I will be updating this OP with any new info. It will be a jumbled mess but it will be informative.
———————————
Shadowlands will introduce a new leveling system, meant to provide a meaningful sense of advancement with every level achieved. Current max-level characters will begin Shadowlands at level 50 and work toward the new level cap of 60.

https://www.wowhead.com/news=295961/new-world-of-warcraft-expansion-revealed-shadowlands

From levels 1-50, you'll be able to choose the expansion that you want to level in. Leveling through an expansion's storyline should get you close to level 50. Want to experience Icecrown? You can level a new character from level 1 onwards through Northrend.

This was changed because sometimes, you would play through one and a half zones of say Pandaria and wouldn't get to experience the full storyline.

We’re also updating the new-player experience to showcase more of the best World of Warcraft has to offer. New players will begin their journey in a whole new level 1–10 experience. Players will then be able to level from 10–50 in Battle For Azeroth or any expansion they wish to experience from start to finish. Finally, they’ll move on into Shadowlands, where players can go from level 50–60.

^^^^^^^creds to @Sin'dor for pointing this out. F2p changes??????? New vet cap 10 all but confirmed?

New players(starter edition?) can only 1-10 in Exiles Reach and then ONLY level in BFA
Other people can pick old start zone or exiles reach. They can level wherever they want at 10

It was stated that your power level will be the same and you will still be able to do the same things you currently can.

Nah, that's not what's written Current max-level characters will begin Shadowlands at level 50 and work toward the new level cap of 60 Meaning, by reading it, that it affects ONLY max-level players, and IN Shadowlands. Except if they really badly wrote their text Moreover, the Heroic and Epic give a lvl120 boost, meaning that it should still be a lvl120 boost even when Shadowlands gets released. So, imo, there is still the same leveling experience until lvl120. And that change from level 120, when you enter Shadowlands you are level 50 and work towards 60, and would set the new "end level" for next expac But we'll know more about it in the next presentations

this is what Brihan in the lvl 20 discord had to comment, i think its a valid prediction. we will know more soon

Yeah, for me and only according to the text we have currently, this seems to affect only *current max-level characters* when they start Shadowlands. We need to wait for the other wow presentations to have more details, but for now I see it kinda like the TESO leveling system.
You level from 1 to 50 (which is our current wow 1-120 progression), and then you have "prestige levels" and get a new level starting at lvl1, and which would correspond to that lvl50 indicated in the text, only accessible to max-level characters once they start Shadowlands. And next expansions would continue on that system.
It's just a comparison to get the idea of getting a new "level-system" once you get to a certain level.

Once again it's how *I* see it, with the information I have access to currently. I'm open to discuss about it, I just need convincing words ;)

I think @Brihan is spot on (without doing any more reading than what's been posted on this site)

I think this may be a "pre squish" IE, just end game gets what Brihan referred to as "prestige levels" while we still level to 120. Then, I figure we can probably expect the NEXT xpac to see this squish applied universally. Shadowlands gets folks used to the idea of their toons being 60 instead of 120 so it's less of a shock (and less outrage) when it's applied to the whole game.

It would appear that this is a full level squish, affecting all brackets. Our regular talent rows are now attached to these levels. https://www.wowhead.com/news=295969/shadowlands-talent-unlock-levels-still-seven-talent-rows

With the Shadowlands demo open, we've been able to have an early look at the talents in the next expansion. While there is a level squish, with the max level going from 120 to 60, seven talent rows remain. These level rows are:
  • Row 1 - level 15
  • Row 2 - level 25
  • Row 3 - level 30
  • Row 4 - level 35
  • Row 5 - level 40
  • Row 6 - level 45
  • Row 7 - level 50
As the level cap in Shadowlands is 60, it appears there are no new talents earned when leveling from BFA's level cap to the next level. Buffed.de ran an interview with Ion Hazzikostas in which Ion once again stated that they want to get back to a point where every level has an impact on the character, admitting that in BFA, players didn't have much to look forward to and just got weaker every level. It remains to be seen what will be done to make leveling exciting, if so far the talent structure seems to remain the same in the demo.

in case anyone cant use Wowhead

Ok, it's happening ...

"Max-level 120 characters get scaled to 50, and everything is scalled smoothly inbetween"

"On your alts, we want to give you the option to play through the storyline of any single expansion in its entirety, to get you from 1 to 50. You wanna play Pandaria? Play through the whole thing!"

Might open more things than expected ...
I just expect that F2Ps don't get "too much", because after all the chalenge comes from limitations ^^

With that point, we might get access to parts of the different expansions, but surely not all, as it seems that we can start leveling from lvl1 in any expansion.
OR
They can simply apply a world scaling where everything is to your level .... might be too much for me, and the only difference between f2p and p2p would become the last expansion + some limitations due to level such as mounts, goldcap dungeons and raids

The only point i'm not sure is wether this leveling mechanic is available to anyone from scratch, or if it only works on "alts" after getting a main to max-level

There's the clarity, and now the nerves are setting in for how this affects f2p

well I am looking forward to seeing how this 1-50 anywhere is going to work. Really looking forward to the beta and any info that I can get my hands on tbh.
