EU+US Absolutely absurd predictions that I think might actually happen

Silver lining moment (ANOTHER ABSURD PREDICTION THAT I THINK WILL ACTUALLY HAPPEN!)

If the game keeps bleeding subs, eventually it will get small enough that it ends up getting sidelined in favor of games with a larger draw (IE Overwatch). Blizzard will shift it over to developers with a mandate to build towards community rather than sub numbers because they'll recognize that the games run its course. So we'll get a game that appeals to players that enjoy that SPECIFIC game rather than gamers looking to play the next big thing in order to boost their twitch numbers.

Yep. I think they've already come to that point, at least since WoD with Ashran, pruning, and RNG BiS trinkets. But WoD still had overall PvP gearing right. With Legion's bad PvP design it seems they're trying to drive the majority of decent/above avg. players out. So far they've done a good job of that.

There's no way that this is just coincidence or "woops we fucked up again", or "jesus Blizz doesn't know wtf they're doing. Do they even PvP?". Not when they have 12 years of experience with WoW and all of the data on players that they must have.

Meh. I'm out of tinfoil.

Cute try to hand wave, but it doesn't take tinfoil. Just a bit of common sense and ability to see what is fairly obvious.

If you think Blizz or (any large corporation) is going to openly admit to this, then you must be quite naive.

Calm your moobs. I just got tired of of trying to think of ways Actiblizz might possibly maybe perhaps could be screwing us to make money and that's how I chose to state it. Out of tinfoil.

yea pretty much

nice grave digging

edit:

What I think could happen if Blizzards decides "fuck all":

-they will release all main abilities besides talents for level 1s, and remove the lvl 10 requirement to change spec.

-they will merge all brackets together (this is a YUGE shot in the dark)

-they will remove apprentice riding or push it to lvl 1 and have journeyman riding available at 20.

-all gear drops and item drops may warforge (doubt it though)

Irrelevant changes that wont effect f2p:

-To fix the need to stat crunch every other expansion, they should implement scaling tech that will allow the stats to stay the same but to change effectiveness (%) based on the ilvl and lvl requirement. So if you're wearing Legion gear, the stats will decrease depending on how much higher you are from the lvl requirement. But an item with the same stats at the new level cap (let's say 120) would have 100% if it's base stats.

For example:

RIP none of mine have come to fruition.

Lets see

1. Much like Broken Isles is now, Blizzard will eventually make old world content (IE Vanilla) scale with level in an effort to reinvigorate interest in that content and offer a speedy leveling alternative to random dungeon spam.
Hell yea

2. Recognizing the power of micro transactions in their other games, Blizzard will open the in game store to trial accounts.
Well, its not open "in game" but I can totally buy pets and shit via the BNet client

3. Transmog looks will be no longer limited by level.
Getting closer. In 8.1 alot of rep and level requirements are being removed, but not all.

4. and one that really only affects a few of us... fury warriors will eventually abandon titans grip.
A dwarf can wish

I got 1 full on, 2 about half way and one totally wrong. Not shabby.

Wait, whats going on on 8.1 for xmogs??

I forget if it was official patch notes or a blue post, but they mentioned that a lot of reputation requirements to xmog items will disappear and that they were adjusting/removing some level requirements.

This will very likely not really affect pure F2P much because we still have to be able to equip items to get the xmog. But I imagine it could impact some higher level looks that, say, have a vanilla and bc source but still required level 58 to use (something I ran into getting mogs for my 39s)

I'm just hyped for the (or so I heard) possible announcement of vanilla realms (Oldschool runescape alike) at blizzcon. I know it probably won't happen but if it would and it would have a trial edition as well... damn. Only thing that would bother me is lack of draenei :(

Hey past me was right! Now let’s hope for that trial thing.

Let's not forget, Blizzard isn't just Blizzard, and hasn't been for a long time.
Its activision-blizzard, and activision has been as bad as EA. And there's
something about being voted "worst company in America" for years
that just "sticks" in my mind. Unfortunately as of late, Blizzard's name
has been dragged to the pits.

As someone who grew up in internet cafe's in my teenage years (I'm 31 now)
and in the very early rise of WoW, I saw a craze like no other. It was devastating.
Everyone and their grandma wanted or went to net cafe's to play WoW, because
PC's were expensive and internet unreliable, so it wasn't worth it, it was cheaper
to pay to play in net cafe's, even if getting a WoW account at that point was very hard.
Net cafe was literally "renting" accounts, because nobody had one.

That was the vanilla I remember. The madness that took the world by storm.

And you know what Blizzard did after they made all the money in the world?
When Burning Crusade came out, they made all gear so far, obsolete.
And that's all they had, the acquiring of gear. That was their main hook.
And you know what vanilla players felt when years of their life were
replaced with "new content"? Betrayal. And most stopped playing.

And vanilla was the pits, the hardest grind ever, as hard as old school runescape.
Here are my two chars on runescape, played for literally decades, both old school
and new old school.

WoW made the same mistake Jagex did. They tried to cater to new audiences
and reshaped WoW into something old players didn't recognize or care for.
I quit runescape after 15 years playing, because Jagex had no shame,
ruined their franchise with a shittier version of the old runescape
because they wanted to make another "WoW-clone" for the kids.

And WoW has never captured the same crazed fanbase ever since.

No, I'm not surprised if Blizzard started selling real life kittens through their
in-game store now. Or baked beans. They might as well at this point.

My two cents.

F2P is one mistake Blizzard did right, unintentionally.
Those limitations remind me of vanilla, in a good way.
Its the only real content I'm willing to play.

Btw chops, do you play on EU?

I'd like to bring Enti's into this for unintentional mistakes that were great.

You never played Everquest, Ultima Online, or any Korean MMOs, did you? :p

Kudos for everquest, I heard stories of that mmo, never played it.
But maybe you never played runescape either :p
