WOW SHADOWLANDS ANNOUNCED LEVEL SQUASH INC

I think the rabid "F2P speculators" need to take a deep breath, and ask themselves four questions:

1. "What was Blizzard's goal in creating Trial accounts?"

2. "What was Blizzard's goal in creating Veteran characters?"

3. "How has Blizzard shaped the current game to accommodate those goals?"

4. "How might Blizzard shape this new-leveling-experience to accommodate those same goals?"

Some seem to think that Blizzard is suddenly going to declare all of this a "failed experiment", and simply hold all twinks hostage until they pay-up. I suppose that's technically a possibility, but destroying an entire playerbase that they intentionally created seems counterintuitive...

...so if we presume that our twinks will still be playable, how will Blizzard integrate them with those aforementioned goals?

I certainly have my own theories about how this might eventually play-out, but my "wild speculation" high is waning... and at this point I'm content to wait until we get some more "facts". ;)

You're asking these questions, but you're not answering them. Let's say those answers aren't as clear-cut and obvious as you imply. I think there's a value in you actually stating what you think the answers to those questions are--particularly question 2.

Because if you believe that Blizzard extended Trial Account rules to existing accounts in order to create and support a thriving twinking community, I think that's madness.

Really seems to be that this 10-50 scaling will only be available to alts of a main that has already leveled to 60. If that's how they're doing it, I can see the power gap between vets and f2p widening to the point that f2ps just quit/reroll a vet

Do you predict that a new player to the game will have a different leveling experience from 10-50 than everyone else? What would that be? And why would they make it separate?

From their choice of words, yeah it seems to only affect alts ... but as they are bad at expressing themselves (it's "only" the 4th time of the day), take a step back from their words ;)

I predict new starting zones reminiscent of class-trial tutorials only with a walking dead type of survive the zombie apocalypse theme and you're character is Carl. Noobs level with the same scaling they already have; the only difference being in the level squish. I can see pure starter editions that aren't linked getting one to three new zones, but vets will have access to everything up to BFA including socket, item sets and weapons with procs that put them so far ahead of f2p that trial account twinking becomes entirely PVE focused unless they feel like getting 1-2 shot every time they try to pvp. Why would they do this? Because leveling an alt is supposed to benefit your main simulataneously now.

Morning nerds
I watched the MrGM 45 min interview just now

nothing really new learned other than

DK and DH start at level 10
gonna guess it's because of the party sync mode and some of us thought it would be fun to use hero-classes to reck others.

Ok just watched the deep dive wow thing

new players(starter account too?) can Only level in BFA at 10. They also only get the exiles reach zone. Not the old starter zones.

Other people can pick an xpak. And you are NOT stuck with just that, you can go to any other one. They are also able to pick exiles reach if they want.

OLD STARTER ZONES ARE STAYING

level 120 becomes 50
There will be an algorithm that squishes lower levels.

it was mentioned that you will have the same power, and be able to do the same things you once were. (No specific level given for this statement.)

Exiles reach looks like a very large zone with lots to explore many mob types etc who knows if it will have anything interesting or collectible.

"Veteran players will be approached by Chromie, who senses they have done Battle for Azeroth before - And offer them the opportunity to level in any expansions! You will be able to choose your expansion to level on and change at any time, in case you need a change of pace."

So ... if they are tallking about the same "veterans" as us ... why are they talking about being able to level up in any expansion content ... if vets are lvl caped ...
Would that mean that the level cap is over 10?

ThinkingFace

It's just to lauch some more debates :D my own opinion is that their "veterans" is not our "vets" and that they're not talking about F2Ps

They 100% aren't talking about veteran accounts.

allied races starting at 10 point towards starter edition capped at 10. not sure about zone limitations but my guess is either
a) only classic will be available to quest in, but can travel anywhere.
b) all old expansions scale up to 50, but have min requirements. e.g. hellfire peninsula, borean tundra, etc. scale from 10-50 but zangarmarsh, dragonblight, etc. scale from 20-50. so starter edition can do the starting zone of each expansion.
c) both, so no change from now in terms of quests, but might be able to farm rares

Well ... Q&A is over, and nothing relevant to F2P / lvl20 matters ... except maybe the ability to tmog weapons into legendaries ... which are far from our main concerns currently :D
gonna guess they'll release the info. when they'll release the info. then.
