this is one of the things you should be aware of when you play an objective class.

Be willing to listen to players who have played these classes for a long time, or are overall considerably knowledgeable about the game. It is in everyone's best interest to have the best game quality possible, and objective classes just have a lot to say on that front.

Alternatively, seek out some of the guides made on this forum. You might pick up a thing or two.

tl;dr BE WILLING TO LISTEN AND LEARN.

Ending note, please post any feedback in the feedback channel on the EU 19 Discord server, or contact anyone within the administartion or myself. We'll look to make the games of the best quality possible, but in order to do that, we'll need the help of everyone participating to make this a reality!

Thanks again everyone, we're looking to make this a weekly thing for now and go from there,
so look to queue WSG specific at 19:00 English Server Time every Friday!

In the future, we'll look to release a poll about changes in dates, or adding more games, so look out for that as well.

1. People need to learn to listen to the players that actually know how to play the game & read chat when they're typing out the entire fkn way to play in details & legit coaching them on how to win the game easily
2. Dumb fks that que druid, rogue & hunt should delete them right now or read the 1st point I made
3. Stop qing fkn healers

Do these 3 things & EU will maybe actually be somewhat enjoyable

Yes, I addressed all of these issues in my post. :)

We'll do what we can at the administrative side of things.

Reminder for people that the 100% exp buff that's currently active makes for a perfect time to create alts. This is even more relevant to those of you who play:

1) Mage on Alliance
2) Rogue on any faction
3) Healer on any faction
4) Non meta classes
5) Shaman (primarily resto, a few ele shamans should be ok) on any faction

Classes that would be needed the most are currently:

1) committed hunters
While there are people who have hunters available to them, these players are currently able to swap to a lot of different classes, and aren't really sticking to their hunters much. Besides, having a few hunter mains is something that's really needed for future pug environments. Ideally, you'd have 1-2 hunters on each team, consistently.

2) commited druids
This one is tricky, because it's a class that will generally require a lot out of the player. With that said, there should always be at the very least one experienced player on each team that should be able to guide/coach you every now and then. It's important that you are willing to listen and learn if you're just picking up the class.

Feel free to queue your main classes (even if they are affected by the current class stacking issue) during the first 1-2 games in order to see how comps are looking, but please be flexible. Be able to swap if needed. Alternatively, use the in-game community tab and look at which classes are looking to queue up.

Important note:

Ideally look to have classes on both factions in case we need to balance out the factions, but this wasn't a major issue looking at last week. Nonetheless, doesn't hurt to be prepared.

Again, huge pat on the shoulder to the EU community for showing up in such strong numbers and giving their support. Fkn love you guys. No homo ofc.

Update for last Friday's games (27th of March):

Overall, the games are looking good when it comes to the bigger picture. However, there is some micro-management that can be done a lot better. Compared to last week, people were A LOT slower at balancing out the factions as well as dealing with the class stacking and role stacking issues. They all got fixed at a later point, but I believe we can achieve the late game quality a lot faster if we work together on this.

With that said, at the end of the day, PuGs will be PuGs and it will be super hard to regulate them into perfection. No one should feel forced to log off their toon and play something else. However, if your best interest is the health of the bracket, I would strongly encourage a certain level of flexibility. If switching class is not an option, at least look to be able to swap spec in order to better balance out the games. I did see some mages swap to fire when there were an insane amount of arcane mages. Big kudos to those players. This is A LOT better than doing nothing.

I also believe that there is some flawed mentality amongst some of the more experienced players in the bracket currently. Remember, this is a revival and we're still in the very early stages. In order to get the quality games that we love, we have to be patient and work together. I absolutely believe there is solid ground and a lot of potential for quality games on EU. It will require dedication, and it most certainly will require teamwork.

With that said, I also see some of the experienced players truly being patient with some of the games and doing their best to address some of the issues I brought up. That's really good to see. Stuff like that goes a very long way to make a healthy bracket.

Good games, and see you again every Friday at 19:00 English Realm Time!

Not to rush things but you should think about adding more game nights imo.
Whole world is on quarantine and bored right now. Having only one wsg night a week is clearly wasting the potential. I believe most of you are aware that this revival wont last forever... just like every other revival this will die sooner or later. Why not make the most of the time we have right now?
Can only speak for myself but I just resubbed because I was told that 19s start to become active again. Now that friday is done I cant really convince myself to keep the sub just to wait for next friday. And I most likely wont put in the work to reroll other classes or factions when there is only one night a week with games.
It wont hurt to add 1-2 more nights imo. I think it would help to get people more excited about this.. there is no point to prepare and put in work for 3 hours of wsg a week.

Can't state how much I agree with the above.

This.

To address the topic about having more than one day of queues:

We are looking at adding more days, and there will be a poll on the EU 19 Discord about which day in the near future, but we'd like to see the results of how we addressed more pressing issues before moving into that. Like I also mentioned in an earlier post, the revival is still in its very early stages, and it's paramount that we think of the bracket as a whole in order to keep the level of success going in the long run.

Think of it this way. If a lot of the issues that have a negative impact on the games are not dealt with to the point where we can, in good faith, say that they are at an acceptable level (because PuGs will never be perfect, so there will always be some level of issues), then simply adding an extra day (or more) will only cause further exposure to the same problems, leading to no real improvement to the bracket except for having games for the sake of having games.

The thing is, if you have the mentality of "let's have games, purely for the sake of having games", then the bracket is living on borrowed time as a fact. We want to avoid this issue and have a healthy bracket. A bracket that will hopefully stay healthy for a long time if the community is willing to come together.

On that note, we will have a poll on the EU 19 Discord in the very near future about which extra day would be the most preferable to the community.
