Can mages do any damage?

Alright probably going to start making my first 19 twink an alliance mage. Thinking I should roll Human for perception racial to see rogues better.

My mage does 200 fireball crits. They have pretty decent dps, but if you're playing a mage for damage instead of utility/control, you're playing it for the wrong reasons. T1 class though

Yes I understand that a mage is used primarily for cc, but you might need to do some damage in some situations you know just curious thanks for the information.

Never do a fire damage set lol

I'd think the same way if I made a mage, the novelty of 40 extra damage on a crit compared to the hundreds of missing mana doesnt seem like a fair trade.

600 health too

With my fire set i have about 1.1k hp with no buffs and it can be crucial for some situations

1.1k health with straight fire damage in every slot? Care to share this gear planner with us?

honestly if you're gearing for full fire damage and trying to run around spamming fireball you're pretty much trolling your team. mage from a strictly offensive perspective is better off focusing on control and enabling your teammates to connect and land kills rather than trying to do damage yourself.

it's probably fun to stand around trying to do big fireball dmg in one-sided pug midfights or something, but in a somewhat balanced game, realistically no one is gonna let you afk in the back turreting max rank fireballs. pushback is brutal on mage and you can't afford to stay stationary for long periods of time otherwise you'll fall behind the play. all it takes is one hunter pet or a level 12 bear form druid hitting you and your fireball cast is now 3 weeks long

I'm not who you're asking but here's a 1.1k Fire set for Phase 3. It's missing +16 Fire to get there otherwise it'd be closer to 1k unless you go all the way with Focus librams and sit around 800hp. Half decent damage if you plan to combo with the bronze mortars as a gnome, but obviously not something you'd run on a competitive team.
