EU+US Partying on linked-F2P accounts

people just use subbed accounts to start the group and do invites, then they drop once they have 5 people or whatever youre going for. if 5 you just make it a party after it converts to raid..

or you can group with someone after an arena, by queueing for another one then leaving instance

If none of us are subbed, is there a way to group?

There's also the F2P-Addon (latest version here)... which has, among its various features, the ability to create groups.

The "catch", however, is that the addon is only able to if it detects a subbed-player online that's also using the addon... which is a pretty rare occurrence these days.

You could also try using its "Synchronized Queueing" feature, but there's always some luck required to actually end-up in the same instance-group.

(Nice to see ya' again... did your cool WoWhead guide ever get the "ratings" it needed?) :D

Rename one of your battle pets to Inviteparty, Partyplease, Sendpm or something, find subbed players in crowded areas, use /hi while targeting them and then /point at your pet. Or just hang around places like Goldshire or Northshire (humans starter area) and you'll eventually find low-level subscribed players who can read your chat messages and are willing to help.

Thank you!

And no... it hasn't yet. I did just update it though! Maybe one day!

That's a great idea. Thank you!

I regret to inform you that recent changes have it so high level toons cannot see our emotes. The animation still shows up but the text no longer does.

Getting a group will generally require one of you having a subbed account

Seven months later, and that wound still feels fresh... :(

(...and to think, I actually believed their "It's only temporary until we fix an exploit" bullshit.)

Just to be clear, that includes pointing at your pet? Really, Blizzard? :(

Can you tell me more about this supposed exploit they were supposedly fixing with this change?

All the emote text made by a f2p player (there are some exceptions with emotes made by toys) are not visible by others (even to other f2p players). This includes simple texts like "Brihan falls asleep. Zzzzzzzz." ....
Moreover nearly all the emote sounds can't be heared by others ... others can just see the animations, without sound or text ...

I tried multiple times to ask GMs about it and they never answered precisely on the exploit (because, you know, GMs are not there to share exploits that they want to fix, as it may lead to other similar exploits).
But according to them, it was an exploit enabling Started Editions to "bypass some of their restrictions".
And imo, it's surely that emotes could be used to communicate with other players with /point and other emotes. But it could also be used to spam and harass players ... and the restrictions on f2p communication are mainly to forbid the possibility of annoying subbed players ... so ... who knows

Very interesting. I'm almost certain that I heard Rhaellia laugh when we were playing the other night. We may have been grouped at the time though.

So the big game-breaking "exploit" that they needed to update their game to fix, was just to stop F2Ps from being able to communicate with anyone a any time. Nice, real useful.

I didn't say that. What I said was just my opinion after hearing some GM answers. They never precised what was the problem except that some emotes enabled starter accounts to "bypass some restrictions".

Just to be clear :p
