EU+US Yeti mog , TCG codes, Pet/mount shop : F2P or not F2P ?

With the usual caveat that GMs don't know a damn thing about this game, I've been told that store items are delivered directly into your collections tab, even for starter account toons

afaik shop is disabled unless youre subbed.

Shop has been available for vet/F2P for... a month? Two months? I don't remember. Very recent change and there wasn't any official announcement.

Tried it like yesterday. On a vet, havent checked on a one of my pure f2p acc.

It's really about YOU first, and not what others think ...
F2P is a way of playing. Enjoy the game and don't think about the others ;)
But if it's just to /flex with money-payed things, i'll find pretty weird to do it on a f2p :D

I wondering if those things are considering as F2P for you or not, let me know.
Just to get your original question out of the way (it would've made a good "poll"): I personally would not consider purchasable items part of F2P.

[...] But that all comes down to *why* your playing f2p and what you're looking to get out of it.
There's been a great deal of valuable insight in this thread... but @Chops pretty-much summed it all up with that one sentence. ;)

Different people are impressed by different things:
  • If you somehow collect everything that a Trial Account can obtain "...by any means necessary", then people will be impressed by that.
  • If you choose to add extra account restrictions (non-linked, no purchases, etc.), then some may be more-impressed by that.
  • If you want to add extra in-game restrictions (solo-play, single-toon, etc.), then a few may be even-more impressed by that.
...but in the end, the most important person to impress is yourself.

I certainly don't expect anyone to give a damn about all of the #UltraSoloF2P nonsense that I subject myself to... but I'm still proud that I've been able to endure it for almost eight years!

[...] Despite what EA might want you to think buying things doesn't really give a sense of pride and accomplishment, [...]
Heh... :D

TL;DR: All it takes to play F2P "correctly", is to consistently abide by whatever restrictions you may have set for yourself! o_O

I really hesitate... Because I tell myself that if I don't take the transmo Yeti, I'll never get it again.

My personal stance is it doesn't matter.

I mean, we're talking about so many things that have been available to us due to bugs that by all accounts would seemingly make your account not pure. Death knights and the account bug that resulted in some F2P accounts acting like paid accounts are the two most egregious. If you have Precious Ribbon are you not a pure F2P anymore?

For me, it has always been about getting around the level restrictions and account restrictions in anyway to acquire things I shouldn't have. That's always been the fun to me. To me that's the F2P mindset.

As others have said, you have to decide for yourself. Frankly, I like most of you but I don't care what you think of the state of my account. Don't miss out on something you like or want because others might think you're not F2P imo.

Since access to the shop for F2Ps is a very recent feature that wasn't announced. I am considering a new and completely separate pure F2P account that I would drop some money on in case this was an "Oops!" and eventually gets GFed.

So I can get Tabard of flames and 10 pets from TCG and still pure ?
this is starting to feel antagonistic. Are you trying to walk me into some sort of hypocrisy here?

The TGC rewards are rewards from a different game. Like the pets and mounts we can get from playing hearthstone and HotS. The only reason they cost any significant money now is the game no longer exists. And you aren't paying blizzard, you're paying a collector. You could, in theory, happen across these items for free. Perhaps a gaming store clearing out some forgotten inventory or the like.

Whereas buying from the in-game store is the ONLY way to get those pets and requires paying Blizzard a fee on a game you're claiming to play for free. It also puts you in a position of being able to buy the constantly changing inventory. At that point, since you're spending money on the very account you're insisting is "free" why not just spend $15 bucks for a month of game time to buy a bunch of pets off the AH? It is, in essence, the same thing.

f2p hasnt felt pure since early wod i dunno why people still care so much lmao

anyone remember when u actually had to get your boas from grinding bgs/dmf instead of just spawning them from the collections tab

Just logged into an old HotS/HS B.net account, seriously considering making 1 F2P character in WoW, and testing the waters on this impure F2P project.
