39 BiS Standards (All Classes) Updated for Phase 5!

Outofspace

Sogeking / Deeps
Soge's Vanilla Classic BiS Standards

I've managed to craft a decent library of 39 loadouts for useful and popular builds, figured I'd share them. 39s rely on so much BoE gear that it's hard to keep track of everything you should be hunting, and I think a quick and dirty set of lists all in one place will be handy.

Looking for TBC lists? They're here!

If anyone wants to see something not listed just let me know and I'll add it. I'm not the authority, and nothing here is set in stone - do share any suggestions or issues you find.

NOTE: All builds are based on phase 5 gear and require zero rep. Also, you can get +7 Sniper Scope applied by a higher level toon.

TALENTS: Remember that these aren't definitive and meant as guidelines only. There's a ton of viable builds, and I'm up for adding any that people deem noteworthy so don't hesitate to put your own twist on them. That being said, these talents represent a wealth of shared experience and knowledge - much of which has been gleaned from these very forums and will serve as a solid foundation.

Druid Gear - FC / Talents: FC, Feral
Druid Gear - Heals / Talents - Resto
Druid Gear - Boomer / Talents - Balance
Druid Gear - Feral DPS / Talents - Feral Furor

Hunter Gear - Survival / Talents - Survival, Trap Master
Hunter Gear - Marksman, DPS / Talents - Marksman, MM Entrapment

Mage Gear - Fire / Talents - Max Fire, Anti-Resist

The only reason this bothers me is probably because I'm slightly on the spectrum, but I would just avoid the term bis entirely.

You can 100% say that a set is maximum int possible, maximum +shadow possible, etc... You really can't say this is the de facto bis set for specs like enhance because everyone has different (wrong) opinions on it.

Great start though. I'll post some of my lists when I get home.

Totally agree, however I think the term has always been a bit cheeky with subjective undertones. I'm fine using different terminology, but I think most people know BiS is somewhat open to interpretation.

Also, as I noted the list is probably best used as a BoE guide, and I think it paints a clear enough picture for that.

No I would stick with swampies personally, but can understand why someone would favor those. I favor Str only when it's a 1:1 trade with Agi, and I also favor more offensive stats if I can trade 1:1. Again though, there's room for different opinions for sure.

I favor Str only when it's a 1:1 trade with Agi

But it's not just 1:1 for agi:str, you're getting stam too. I see that you favor offensives, but I don't see the value here.

Just my opinion too, not saying youre "wrong". Saying str AND stam is likely "better" than agility and less stam, just losing one point of stat. Not really seeing all the value placed on AGI for enhance in classic, even your sheet there only has it at 8.95% crit. o_O

Yeah the crit is low because of all the Bear choices. If you devalue Agi that much then you would probably want a 12/12 bear chest as well as a different neck piece. Nothing wrong with that either but I favor balanced ratios of Str/Agi/Stam.

I'm less concerned about the chest since you're only giving up 4 str (and 12 stam tho) for 19 agi on a high-offensive decision. Tossing 9 str (and 3 stam) for 13 agi doesn't rub me the same way, tho. Really tho, neither is gamebreaking. :)

To be honest, even tho it seems minimal, the stam is probably the more ideal stat to be concerned with. At 39 anyway.

Yeah wowhead is more accurate in terms of rolls. It's terrible at knowing what gear is available at what level, among other things. Although it looks like my whole account seems to be borked rn though at sixtyupgrades. Could be worth migrating.

Very very minor, and maybe knit-picking but I opened up Fire Mage, wouldn't Necklace of Calisea be slightly better by 1 stat point?

https://sixtyupgrades.com/set/hNZ93LYbNrGHSJ9w7Eo5cL this is what I ideally would use for FCing. I think the set you linked has too low mana

MH can be swapped for argent custodian, just had skullbreaker on for some reason.

Yeah mana is a bit low, people should feel free to mix and match 'of stamina' with eagle gear in any slot where they can. Personally I wouldn't be trading out the Pith Helm or any other blues for eagle greens, but if you really want mana it makes sense. If that's true though I find Seargent's Cape over eagle cloak to be odd. Also there's no +healing on gloves.

Having a big mana pool is essential; if you're stacking stamina you might as well play a warrior instead since you're not gonna be able to shift as much as is required. So if I interpret you correct regarding the head slot, you're saying 14 stam > 12 stam 12 int? I personally don't understand the reasoning behind that stat weight at all but to each their own. You also pick Ogron's (9 stam) > 9 stam 9 int? Same with OH, you choose 5 stam over 12 int 5 stam. You also choose 10 stam 1 int > 8 stam 7 int for neck which is also really questionable.

The reason for choosing Sargeant's Cape over Wing of the Whelpling is that it has such high armor compared to the other available options but I guess it's preference.

If we just compare the raw stats of your setup vs mine:

https://sixtyupgrades.com/set/qC2f3dsNuUB6tPK5FeEieV (mine): 2.9k hp, 3.7k mana

https://sixtyupgrades.com/set/oSRLVMzMCei2jNZWzcmkMG (your): 3k hp, 2.6k mana

So all in all, you're willing to trade 1k mana for 100 hp?

Edit: dont wanna come off as a negative nancy, i think the gearlists as a whole are really good.

Agility is a good defensive stat. Spirit is also really good for druids. I've always been a 'balance' style twinker who finds value in what some people consider useless off stats. They don't count anywhere near as much but that's probably the key your missing in my logic. Thanks for the good questions. I'm a bit crammed this weekend be it I'll take a closer look at your comparison soon.
