Classic Goldmaking For Dummys

I thought I'd post some of my gold making tactics so you can make gold easier. It doesn't have to be a grind. I'll go into greater depth as time goes on but for now we'll start simple. The first lesson is always ask. If someone is selling something in trade and they don't give a price then ask how much they want. Most are just trolling to get a higher price than its worth but occasionally you get the guy that has no idea how much his item is worth and you get it at a steal. The same works in dungeons when a good pattern drops. Tonight transmute water to undeath dropped. I greed rolled as did everyone else. The guy ended up giving it to me because he had no idea how much it was worth.

I made 800g just by asking a question.

For part 2 You absolutely have to get Trade Skill Master. I honestly find it hard to believe how many people aren't using this addon. The learning curve is high but the one thing that rivals it is the amount of extra gold you will make. If nothing else use it to get highly accurate prices on items. It requires very little setup to do this. If anyone else in that ST group had tsm I probably wouldn't have gotten that recipe worth 800g for 2g. Another advantage of tsm is that you don't have to manually scan to get accurate prices. If you have it set up correctly scans are already done for you. Manual scans are the biggest failing of auctioneer. You may scan everyday and never scan a particular item and don't get an accurate price.

If you decide to go further than just using it for price checks then the first thing you'll want to do is start flipping mats. There's already a good video guide out there on how to set up tsm.

Sheyrah has a few videos on how to learn tsm and you should watch them all. I personally believe her price strings are shit but they are made for someone brand new to tsm and made so you won't lose gold so don't be afraid to use them. Once you get some experience with it you'll learn how to make your own price strings.

I'm going to start with herbs because you can do it with practically any amount of gold. Once you're setup in tsm you can shop for particular items and if you do it right you shop for multiple items at once. You want to buy at 80% and sell at 100%. It's very important to check region market average to make sure you're buying at a good price. You're going to shop herbs at server value but that price can be manipulated easily. Region price will give you a pretty good idea if the price is legit. Allybeboba's comment reminded me that it also helps to look at historical for higher dollar items. If historical is higher than region then the price of the item is dropping and should be considered if the item may not sell quickly.

The first two pics show good buys. The third pic shows a potentially bad buy. The region market value is much lower than the listed price.

More to come soon.

Part 3 Flipping Boe's

First of all it's best to get a good feel flipping cheap mats before you dive into flipping boe's. You can lose your ass trying to flip boe's if you don't know what you're doing. When you start you should start small. The hardest part about it is every server is different. I can't tell you what prices to buy at, you will just have to figure that out yourself. My server in particular has a lot of boe's for sale at very low prices. Don't get into auction wars because deposit fees will eat you up. If someone insists on undercutting you every time you post a certain item let them. You will sell yours eventually when he isn't online.

You will want to buy and sell at region market average. I personally buy at 40% and lower to leave room for profit, deposit costs and price drops. To list items at region market you will go to settings>shopping/sniper. At the top will be a value you can change. You will want to put in dbregionmarketavg and hit enter. Always be aware of what setting you're using because it changes depending on what you're buying.

On to selling and making a profit. If you've watched the tutorials hopefully you've learned a bit about auctioning operations. For this operation you want to set minimum price to dbregionmarketavg. Set normal to 125%dbregionmarketavg and set max price to 150%dbregionmarketavg. Make sure to set not post if below minimum, when above max post at max and the duration is 2 hours. Not a bad idea to make sure you're only posting one as well in case you have multiples.

A couple examples from tonight's sales. You can see I paid 12g for Legguards of the Vault so thats a pretty good profit. The Black Ogre Kickers I paid 6 so still a decent profit for doing nothing.

Stay tuned there is more to come.

So your goldmaking guide is to run dungeons and hope you can scam your party members when you dont win rolls.

Take from it what you will. If thats what you got from it then fine. I didn't scam anyone, I simply asked what they wanted for it and they gave it to me.

Reading comprehension is hard I know. You know the part that says we'll start simple and go into greater depth later. But yeah this is the whole fucking guide. What the fuck? Read what I said or shut the fuck up. You don't have to like what I say or do. I'm trying to give good info to people that want it. If you don't want it then move along.

You kiss your dad with that mouth?

How much gold per hour do you expect with this guide?

Of course you do - you're known for helping yourself to things that you didn't earn.
Hey man, you've been really upset for three days, including Christmas, hope you weren't mean to your family, might want to check your blood pressure and put down the alcohol?

Hey now, socialists can’t get mad for being called socialists. I get that Hitler has fanbois like you trying to defend him from the socialist accusation but he named his party that for a reason - he wore evil proudly. You should wear yours just as proud until you’re ready to denounce it.

I buy items when they are cheap and sell them to people when they are expensive.
The key is to know your market. I pretty much only concentrate only on 4-6 items. One the items i concentrate on currently I may only make 5-20 silver profit. However, so far I have turned over 52,000 of this item.
Some people’s strategy is to make HUGE profits off one or two sales. My strategy is to make small profits with TONS of sales.
The key is to watching pricing trends and knowing when to take advantage of those pricing trends.

Actual Gold Making Guide:
Don't tell your secrets to strangers.

A lot of truth to this but I'm confident enough in my gold making abilities that I can overcome competition.

This is very true. I make most of my gold on small profits at very large margins.

How much time do you spend at mailbox and listing/relisting?

How much time do you spend at mailbox and listing/relisting?

Flipping mats I only post once a day. I spend maybe 10-15 minutes shopping a day but don't shop every day. For most crafting and boe's I repost every 2 hours but I use a second account so that makes it much easier. That said I recommend posting 2 hours for boe's because deposit costs are still crippling if not done right. For alchemy I post 8 hours because the deposit costs are low enough to justify it. I haven't gone into flipping boe's yet but I will.

Edit

TSM makes posting very simple once its set up. You just hit post and it scans auctions to see if they're in your price range and then you just click through them to post them. If they're not in your price range it won't even give you the option to post them. If you set it up right you can't lose gold from crafting. Again I'll get into that later but the videos are out there so you don't have to wait for me to update. Samadan also has some very good tutorial vids out there if you're interested.
