DH and DK now start at level 1.

Boostz or Boots
I thought there might have already been a thread about this here, or at least mentioned more, given the fact that Shadowlands introduces 2 new classes to 10-49.

I know twinking in live isn't super popular at the moment, and no doubt the introduction of battlegrounds in classic will be where the majority of the twinking activity will be, but I just thought it was an interesting addition as a whole.

So yeah, pretty neat.

Source? Also this sounds more like a shadowlands thing

Every race and class will start in exile’s reach. This is the new universal starting area. It’s speculated that, for a social kind of gameplay, DH and DK will start there as well. However, this isn’t confirmed yet. The area will be unlocked when shadowlands hit.

O and: from lvl 10 you can go everywhere; classic, TBC, wotlk, cata, mop, wod, legion or BFA. They haven’t said how that works with dungeons etc., but looks promising, gear and Xmog wise

Can you leave the area before the quests tho?

Um... sorry, but that's not even remotely accurate.

Shadowlands™ New-character Starting-experiences (as announced, could be changed):
  • First character on a new account:
    • New "Exile's Reach" starting-experience.
    • Should to be Level-10 when complete.
  • Subsequent characters (Primary races, Non-DK, Non-DH)
    • Have the option of starting in their Race's traditional starting zone.
    • Level when completed might vary.
  • Traditional-Race Death-Knights
    • Traditional DK starting-experience instead of "Exile's Reach".
    • Level-10 when complete.
  • New 8.3-Race Death-Knights
    • New DK starting-experience instead of "Exile's Reach".
    • Level-10 when complete.
  • Demon-Hunters
    • Traditional DH starting-experience instead of "Exile's Reach".
    • Level-10 when complete.
  • Any remaining Allied-Races
    • Traditional Allied-race starting-experience instead of "Exile's Reach".
    • Level-10 when complete.
Almost all of this was addressed in the BlizzCon™ Deep-dive panel, with some extra clarifications from the MrGM follow-up interview.

So what does this mean for existing toons that will be over level 10 after the algorithm places there new level? Does this mean we will have access to quest and experience any expansions content? Making all brackets of twinks the Remotely the same in terms of bis?

This is close to a year away. At least 9 months for the major patch before the expansion. We have plenty of time for speculation. This happens to very two years on this forum.
We have been discussing the implications of the new expansion in another thread.

/cheers

This is the “real question” that I want to know. Will everything 60 and below get squished to 10? Or is there some sort of ratio being used.
Too early to tell at the moment.

Existing subbed characters that are Lvl-10 in Shadowlands™ will supposedly have two choices.
  1. Wander a world very similar to its current form, with different zones set to different levels.
  2. Talk to Chromie (a.k.a. "Chromie Time!"), and "timewalk" the content of any expansion(s) until you rapidly hit Lvl-50.
How exactly that effects mounts, dungeons, raids, F2Ps, or VETs... has yet to be determined.

Agreed. Wild speculation is fun and all... but people are going to give themselves aneurisms at this rate!

They described it as "120-->50, with everything scaling smoothly in-between, with no change in perceived power".

If interpreted "literally", then the formula would be:
(CurrentLevel - 1) * (49 / 119) + 1 = NewLevel

on 2 servers with a level 70+, never rolled DHs there. wonder if i should roll a DH to have some free +100's before the squish?

Would you not think that the level range for existing players would be 10-50? Seeing that Dk only get a couple levels from their starting zone and DH only get like 2 without heirlooms.... it's weird how those should work comparably.

I guess theyd just up the XP for everything DH, even more inflated than it already is.

edit- oops... unless the amount of experience is similar already and just net less result due to character level. Hrmm.

edit2- stoked as hell for lowbie DK/DH, BTW.
