US 39 Recruitment Video

Watched this a few months back along with Brumbles 39 rog vids. Many good memories <33

Update: I remembered I have outplayedqt on instagram.. let's see if I can rope him back into nerdcraft as well

My favorite parts were the dueling outside of Ironforge and the "dedicated fcs". My 39 paladin started as a dedicated FC!

So I got to thinking...

The bracket could use an updated recruitment video and I'm happy to do that, but it's gonna take a bit of a bracket wide effort.

When boostz cut those videos, what we did was que up premades, and boostz just ran around in stealth while someone on the other team afkd on the stump, so it was 9v9.

Same with the arenas. They qued 5v5 for 3s and 3v3 for 2s and boostz just ran around in stealth

I imagine wargames makes both of these a little easier than it was way back when, and there's a chance spectator mode still works for arenas

If some of y'all wanted to spend a weekend figuring it out and running some matches for footage, I'd be happy to cut and edit it into a video like the above. I'm no Boostz, but I think I could do something decent

This is a damn fine idea good sir.

No offense to Boostz, but I actually don’t care for how those videos are shot. I know he was trying to keep his rogue and UI out of the way so it was all 1st person view but it was weird how the camera was always looking up at people.

I think a better format for a 39s video would be something like Method’s boss kill videos where they cycle through several different player perspectives. It would certainly take more effort across multiple players and a shit ton of editing but getting a full 10v10 gulch with discord from like 6+ of the players perspectives would be pretty epic.

Idk just rambling thoughts

Edit: iirc there was a vid with like zeiren, sub, brumble that was exactly like that as an arena montage.

That would be fuckin legit. And Im damn willing to put the work in on it. If we can field a Twin Peaks (i just love that map) war game with at least half the folks filming at a high quality (with unobtrusive UIs, which is the real weakness in boostz videos), I think I could cut something up that would be really awesome.

I'd also really love to do that with arenas for the upcoming tourney.

I play Fury, we don't need a UI, only keyboard and forehead. Sign me up.

I'm kind of against using only 1 map as a backdrop though. Possibly 2-4 cuts of different games to make the art style not just a snoozer? Maybe the POV cuts will prevent that.

None taken. The second 39 video is more along that lines, but that's multiple perspectives from multiple games, rather than multiple perspectives from one game.

The video you're mentioning is:

I totally agree, it's an awesome style. I'm just not entirely sure if it will work in a mass pvp promotional setting. Having the footage be based around 1-2 games might be less entertaining than different team setups and looking for 'good' parts of gameplay, as we did in the WoD 39 video.

Edit: The usual issue is that sending uncompressed files is a nightmare, so people sending you stuff usually compress, then once you've rendered the video, it's compressed a second time and the quality isn't amazing, compared to the author's footage which only has once. I'm not sure what the top pve guilds do in terms of gathering footage, could pay to ask. Maybe there's a lossless coded you can compress with and make sending files manageable.

From what I've read, the spectator mode line command still works, which could be used to get different perspectives from the same arena (or from multiple arenas from the same teams)

I'd just need a couple 2s or 3s teams willing to experiment with it to see if does, in fact, work.
