Concepts: Unique "Heritage Armor" for every race/class combo...

I noticed this artist mentioned by the MMO-bot and checked him out. His current project is attempting to apply the thematic "Heritage Armor" concept to every combination of race & class.

Some of the older ones are admittedly a bit goofy, but he stuck with it and they just keep getting better. The website explains his approach on many of them, and it's pretty clear that he's trying to build a portfolio that he can eventually pitch to Blizzard™.

I could totally picture a feature on XP-Off where new accounts are asked for the race & class of their main character, and it grabs the corresponding "Heritage Concept" as their default avatar. :D

I'm looking forward to seeing him complete the project! :)

(EDIT: His latest creation is a fully-developed Allied-Race implementation of his own design... definitely taking his skills to another level!)

I love this guy's work since the first i saw them. Every single set has a lot of thought behind, using past concepts or even other sets as inspiration.

I'll just put this Qiraj Set as a bonus to enrich the thread.

This sorta makes me wish Blizzard did something like Steam/dota workshop.

Granted its just artwork and not a model itself, nowadays there is so many talented,(and probably more passionate about the game than blizz itself) people out there that would no doubt do better job than blizzard does.

Guess 4 heritage armors a year it is.

Y'all might have heard of that shady site called Ownedcore.

Back in Wrath they had a somewhat active modding community for WoW. One of the most impressive things I ever say created was a staff called Outerend.

It was a huge Titan-like staff with a big floating planet in its top. Not only the planet would spin but its clouds would also move in different directions, there was also a version with a spherical galaxy around.

...it also likely ruined the FPS of anyone who viewed it! :p

(...still a damn-cool creation, though!)

That thing is honestly amazing for being 2010 , especially fan made , now imagine the technological leaps from AAA studio in 2019.

Like scrapping the unique class sets, so they can focus on more cool crazy shit
like...seaweed overgrown leather pirate outfit... or.. starshell across your face...or...3 recolors of a set ...or... 2 heritage armors a year..or..halfassed race reskins like nightborne

Yeah, the staff is almost ten years old by now. Look at the planet, it's so round I want to die! - but the concept is also really solid.

Guess the main problem with Blizzard Art Dept. is not really the concept but the execution. Specially with the amount of races and shapes, you see they putting in so many strange helmets and shoulders (most of Uldir and Eternal Palace sets suffer from this).

Best piece of work do you have the same for female versions as well?

His "Night Elf & Nightborne" armor is on females... but I certainly hope you weren't expecting the artist to draw an additional 200 portraits simply to have both genders included!

Anyway, since I'm here... I've gone ahead and updated the O.P. to include Mechagnomes & Vulperas, reformatted the ever-lengthening list to (hopefully) make things more organized, and added a link to his New Allied-Race pitch that you should seriously check-out if you've found any of this interesting (he's definitely come a long way)!
