Updated guide on "BiS timewalking gear"?

Hi all. I currently have a hunter at 119 and would like to gear him up through the next timewalking event.

Are just socket gear generally better overall over the WoD+ tier set bonuses? Also may I ask how the scaling works? Let's say if it's Wrath timewalking, Cata + later expansion gear won't be as strong? The only legendary besides Legion ones he has is the MoP cape.

I totally get BiS timewalking gear isn't necessary but I'm sure it'll speed up the grinding a tad bit.

Thanks!

Edit: Ok I seem to have missed what you were saying initially. For Timewalking yes, older gear is very valuable, it most definitely speeds things up, especially if you have a full group of well prepared and geared players.

The 295-300 Azerite trait gear being the Helm, Shoulders, and Chest are generally better than any other pieces you can get for their slot.

The MOP cloak, and two Legion epics would in most cases be BIS.

The other gear you can get from Mythic HFC and Siege of Orgrimmar are the likely the best places to farm.

And yes, the tier of the TW event does matter, so if you have 100 IL gear from Wrath and wear that into the MOP event it won't be as strong as other options from say MOP or WOD.

The more sockets, when socketed, the better because they provide that extra bit of damage that the normal gear in comparison doesn't have.

Awesome! Thank you Petrolsk. Sorry if I worded that wrong.

So it's good to have a few different sets of gear then.

What I am going for is mop and legion legendary's and the last epic ring from the legendary in WoD with a 2 piece tier set from legion, I find it works the best overall and you don't need to get a ton of gear for each xpack timewalking.

MoP Cloak, MoP Meta gem, Legendary wep, epic ring before legendary ring, ashens band, best trinkets for ur class, 2 LEgion legendaries, and then either gear with gem slots or Legion 4 pc set that iwill icnrease the dmg u do
