Which brackets don't suffer from grandfathered gear?

Most grandfathered gear doesn’t have that huge of an impact as they get replaced as better/different stat choices gear depending on the patch. What BiS today might not be BiS next patch. It is the accumulation of stats that have the real impact. That is why enchants/gems have such a huge impact. And by and large most people don’t min/max their lowbie characters at all, very few so called Twinks do this. They don’t maximize both primary professions and use consumables. As a healer, I can gain spell power from three different sources just by using alchemy, wizard oil and food. Just from those three sources my spell power can increase up to 15%. Many don’t even bother with that.

TDLR; it’s not a few stats off a grandfathered piece or two that add to your stats. It’s the accumulation of stats from several sources. It’s this way at end game too.

/cheers

It’s more or less enchants

Ahh ok, makes sense as to why I haven't noticed any then, I'm generally not paying that close of attention to enchants when I'm inspecting/looking up other twinks. I can't imagine a GF'd enchant or two making that huge of a difference anyway.

At 119, the other bracket I twink in, GF'd gear is very much a thing. Well it's the gear from the anniversary event, not sure if something gotten a month and a half ago is considered "grandfathered" lol but since it's unobtainable now I suppose it is. That 333/343 gear that dropped from the anniversary event world bosses is a substantial upgrade from the usual 300/310 gear that is BiS otherwise.

So since I play rogue a lot that’s the easiest one for me to explain the grandfathered disparage. So for example, at the moment a perfectly grandfathered rogue which I have seen only 1 of like this with some coming close missing 1 or the other enchant.
Currently with no helm chant the 14 ap and crit to helm is not obtainable
Current max on gloves is 13 agility grandfathered being 17
Current max on boots is 8 with the grandfathered being 16
Cloak enchant being 8 agility grandfathered being 16
Leg enchant with 6 ap grandfathered being 12 agility and 9 crit
Bracer enchant is currently 9 agility with the grandfathered fur lining enchant being 24 attack power.
Ring enchants currently not agility ones ( used to be 9 attack power scaled in legion unless it’s been removed entirely in bfa since I haven’t seen since then is grandfathered. With I’m sure more i haven’t seen someone with etc and not counting out people that may have others.
Is roughly 74 attack power more than a new non grandfathered twink rogue which is huge
But again ( probibly only a handful with that exactly stuff on bis gear with only 1 that I know of that doesn’t really play anymore ). This is also only agility/ ap enchants too. Rant over lol

There isnt a single bracket where you cant reroll something today and be successful in.

GF'd, BIS, majority BIS, doesn't matter TBH

It'll be back every year tho…. not exactly "grandfathered" just delayed.

I just learned that some twinks, now, have gear which isn't obtainable any longer. Are there any brackets where this isn't the case? I imagine 119 is that say, but what about others?

Looks like most of conversation has been played out, however I'll add that 119 has semi-grandfathered gear from the anniversary event. It will likely come again next year, but its unobtainable for a good amount of time. The higher up you go, the rarer the GFd twinks are though. But also the higher you go, the less impactful that gear tends to be. Northrend engineering and emil's brand are big at 19. I'm sure there are some similar things in 29.

I think the biggest advantage is the 10-19 warriors who have:

:D

I'll note that those are really rare to actually see used since its super easy to tell if they are used and blizzard will remove them and ban if reported.

Doesn't make a notable difference. And if we're talking low level brackets they're all bfa rerolled Druids anyway...

if you are having a number of gf gears on (not just 1 or 2 pcs) then you can see a big gap in the 10-19 bracket .. at the end of the game, you will find those with gf gears doing at least 2-3 times those who didnt have them .. if an average player with average gear does total 10k dmg, then the max twinks are doing at least 30k dmg .. if you compare it that way, then a gf gear out twink clearly is super OP, there is no doubt about it .. but will this twink alone help win the game for his team ? sometimes yes, depending on how bad the opposite team is, sometimes no, because when there are a few average geared players targeting this twink he will be less efficient .. when i say average geared players it means players have decent (not great) gears .. but in a 10-19 bracket .. some players dont even have their BOA on and they have a few empty slots (no rings no trinkets and sometimes missing a few pieces of armor) i see it so often, and i am really pissed as max geared 19 (and i dont play 19 anymore becoz of this), because i know these players just nullified the team's advantage .. if you have 3 players in your team who are this badly geared .. you are doing a 7v10 game .. the outcome will be amplified when they have a max out gf twink .. many of you said gf doesnt make much diff .. in certain situation it makes a big diff .. actually in most situation it makes a big diff .. becoz max out twink takes down these kind of lousy enemy players every 2 seconds, before you know it half the enemy's team is gone .. gf twinks are definitely a valuable asset .. i think your question should have been "in which bracket do you find most badly geared players" rather than if gf gears matters .. lvl10-19 has most of the time most number of badly geared players

If you're an average "twink" doing 1/3 less damage than the same class with 1-2 grandfathered items the problem is you.

Assuming it's not some of the ridiculous outliers mentioned here... you're not doing that much less, or it's YOU.

edit- saying, you're not going to triple your damage with 6 more agility you cant get anymore.
