As unlikely as it is that many will not
Come back to their old accounts after 10 years- it doesn’t justify giving their account away as a “quick fix”. Can you just edit when peoples accounts were made and give them the badges they had? @Conq

Seems like a better idea for someone to save down all the important threads and use the old save. Even if it takes a week to save shit down. People may want their PMs etc.

Restore the deleted accounts from the backup. If it's hard to do or time-consuming, then its to bad for you. It won't be more time-consuming than a month of posts. You made this kind of mess yourselves.

The pathetic part is he doesn't know how to fix or navigate any of that

Hence the, "Waiting to hear back from the techies" in OP

Guys put 0 effort into being anything more than a glorified wallet and a lazy "organizer" who puts his name on projects of the people with actual passion and drive.

I have probably 5 extra accounts in that DB that I dont remember the info for and I know there are others just like me.

Sounds like stuff is still being worked out, but if the solution ends up being restoring from backup, then a few days would definitely be appreciated to make sure the latest updates to my stuff are backed up.

Alternatively if the restoration happens, possibly hosting the "current" data under something like temp.xpoff.com and leaving it up for a month (while the backup gets restored to the actual site) might be a good way to allow people to move things over.

And I'm sure everyone knows its a good idea to make another backup of the site now before any big changes are made, but I'll throw it out there anyways because its better safe than sorry.

Should probably have people deal with the server/programming who actually are active and can prioritize this website, then.

If you don't have one of your admins have the programming knowhow who is regularly on the website, you are kind of shooting yourself in the foot.

Did i miss a thread? Why are accounts being deleted? Is @Conq banning people that don't support Anarchism?
You totally missed out on this whole thing.

Not super active on here, never have been. Don’t have a dog in this fight either, but I have fond memories of this site.

The drama has always been around and for the most part entertaining, “The Truth about 19’s” thread comes to mind...

I don’t really know @Conq very well, think we may have spoken once or twice in game yrs ago.

I guess if people are looking for suggestions to help going forward, here’s mine.

Based off how they do things at another forum I frequent.

Create a sub forum basement. For all the trolls, bitching, moaning and other verbal vomit one needs to get off their chest.

Make it un-viewable to non members, and post count restricted. Have a set line that you don’t cross even there and if anyone gets out of line up stairs, ban accordingly.

Just my thoughts, best of luck!

Technically, it's possible to recover some information after an account has been hard deleted through SQL queries, e.g creating new accounts, assigning a new user id and posts to that username, rebuilding caches, etc. However, the only way to recover everything would be to use a backup. Hence why hard deleting is strongly advised against. Conq was made aware of the repercussions prior to his actions, which is why I don't support using a backup from a month ago. Doing so is not fair to users that took part in discourse and to new users that registered during this time.

@Syrue is attempting to restore the three deleted accounts from an old backup currently. No promises on it's success.
