US 79 LFM farming dungeon gear

If you're gearing a char that has a healing spec, then you can solo the Epoch Hunter. So you get a high level to clear to him, then they log off and you solo him. When you solo, you loot 2 items off him. Legacy loot is still in effect, but it's basically a 1/10 chance to get the item you want every 20 minutes.

I don't think he's soloable on non-healer specs (unless someone manages to kite him around the buildings), and non-purge classes suffer due to his dispel aura. I've managed to solo him reliably on shaman, monk and paladin, with the shaman being easiest (purge), pala being so-so, and monk being trickiest but still very doable. I imagine a priest will be easy, and a druid will be hard, but haven't tried either of those.

If you're not gearing a healing spec char, my condolences and best of luck with the drops :).

I would say a good third of the bosses dropping the 79 BiS gear, are soloable as a healer in enchanted heirloom gear. The only boss I've soloed as a non-healer is Blood Furnace last boss, and that was as a ret paladin - he has very low hp and dmg output if you can dispel yourself at start.

a faster way may be to find 2 or 3 other players of your same lvl, and 1 much much higher lvl to run as a group .. the other 2 or 3 who are same lvl as you should be a different class eg. you are plate, then the other 2 or 3 should be cloth leather and mail .. this way anything drop can be traded, as for that high lvl one, he should one shot everything and all of you do not have to fight at all, the amount of time saved would be a lot, that is what i do most of the time if i am running this dungeon, i think you need to use a mage as a lead because if you use this method, after the end of the dungeon you cannot leave instance .. you need a mage to port to dalaran and then get back in again using portal to cavern of time

Been wondering how many semi twinks it would take to efficiently farm the Hunter compared to 12 minute runs with a high level who wastes a roll. We've got three gearing up currently, and my suspicion is that it wouldn't be worth the extra clear time. Maybe with four.

Holy cow those Escape From Durnholde runs are long and boring.

Anyone else farming this right now? If I can find a healer or tank to speed up the queue times that'd be great. Or we could trade runs on our max levels.

I'm typically on from 9pm-12am central time weekdays.

Hit me up if interested.

Yeah, it's a snoozer run. I've been running it for three weeks along with Blood Furnace to get gems, and I have a good couple of months to go. Request sent.

The most efficient way is with a high level, no way around it. You can however not waste a roll on him. You probably know there are 3 add waves just before last boss, after you speak with Taretha and the Epoch hunter does his roleplay. Have the high lvl kill these 3 waves while all twinks stay reasonably far, like in the orchard where the 2nd wave spawns. Once the 3rd wave is dead, the high level runs behind a house and initiates logout. During that time everyone stays away from the boss to avoid aggro. He'll just attack Thrall who can handle himself for a while. Once the high lvl is offline, go for boss - this wastes no roll since the high level was never on the boss aggro table. I dual-box 2 accounts and do this all the time. Watch for the hard-hitting DoT he places on non-tanks - that's what prevents him from being soloable by pet classes.

Congrats! I whipped up a quick video since it's always helpful to see how it's done. Most of it is sped up, but shows you where the 79 char is parked and what the high lvl booster should do. The actual fight isn't that interesting.

The char in the video is a disc priest with only enchanted heirlooms and random off pieces. Haven't started twinking her yet.

Eh just wait till you have a bit of bad luck while farming banner =P. It's fast but after 57 runs "speed" kinda flies out the window.

Dude I'm in the exact same place for my shaman. I sort of gave up for now even. Never had so much trouble for banner, almost wondering if I should change specs or something (my ele buddy got it in a few tries), I know that's all just superstition though...

I don't think the banner is that great for enh shamans. Dmg-oriented trinkets I would use are Dragonspine Trophy, Abacus of Violent Odds, Vestige of Haldor, and if you want a bit of stamina I would replace one of those with the Engi stam+ap trinket. I'm of the opinion that chaining SSs more often is way more beneficial than the occasional 6k+ SS you can get by stacking AP trinkets - hence my preference for haste as a stat.

Just my 2 cents, though, if you like how your enh shaman plays that's all that matters :).

Some fair points, one thing I'll say is that the Vestige seems to be shit for enhance. As far as I can tell it will only proc off of white hits. My warrior gets probably 5x as many procs, so I'm done using it on the shaman. I like the Banner for it's short ICD and max ap buff, but I do want the Abacus just as much partially for the static agi, but also I've never minded on-use trinkets and the only drawback is it's 2 min cd. I've even been wondering lately if rocking the Abyssal Rune would be worth it, my assumption is it's still going to apply all the spellpower to my elemental damage and heals too, seems crazy though.

SP trinkets do nothing for enhance, your only source of "spellpower" is attack power.

I personally don't use the vestige because I like DST best as a dps trinket, and want the extra stamina from the engi trinket. I've seen people swear by it though, so that's why I suggested it.
