I am farming this and am wondering if you mailed your 19 rogues boxes to a higher rogue to unlock and sent back, or unlocked via consumables or trade window on the 19. Specifically in the instance where you looted the assassin blade.
Its some real manual labor unlocking boxes 1 by 1 via trade but that’s what I’m doing for now till I know more

unlock on high lvl, open on low lvl is the tech afaik

So it should be safe to actually trade / mail them and mass unlock you’re saying? Sorry just making sure. I’d check the twitch op linked but it seemed to be inactive when I tried. The vod of it isn’t there anymore which I had watched around when he posted it

I mass unlock them on my 101 rogue, then just send them over to my lvl 19, easy peasy :) and open them on my lvl 19 ofc, boxes stay unlocked through mail

Had a friend get evocator blade today 20 i26 from one he unlocked and mailed back (wowhead says unscaled is 20 i25) so it’s safe. Opening 500-600 boxes in like and hour :)

i opened 656 and got 2 green patterns thats it

so idk if this is known or not, but dont bother opening boxes on PTR in an attempt to test without farming. i got the same items 4 times in a row opening 250 (some shitty level 17 ring). same box each time. same stat weight. idk

Big brain edit:

So you could maybe open all of your boxes you farm on PTR first, and then if you get BVB, you can keep trying to proc epic, or test scaling i guess, then you go back to live ready to open your BVB

That's still 250 more "tests" than you would've gotten otherwise... but yeah, no "redo's". The question now becomes: "Would you get those same items if you then open them on retail?"!

yep i edited post i think it could be interesting. opening the boxes on live now expecting to get the same ring i got
[doublepost=1564435031,1564434565][/doublepost]Okay opened them on live. each test on ptr and the final on live gave the same amount of green gems, and the same ring, always in the same CRATE. the amount of greys was MAYBE different, because my gems and ring sometimes ended up in dif spots in bags.

last "easy" thing to test will be to get a box with a ring in it, by testing boxes on PTR, then save that box for a large PTR patch or in game patch and see if the loot changes

Dude! We've now demonstrated that it's possible to "peek" inside the crates before opening them! How cool is that? Now we just need to figure-out if there's a way to "re-randomize" them... Mail? Delete/restore? Server transfer? Who knows?

Nice work! :D

I suppose that if a crate is pre-defined as "just something shitty", then there could still be a bit of randomness in that particular result.
