PTR Interesting....

I'm assuming they tested it, but weren't on the PTR lmao or sometimes currently the person with their xp turned off has to turn on their xp gain, then turn it back off for the new buff to be applied to everyone else (Ofcourse going to be fixed when the patch comes out)

I assume so due to it sometimes not updating the buff whenever characters are transferred over to the PTR, so either the server is not force updating the buff whenever logged in (Since the xp off buff is permanent no matter what you do until you talk to the npc to turn it back on) Or possibly they are creating an entirely new spell ID for it and is not over writing the pre existing xp off buff

This news is only recent so they might just have a rough implementation of the buff and will force a buff re-write when 8.2 comes out when they have time to finish writing the final code for it

Your tireless campaigning and contribution to the death of twinking outside the level 20 bracket will be remembered.

remember when they said they wanted to prevent 110+ from eliminating xp but they scrapped that because it was an awful idea? asking because idk what made them think this was a good alternative (assuming this is the "different approach" they mentioned in their blue post)... whoever comes up with this shit needs to be fired

So I was on PTR to check out the new hidden armor transmog changes for my paladin.
I decided to go see if they fixed the queue bug. Decided to just test the macro and see if it still worked.
I then noticed this .....

The Experience Eliminated buff has a new description.

So what does this mean?
One thing is for sure. We definitely have drawn attention to blizz. They wouldn't just make the description change because they felt like it. With no correlation to any issues?

And what do they mean by "Vastly Reduced" ? Why does it not say "Experience Gains are Disabeled" Like the last description?
Could this mean the end of twinking? The end of EXP OFF
Could this mean all brackets are now merged again AND "twinks" are now just slower levelers??

And whats with the "Someone in your party has chosen to no longer gain exp"??
This one is the one I find more interesting. Because I'm convinced this has to do with the queue macro exploit.

Or even worse. Could this be an attempt by Blizzard to track down the exploiters?
What if this buff is placed on everyone in a BG to stir up riot and report the guy whos slowing their experience gain? They won't like it if someone in their group has queue bugged into a BG and now everyone else has to gain less EXP. So the next best thing to do is report the player. He should not be in the EXP on bracket to begin with.

Now what I find weird is this - They contradict themselves. Is the statement "Exp Vastly Reduced" Is that meant for the player or the people in their party?
BECAUSE if its meant for the player. Then the statement "Someone has chosen to NO LONGER GAIN EXPERIENCE" contradicts "vastly reduced".
"Vastly Reduced Experience" and "No longer gain experience" are two different things.

OORRRR am I over thinking this !?!?!?

Yes .. we definitely have drawn attention to blizz in the wrong way and we might see 20's gone to. So .. who wins now that we wanted attention ?

Even if this has to do with the 110s, because of the fuss around twinks I think we might see them "fixing" the veteran and ftp brackets and let them level to 21 slowly xD

they arent going to change the way starter accounts work. Though they may change the way vets work in the near future, likely through banked xp.

@Chaosity can you retest the random que on the ptr and get some screenies of the buff/aura on others? Im interested in what the text says and if it really does affect /instance and not just /party

honestly the BG bug is an easy fix, they're probably just punishing the ones who were abusing the bug by punishing everyone, attempting to make an example out of us. all they had to do was put a server check to see if a player has a buff, and if he has the exp eliminated buff then remove from instance. it really isn't hard, they're just lazy and want to focus on the aspect of the game that is causing their failure.

One question I have about all this is assuming they implement this decreased XP gain aura, if you as the XP off toon took off your "Twink" gear, how would levelers know it was you giving them the debuff?

I think it would be easy enough to slap on some heirlooms, make sure you're missing ring slots, and you would look like any other leveler, and therefore making it very difficult to determine who to kick.

Agree that something had to be done to balance things, but separation and segregation was never the answer.
Unfortunately blizzard don’t seem to have the brains/motivation to bring in a more creative solution that works for their substantial twinking community.

We all know blizzard hates twinks, despite the XP OFF NPC they implemented with the corny comments it auto spews out like, "Slahtz bemoans the loss of his Nethercleft Leg Armor."
Blizzard is a company with the title, "No Fun Zone".
