Upcoming Ele Force nerf opinions?

I’m personally kinda excited for the change that this is going to bring, going to change the viability of a lot of classes and the way 19 is played, just wanted to hear some other people’s opinions on the subject.

ppl posted on other threads that enchants like landslide or mongoose may become options again , need more dataz though to compare with nerfed ele force total damage in a bg that lasts more than 5 minutes for example

It is not elemental force specific nerf. it is an overall reduction to top tier weapon enchants bar crusader.
Those 2 are not comparable since they fulfill different roles.
Elemental force still king. Deal with it.

In short...we'll see.

Ele force is still 30dmg at 10 RPPM. So it went from fucking OP to just good. Landslide and dancing steel might see some play, but this is much more likely at the 29/39/49 brackets where a slow MH weapon is available to take advantage of landslide's PPM.

Healers might consider switching to +9SP instead. Coastal surge also got a nerf, but an extra hot is still nice even if the numbers aren't as big.

Incendiary ammo, frost ammo, flintlockes, and gnomish xray all got nerfed. So hunters may need to reevaluate scope options. Incendiary ammo is still an option. Khorium Diamond-cut refractor scope +4 damage might be worth using (+4 weapon damage - equiv to using a lvl 27 heirloom in terms of weapon damage i think). Gale force striking is also an option, especially for marksman (reduces cast time of aimed shot/steady shot) and you can use it on ANY weapon, so ilvl 25 BG crate, invasion weapons, or the newly available ilvl 25 weapons from quests.

Dual wield survival may be hurting and no longer be viable, as their damage was primarily ele force. Shame, as it is truly a unique and interesting non-intended way to play. Survival and feral may also want to consider the 10? agi weapon enchant on a 2h.

Basically the ele force nerf hits almost everyone hard. Healers are less affected since their healing will stay the same or get better after a switch. Ret and warriors still have crusader at full force, so they become much more powerful in comparison, even though no changes are present. At 19, they are still working without a full toolkit though and will still be reliant on external slows and pocket healing. They might be preferred more since damage output will be hard to come by. This will fuck up 29/39/49 brackets where warriors are already dominant.

I'm a bit concerned about the power of healers, as lots of damage is getting nerfed, with little happening to nerf healers. There are many opinions of how strong healers should be compared to other players (how many players should a healer be able to heal through, and for how long), so we'll see where this puts them.

I still think that d's eke force hunter will be around. It is still the best option for range smh for the spec. You will have to weapon swap to 2h while in melee likely to keep relevant dmg. The overall power of the spec will go down and might not be as viable but I still think optimal play for surv will include duel wielding ele force some of the time.

This is the real tragedy. I felt like this was on par with old-school spellhance shaman in terms of just "neatness". Was a cool play style.

agreed , unique gameplay, felt like arcane warrior spec from dragon age : origins equipped with 2 'specific' leggo swords and armor

Khorium is currently hitting for less than diamond refractor even tho it displays +11 vs +10 at 59. Just an FYI.

edit- both say +4 at 19, I believe, but diamond does hit harder then khorium.
Thanks for the heads up I will try this when I get home today.

I don't have a 19 hunter to test it on the PTR, so I had to use a 23 (now 24 from shooting stuff) to test the low level damage range. With no scope aimed shot hit for around 310 or so, ~355 with khorium, and ~365 with diamond. Rough estimates, but noticeable between the two scopes. Arcane shots went up from ~105 no scope to ~125 with diamond.

I posted more on it in another 8.1.5 thread around here somewhere. IMO +damage is looking viable vs. incendiary.

Best change that could ever happen, nuff said.

See, that’s how I feel, I like changes, it keeps things interesting in the bracket, it affects my rogue a bit but not my holy pally. Going to cause a lot of people to do more than just face roll a keyboard

Makes you wonder why they haven't done it until now... and if it's because it's "difficult" to fix and occupies a lot of resources, then it truly should have been put off even longer, BfA is a mess. Way more important stuff to worry about.

But if it's just because they didn't know or didn't care, well that speaks for itself. Either way, Blizz proves terrible again.

Just depends on your preference which way is worse... typical Blizz, bad or badder. Only options.

BUT -----> hell yeah it's about time these changes got done.

I honestly doubt they are intentionally doing this to balance things. I think that some scaling thing was tweaked that happened to change a bunch of enchants and the lower level quest reward ilvls. Maybe they heard that ele force was super powerful at low levels and wasn't scaling down and they fixed a scaling bug because of it, but I doubt they care too much as there are many oddities that don't scale "properly". Its mostly if it gets big enough and complained about enough. See ilvl 180 gear on 19s, 340 gear on 110s, frag belt, etc. Its just trimming the extremely excessive stuff.

How much of a boost do you think these changes will give to the 'sader using classes? Warrior/ret are going to be essentially untouched if 'sader does not also get nerfed.
