Leak from EU forums - it said that there would be a demo at blizzcon before that was confirmed, which lends the rest of the leak some credibility!

- Classic WoW is in a pre-alpha state, mostly all quests done. They started working on dungeons and battlegrouds.
- 17 devs are working on the game, 2 former Nost-devs for assuring authenticity.
- They don't think there will be a long beta phase.
- Only changes: Improved textures and spell effects but still using the old models. Improved view distance and colorblind mode. Battle.net will have some restrictions on PVP servers.
- 8 servers per region, 4 PVP, 2 PVE, 1 RP-PVP and 1 RP-PVE.
- No ingame shop at the start.
- Sub will be included in retail WoW or you pay less for Classic only.
- Launch about April/June 2019.
- There will be an annoucement and gameplay at Blizzcon

Trustable source: I'm dating one of the developers

I'd prefer 'buy to play' and 'ingame shop' model. 50 bucks for game enough for me and no sub like Diablo3. If Diablo3 can make profit, Classic WoW can make too. In game shop should sell only cosmetic things.

Retail players will troll Classic Community in game with the method mentioned in reddit. If we'll pay sub, retail players should pay sub for Classic too.

No thank you. €50 for a game that was released 13 years ago and I have already paid for before sounds like a bad idea. I prefer the shared sub model proposed in the leak, where classic only people can pay less and retail players get it included in their sub.

Yes, please. <3 Can't wait.

If isn’t included in the current sub it will bomb over the long term.
I don't agree. I believe very big percent of retail players won't touch Classic. A small group will probably play till lvl 20-30's and quit. Classic and Retail costumers are two different markets. Classic community is similar to Warcraft3 and Starcraft Broodwar community. Small but dedicated...

Have a wonderful day

We saw similar voices before Oldschool Runescape was released. Look at it now.

i read sumthin like it would be based on patch before c'thun, does that mean no nether leg armor for lvl 19? when i started playin twinks back in BC those made a huge difference, like 3x HP and 4x attack power compared to levellers

so you willingly want to pay more money to plizzard for a game from an era way back when nsync was a thing?

With a shared sub model I pay exactly €0 more than I do now, since I already sub for retail most of the time. And I feel like it's only ethical not having to pay again for classic access which I bought a decade ago. But yeah Blizz may think otherwise.

WoW and OSRS are not really comparable. Classic WoW (a mandatory sub game) tends to stay as it was in 2004-2005 in a static state. OSRS (not mandatory sub) is a very dynamic game with frequent updates.

If isn’t included in the current sub it will bomb over the long term.

/cheers

Agree beboba!

That’s why I stated “long term”.
If Blizzard can’t make money on it, they will pull the plug. It would be foolish of them not to.

How do you define long term? 10 years? 20? I'm saying Diablo series managed to live for years, why not Classic wow?

Can you give more details Crystal? Asking because I don't have any idea. Did they add new content and completely died? Zero profit?

Where was it stated that Classic won't be updated?

OSRS adds content based on community voting. Everybody above a certain level who is also currently a member (ie paying a sub) can vote on updates, and an update needs 75% to pass. I think this is a very very healthy way to progress an old game and so far OSRS has grown and easily outgrown RS3, which is the "current" game like BFA.

What I'm saying is: if blizzard adapts this system, I believe Classic would keep growing and eventually become more popular than whatever current wow is at the time.

Also, I'm very very very surprised to see so much negativity towards classic and people interested in it. After experiencing osrs I expected current wow to be mostly abandoned by the community

@Crystalpall Thanks mate, this was very informative. The system you told us about looks amazing. I'm ready to pay 50 bucks for Classic but I won't give a single penny to retail expansions. Retail players will learn to respect Classic players. They've attacked vanilla topics for years in official forums like idiot teenagers.

People calling it "retail" and then "Classic" as if Blizzard's version of Classic is some sort of private server is quickly becoming a pet peeve of mine.

I'm just going to laugh about the people who thought this would take til 2022.

So, where u want got clefthoof leather? Or just recipe? ;) its BC thing.. In vanilla u can use only armor patches and arcanums..

Also paying just for 6 days 39€ is ridiculous :D

They already said numerous times from the get go it's going to be Patch 1.12, because it "Represents the most complete version of the game.". 1.12 is generally considered the definitive Classic patch and experience, so it was a good choice.

By 1.12, about 90% of the bugs were fixed and the game was at it's most stable during Vanilla. 1.12 also had the best setup for talent trees, and many other things were at the perfect medium.

And the $50 / 39€ is not strictly for the Classic Demo. I'm not sure why people have that impression. This is for the full Blizzcon online pass, which includes the Classic Demo. And it's the same price it is every year.
