You have to go to carrying classes and pass certain tests to be able to carry, or a military background, but what the fuck do I know. I feel comfortable carrying, and people who are trained properly will feel safe too. I could totally see why you would assume it would be a shit show, but that seems like a ridiculous exaggeration to me. Maybe give it a whirl and go apply for your concealed carry so you understand all that you have to do to obtain one.

This topic hasn't shown up in a few years. I leaned more towards stricter regulations back then, but I now know what a complete waste of time that would be only because of the unique state that our country is in. Not only does the underground in the United States provide illegal goods including firearms, but so do our neighbors to the South. Comparing us to Australia doesn't work because of this. Easier to regulate an island Nation.
I'd also like to address the comparison between the US and the UK violent crime rates. Of course you get higher rates in a larger country with more people. Jesus Christ, it's sad that I even have to point that out. People in the UK and their ridiculously misguided sense of superiority......are you fuckers even allowed to masturbate anymore? How's that UN migration pact treating you? Enjoy your no-go zones and rape gangs. How's that yellow vest movement coming along without firearms? Oh it failed? Interesting that isn't it? Perhaps that's all just propaganda though? People in France chanting "we want Trump"? No, that definitely happened.
As far as the argument of how bad living conditions are in the US, it depends on the city you live in. For example, here in Reno NV there was a massive influx of people moving here due to a Tesla gigafactory opening up. As a result of so many people fleeing California because the cost of living is too damned high, we have hardly any housing available and the prices of renting a place have more than tripled in less than a decade. The amount of homeless people that aren't even unemployed is staggering and the mentally ill/permanently deralict people are even more. We used to have a pretty nice Riverwalk. It's for the homeless now though. We used to be able to drive anywhere in town in less than ten minutes, but it would seem that Californians brought their horrible traffic with them. "Go back to California" is what our locals say. You can cite statistics all you want, but the absolute state of California is impacting the rest of the country in a very negative manner and these Californians seem dead set on changing other states to be like the one they ran away from.
I don't want to type too much of a wall so I'll just end my post saying that I completely agree that polarization and isolation are the real cause for concern here and not the guns themselves.
Also, nobody has formed any rebuttal to what allybeboba said and he's absolutely correct in his statements. Prove me wrong.

Ironically, in Texas, you don't even need a chl to carry a long gun. You can just walk around with it.
And, since you've admitted you don't really keep up with this stuff, you probably don't know that studies have been done on armed civilians in public shootings. They cause way more harm than they prevent.
I'm all for owning guns but I do ask that my fellow gun owners not embarrass me by being this wrong about stuff.
