Hunter's Pets and Leveling XP Management Mini Guide

What, you said you used 8 hunters in premade games. I'm saying in premade games (guild vs guild) their will be x2 class limit obviously.

8 Hunter Twinks n a group que vs randoms should win lol.

It sounded like you meant there will be programmatic filters based on class composition like there are in retail.

You say there will obviously be class limits for premades. Maybe that's obvious to you lol. We would agree on a few limits on consumables but that was it back in the day.

That's probably best discussed in a separate thread. And from what I remember, these rules would change from one GuildvGuild to the next.

To bring it back around then, assuming for @Bowner that there's only two hunters per team, all the more reason for everyone to run a boar pet.

x2 hunter x2 priest max will be the minimum for any knowledgeable guild leader.

TBH I think for a better premade meta, x1 hunter x1 priest would be interesting to discuss. It makes both classes that much more important to where you chose to place them on the field.

On light's hope (vanilla Pserver) lot of the scheduled games were x1 hunter, but always x2 priest less shortage on one. It was nice because it would allow another player of diff class to play as well.

If both teams running 1 Hunt / 1 Priest I think you'd want to fight with your EFC / Team stacked Mid trying to bait the enemy's EFC + Support to come out for a Mid fight. So basically we'd see more Mid Fights in those type of games

What's with all the house rules? I guess I'm not a knowledgeable guild leader because we didn't bother putting restrictions on things.

Hi guys, only had a hunter twink after WOTLK so I might be going full retard here but I need some clarification.

If I'm not mistaken pets literally run away if you forget to feed them. Meaning you would have to re-tame them.

With this entire guide being about taming and leveling pets. Does this mean that if u forget to feed your pet once (after you're level 19) and your pet flees, you've lost your level 19 pet and now have to play with a lvl 12 pet which you can't level anymore cuz ur 19.x already and now your twink is basically crap cuz ur playing with some low level pet? Or how does this work?

I'm looking into leveling my Boar to 19 as main pet. But if my twink is fucked as soon as I forget about it once, I won't be twinking a hunter.

Damn, you must not be a very loving pet owner if they run away after one missed meal...

It's more difficult than you remember to lose your pet.

https://www.lassirra.net/2019/08/12/pets-taming-loyalty-happiness-and-feeding/

After reviewing this it has raised a few questions for me:

Loyalty and happiness are different. Loyalty has up to 6 levels and to increase each level takes 5% of the hunters current level in xp gained by the pet + a time gate that increases per level.

The higher loyalty the pet is, the longer it will stay 'happy' & require less feeding.

My question is about loyalty. Will you have to keep farming mobs for your pet to stay loyal or will keeping it happy through feeding prevent this entirely?

yes your pet will gain happiness just by being fed

source: i have rank 6 loyalty level 19 pets

I see, so keeping it happy will stop you losing loyalty levels.

The key thing to remember is that as loyalty goes up your pet needs much less food. You rarely have to feed them once they reach 'best friend' status. Keeping your pet fed should be like 101, it buffs the dmg for Christ sake, how do you ignore it?

Alright I'm gonna level 3 boars.
What are the coolest boars obtainable under 19? I'm really fashionable.

What? I really do not understand your logic.

feels like i still have to feed my pet every hour at least even with rank 6 loyalty using the highest level food possible

gonna be funny seeing how much food hunters burn though who have poor pet control considering they lose happiness every time they die

Damn, y'all should roll a different class if feeding your pet is too burdensome.

Leveling 3 boars to 19 will take up 3/4 of your level, so have fun doing that for no reason...

I don't believe they do in the BG. [INCORRECT]

UPDATE: Pets will lose happiness from dying in a BG. Keep that food well stocked rangers!
