avalanche weapon enchant for a caster?

can someone test the numbers that avalanche weapon enchant puts out for a caster? i'd like to see what it would do on a dot caster at this level. Just curious. boomie/lock/shadow priest?
 
ok, thanks @Geekz . Ive seen from the armory that some have ele force and some have the 18 spell power. Must be pretty close between those 2 to have so many toons that have either one or the other

It's not that one is "better" than the other, its just a different approach/playstyle.

I have weapons with ele force, coastal surge and +spellpower and tend to swap them out depending on how Im feeling that day or what the situation may call for. You really cant go wrong with any of them.

When you comparing elemental force to anything else you have to understand one thing.
You trading something that will 100% proc for something that MAY proc.
 
Avalanche currently hits for ~2/3 of the damage of an ele force proc.

It has ~5PPM vs ele force's 10 RPPM. Its really hard to compare PPM w/ RPPM since PPM directly depends on the number of attacks where RPPM is event independent. Perhaps avalanche could be better for boomkin/affliction if you have 2 dots on 5+ people, simply because ALL of those can proc avalanche, while any dot tick resets the proc rate on ele force.

Both are currently slated for nerfs though in 8.1.5 according to the PTR. Based on the current PTR, I imagine 9SP will be a popular option. Ele force still procs a ton and is going from "fucking OP" to just "good". Coastal surge is also getting nerfed, but an additional HoT is pretty nifty for a number of healers.

Restro druid (especially FC) would like it. Pally gets a hot, which is in short supply. Dunno if it can proc on disc bubble, but bubble + hot would still be good. MW and resto shaman I think would definitely prefer +9SP, but we'll see how it shakes out.

Personally I think 18sp is better in almost every situation with the exception of affliction warlock.

And regarding coastal surge, in my experience, the HoT is usually wasted healing. On average it overhealed 60-70% of its healing for me. I’d only advocate its use for FCing, or as an offhand enchant for melee classes that want a bit more sustain (vers stacked fury with offhand coastal is silly amounts of self healing)
