Classic Plus

Now that we're almost a month in, it's looking like Classic is successful enough that Blizzard really could move on to launching TBC Classic sometime after phase 6. They've made a tiny bit of noise about being open to the idea of doing something else, so I've been chatting with people in r/classicwowplus, which is a subreddit of people discussing ideas to suggest to Blizz for "Classic+".

A lot of the ideas are really bad, but there are also some good ones in there. Some people want just more raiding content, others want more leveling content. Some want TBC but no mounts, and no level 70. Some want nothing to do with TBC.

What do you guys think would be good? I have a few ideas I'm trying to compile, my goal is to post a suggestion in the Blizz forums that is realistic enough that they would actually consider doing some or all of it. LFM

I know it's not really what you're asking but the best bet is... leave it alone. There's no need for "classic+". People have been returning to "blizz like" private servers for over a decade. They wont stop returning to classic, so long as Blizz maintains the servers.

We need to wait for the TBC version for 2-3 years.

The reason I think there should be some years of time is because casuals should have time to play through and enjoy the vanilla experience and more hardcore players should have the time to level up multiple 60’s. Also, it allows people to enjoy vanilla endgame and PVP contents. It gives ample time for people to gear out their characters and enjoy them for awhile.

Then, release TBC just as it was released back in the day. All same shit. Include it for everybody and all characters. “WoW Classic” will become the same as TBC. Don’t brand it as “Classic+.” Have Classic be Classic; one unified group.

I can clearly see in next few years "Classic Trilogy" as Vanilla/TBC/WotLK. Most people also share idea its end of Warcraft RTS lore and all another (cata and beyond) is just mess.. I'll be happy for have it. And no matter what execution Blizzurd will choose. Get forced TBC and just let classic be progressive till wotlk... Forever Classic + new realms for fresh TBC / or transfer from Vanilla to TBC (same for wotlk) . I dont care what it will end up.
I just dont wanna Classic+. Ye, how cool must be original Kara, Dragon Isles, Azsahara battlefield, Emeral dream etc etc.. BUT thats hard to balance, same as a lot of money are needed for make it happend. Easiest, cheaper and also content what they already have (and its well recieved by players, sub count peak was wotlk ofc) and know how it make work with experience from making Classic (they already said that)

The best option I could see happening is this:

  • Classic [Vanilla WoW and nothing else].
  • Classic + TBC [allowing you to copy your Characters from Classic over and continue in TBC].
  • Classic + TBC + WotLK [allowing you to copy you Character from Classic/TBC over and continue in WotLK].

That's it, stop there and just maintain the 3 separate "Games" along with Retail for as long as Players are willing to pay the monthly Sub and play.

Not copy.. Transfer is better word imo.. Copy => original on 1.13 + copy on for example 2.4.4 (just guess it wont be 2.4.3,same case as with 1.12)
Continue with your char true TBC? Why not, but u will losse that char on realm where stay 60'

No I meant copy. There's a subreddit already explaining this. The concept is Blizz recreates all 3 as unique Games. You could keep your 60's on the Classic ONLY Server, copy those toons to the newly opened TBC Server and continue up to 70. Once a WotLK Server opened, you could copy either your 60's from the Classic Server or your 70's from the TBC Server and continue up to 80. 3 separate Games (plus Retail).

What I'd like to see is that if Classic shows a that it helps keep sub numbers that they take lessons learned and apply that to the 'Pristine' server idea they pitched some time ago.. ie a more vanilla/tbc style experience in the modern game.

I think modern WoW should end. They should make WoW 2 with a fresh story... New graphics with modern engine. They should make a total new game. New classes, new game play and new World are needed. Using the same story line again and again is getting awful. Will they bring Arthas back after BFA? WoW: Lich King returns again! Please God, No! and I believe pristine servers won't save this game.

We talked about Classic Server's future here many times. I totally agree with @Crystalpall . Community should vote for extra content. New dungeons, new raids, new areas, new classes, new bg's... TBC and Wotlk should be a new project.

What I always find interesting is how this game continues to cater to the consumption of content. They assume that's all people want, that they will consume then get bored and leave. If your life revolves around killing a new dragon with new boss mechanics every couple weeks then I guess that's what's needed.

I play games to have fun, I build tinks to play objectives, I play the original MOHAA (18 year old game) to compete against people.

You can't really compare an FPS to an MMORPG

Classic remains classic. Add classic themed content like OSRS with polls. Adding the new expansions will only divide the population and cause the entire project to die.

You think you want it, but you don't.

Hello kitty expansion incoming!

For twinking context, sure I can. Both can be capture the flag or other objective, killing people or surviving to do so. The only difference is the MMORPG trappings to get geared.

But the topic isn't about twinking, it's about Classic+ and the future of Classic. Also, FPS and Moba games have a lot more replayability and don't require that much new content. MMOs generally do, because they are based on a task-reward gameplay. The only difference is PvP, but that's just a part of WoW, not the whole thing.

Why can't twinking be part of Classic's success?
