Congrats! Nice Versatility rolls!

thanks <3

This Foamspittle grind is driving me crazy! Whatever little bursts of motivation I can summon up for it constantly gets demolished by hordes of multi-box farmers with War More both on and off.

Literally the last world quest I had left for useful gear with upgrade potential, I almost didn't do it because I already had an epic wand and offhand, but I woke up today and decided to do it since the staff has versatility it could be useful even without an upgrade. The RNG Gods have smiled on me...

Nice haul, but Foamspittle still beats any other caster weapon combination :p

No it doesnt. It beats a staff of the sun but epic mh and if possible oh beats foam atleast at 20. Not sure about 29s, because who cares about 29s.

IIRC, at 19, the most verse on a mainhand/offhand is 4. It might be 5, but I can't actually find any that give 5 right now. So an epic mainhand/offhand with verse will have the same int, the same stam, and 8 verse instead of foamspittle's 16 verse. You can get the offhand enchant for +4 int - but thats a pretty even trade for 8 verse.

At 20, I think the 4int scales to 6int to offhand in BGs - so theres definitely more of an argument there that the ideal epic rolls can beat it, but actually getting those is a lot more difficult than farming foamspittle - and rerolls will generally focus on the OP chest piece for each armor type.

Also there might also be new 1h/offhand items at 20 that have more verse as well that I'm just not familiar with.

EDIT: Data. I'm assuming int/stam are the same at every given ilvl since I don't trust wowhead, but there might be small int/stam differences as well.

19: https://www.wowhead.com/item=65722/liliths-wand + https://www.wowhead.com/item=1172/graysons-torch = 8 verse. Puts foamspittle 8verse ahead and 4 int behind due to offhand enchant
20: https://www.wowhead.com/item=60911/archivists-lighter + https://www.wowhead.com/item=1172/graysons-torch = 9 verse. Puts foamspittle 7 verse ahead and 6 int behind due to offhand enchant. Worth the trade, but the chances of getting both epics are absurdly low and you'd be better off rerolling for chest.
29: https://www.wowhead.com/item=60911/archivists-lighter + https://www.wowhead.com/item=1172/graysons-torch = 11 verse. Puts foamspittle 10 verse ahead and 6 int behind.

Best MH OH at 29 is a total of 52 int, 16 stam, and 11 vers, including enchant.

Foamspittle at 29 is 49 int, 16 stam, 21 vers.

10 vers > 3 int.

When scaling gets involved, as with being 20 in the 20-29s bracket, then intellect beats out secondaries by a greater margin, certainly. But if you're the max level for the bracket, and there isn't any scaling involved, pretty sure foam is top dog.

You're not accounting for offhand enchant.

10 vers > 3 int
That actually brings up a question I've been wondering about... What's the comparison between points in a main stat and points in a secondary stat like vers? Is there a chart or something that says x points in intel is about equal to y points vers? If that makes sense...

Ye the only ones that go above 5 arent verse. Yes at 20 offhand enchant scales to 6 int.

Nah stonetalon is pretty dry for caster weapons. Not saying its not a hassle and that rolling over for other stuff is worth more; Just that its better than foam on a vet.

Some people have their own calculations, but theres really nothing consistent and accurate. Especially for crit/haste. Verse is a straight damage increase, so its easier to compare to how much damage you get from your primary int/agi/str stat - but it doesn't include the value from damage reduction.

Simple napkin math of switching items around and looking at tooltips usually puts 1 primary equal to 2-3 verse at 19 by looking at tooltips - but each skill is going to have a different ratio (some spells will have 0,2*int and others will have 0.5*int) - so its very rough. That method also doesn't include the way verse increases elemental force, which is affected by verse, but not primary stat. Note that hidden satyr does scale with primary stat and verse, so that won't come into play.
