Cost of twinking a level 20?

I'm new to the forums so forgive me if this has already been discussed elsewhere, but how much gold should I prepare to twink one character? It is already geared properly (except for Parachute cloak and engineering helm) and all I need is to level up engineering/alchemy and purchase the enchants. I intend to farm the most easily-obtainable materials, although anything that requires high-level professions or has very rare drop rates will have to be purchased.

Prices vary between servers and regions, but just an estimative would already help me. I haven't played seriously since MoP so my professions aren't profitable and the only way I know to farm gold fast is killing mobs in Isle of Giants; any advice on that would be greatly appreciated too. Thanks in advance.

It really comes down to how much you want your toon to be bis or not and what class you're playing. Like if you want to bis say a boomy you'd want epic foamspittle which is like 200-300k and then if you want to go absolute bis can get like black widow band which price varies from server to server, but i'd say for general gear not including epics, depending on server for engi/alch mats vs if you farm your own maybe 30-40k per char not including the boe epics

if you just wanna hold your own weight you honestly will probably only have to pay around 20-50k (50k being high end, unless you're on bleeding hollow, which if that is the case you're gonna pay 50k+ for professions alone.)

if you wanna go absolutely gung ho ape shit you could easily over 1m+ on a vet, but the different isn't anything insane honestly, budget twinks are pretty much just as powerful as the ones that spend a lifes savings on a 20. obviously the big spenders will have that little edge, but its not rly anything to break the bank for imo. unless you strike out on weps then have fun buying pacifiers / slicer blades / pale skinners, whatever it may be.

I gotta disagree with Ohti. You can make a perfectly overpowered twink for as low as 10k gold.

The auction house on my servers is among the worst, I'll probably have to double any estimatives ;(. But I'm not going for BiS, just enchanting my current gear and leveling professions (while gathering the main resources like ores and stuff myself), so maybe 20~30k?

I intended to work on these 3 characters but will probably only twink the Hunter if it gets too expensive :(

If you're on BH I'll help you with professions and enchants.

Worse, I'm on the brazilian servers and created my twinks on the least populated ones. Thinking back that wasn't really a good idea lol. Thanks for the offer though :)

Just make something on bleeding hollow. I’m feeling generous, I’ll max your engineering and help you with your enchants

Honestly its not the most expensive bracket to twink in (unless perhaps you wanna buy the purps) alot of it is getting lucky with the purple drops

Hey guys, I have a few more questions if you don't mind:

1- Average cost of Void-Shrouded Satchel (the bag that always contains Touch of the Void)?
2- I was about to grind the Returning Champion on my F2P account until I realized the final quest requires level 85. Can this be done on a trial character? I'm asking this because they have some random restrictions like not being able to enter instances etc.
3- Some of the guides I read mentioned the need to "bug" a profession in order to keep it's level after the subscription is over. I'm guessing this only applies to skill values higher than 300 (which I don't need) but just want to be sure.

Not entirely sure what you're referencing here but as a veteran account (thats what its called when your sub ends) your professions are bugged and you wont be able to craft anything over level 75, instead of 100 (which is what it should be). You can still use consumables and such (like the alchemist flask) but you just cant make them any more.

You wont lose your profession skill points and theyll return to 300 should you ever resub, but veteran professions are really buggy.

The bug was mentioned in the F2P vs VET differences thread https://xpoff.com/threads/f2p-vs-vet-differences.83474/, it got me confused and I wasn't sure if that was required to keep engineering helms equipped and use alchemy flasks after the subscription was over.

"professions - f2p: max=100 (+10 or +15 special) - vet: can keep the max=300 or more with bugs that got with gametime (archeology goes bug without gametime). Some recipes capped at 75-80-85=bug"

Yea, that thread is not well formatted.

You'll definitely be able to keep your helms and stuff.

Can I just say how damn refreshing it is to see a new member "asking questions about the research they've done", instead of "asking questions to avoid doing research"?

Kudos to you, Joe! ;)
