EU+US 8.2.5 testing and discussion

There is no "meta" dude, because there are no wargames. FC on whatever you like.

Look up what the term "meta" means in the world of gaming. Wargames are not specific to the term.
And I am going to FC on whatever I like, regardless. I simply stated that I am curious as to how they'll change the meta with their double jump. Not whether or not I should play them.

lol ok bub.

Added a "further questions I need to check on" section to the first post.
Here's another one...
  • Is there a minimum level required for earning "Replay Rewards", or could a Lvl-1 (or perhaps Lvl-5) keep syncing with brand-new characters until they eventually grind a full "Replay Set" for themselves? :D

Ooooooo

I suppose that's worth knowing. I would assume the answer is that yes, they can. But I can try to confirm that.

Mad props to both @Chops and @Ashlander f
  • What happens when you're "synced" with another player, and they accept a quest that you're not the correct race/class for? What about subsequent quests that use that quest as a prerequisite? (For example... a Paladin guiding a "newly-made Troll" normally wouldn't be offered any of the starting-area quests, because they lack a corresponding Class Trainer to initiate the Echo Isles quest-chains.)
That was interesting question. Leveled muscle pally and logged a new troll on PTR. Seems like nope, it doesn't work =/ edit: maybe because my lvl too small.
Before applying party sync

nothing changed

I appreciate the experiment... how about some follow-ups? ;)
  1. This really needed a "control" for comparison... (i.e., did syncing with the new Troll actually behave differently than syncing with a new Tauren?) Like you said, there could be "other factors" at work.
  2. Is it possible that after staying sync'd with the new Troll through enough quests, you would eventually be able to "re-enter" the Echo Isles questline at a different point?
Thanks again to everyone testing this stuff... it's kinda' distracting to keep thinking of possible things that Quest-Syncing might enable when I'm trying to get work done! :D

Party Sync PvP
We werent able to que for BGs (obvs)
Obviously because there aren't any BG queues on PTR or because you cant party sync into low level BGs?

BGs would have required a significant number of people queing, which isn't really a thing on the ptr in the 20s.

We attempted to form a wargame but the command wasn't working. Not sure if it's been disabled or just doesn't work on the ptr.

I'm 99% comfortable saying the results we saw in arenas will be the same results you'll see in BGs.

You need an addon to wargame. I think its called WargameHelper. Both raid leaders need it

Party Sync PvP
We werent able to que for BGs (obvs) but we did get arena ques. Party sync does work for pvp and scales your higher level toon down to 29.

(This is contrary to how party sync is described in the official announcement, but whatever. Im not salty. Nope. Not at all)

The high level toons gear will scale to ilvl 33, regardless of what ilvl it actually is. We tested this on a 39 warrior of mine, as well as a level 70ish DK and a lvl 102ish DH.

Higher level toons have their enchants and weapon/gear procs disabled, even if these enchants are useable by regular vet toons. My 39 warriors scepters did not proc, nor did crusader. Ring enchants, minor speed, satyr, etc are all disabled. Trinket procs and on-use are disabled. Notable exception: rune forging enchants on my DK worked. But that was it.

DKs and DHs do have some skill restrictions. They are restricted to their first tier of talents and all skills at that talent rows level. So DKs will have level 56 and lower skills, DHs will have level 100 skills and lower. This gives them a remarkable kit, but no enchants and fairly low level gear for a 29. They are, essentially, similar to a well geared F2P... with spammable slows, insane mobility, AoE stuns, etc.

So, what about Skills of other classes at higher levels? Will all higher skills, than those that would be available for a 29, be disabled?

I don't know if this was mentioned already -> On PTR I can que for BGs with my xpoff charater!!

it probably no doubt puts you into xpoff queue. Let me also tell you, everything was NOT disabled or completely locked in. Some do work, and can provide a decent unique advantage even with the static gear. Just keep looking around a bit. Of course, if everyone geared up while leveling it wouldn't work, but they don't so it will. However, I was not able to test this in arena or bg so it may be different.

Edit: I'm sure I didn't find everything, and I am not being specific because if it does work, maybe I am being paranoid but every time I say something or something gets specified I see on this site it seems to very quickly get patched so I am just gonna generically suggest it this time. Also, definitely go DH, they gain the most out of this to boot indeed. You will see why quickly enough.

That's the kicker, my man

When you party sync in the open world, your stuff still works for the most part because you only scale down to 60 at most.

When you enter instanced PVP, you're scaled down to 29 and that's when you'll see a bit more disabled stuff, like greyed out enchants and the like.

No doubt blizzard missed some stuff that will still work (like black magic worked in BGs for all of legion) but that'll take some real hunting to find.

Can you only replay quests for a chance at the reward once? I was replaying the quests for the crates but when I re-synced with my friend (who swapped to another character), there was no chance to get the crates.
