Level 20 vs level 29 in BFA

Level 20 vs level 29 twinking in BFA.

Is there any benefit between one or the other, or will they perform relatively the same in instanced PVP?

Level 29 will have more spells, but some might say you can get a better build with scaling at 20. If you’re p2p, it might be best to go 29, because a lot of the 20s are f2p/vets. So they have a lot of pride in the grind of gearing a Twink with the added challenges. Either way, you can have good builds with both.

29 has more spells and gear options
20 can be played without a sub

Thats more or less it when it comes to ipvp. 20s might have some scaling in wpvp/pve.

Thanks for the quick replies.
Makes sense to me. :)

everyones pretty much on the ball on this

20s for free
29s for more spells

i'm a p2p 20 (technically veteran) because I find there's generally more 20s hanging around (in my experience) than 29s because of the free aspect.

and my OCD just says 20s a cuter number than ugly 29 (and sadly thats not rly a joke)

if you want the highest advantage in ipvp i'd go 29.

I have two of each(two 20’s and two 29’s) shaman. Two resto shamans of for each faction. All four are geared/enchanted nearly identical. My 29’s have perhaps 5-8 more spellpower in instanced PvP than my 29’s.
I prefer playing my 20’s over my 29’s to be perfectly honest. No particular reason really. Other than maybe the secondary stats are a little better.

/cheers

The big jump is in true f2p vs geared up previously (f2p vets or otherwise) toons. The high level enchants and grandfathered items can make a big difference vs dungeon/bg crate blues/greens and vanilla lvl 100 enchantments (Minor Impact yahoo!). So much so I am almost considering paying a sub to get some goodies.

Not to mention 20s take less time to gear/level.

In some cases the gear is practically the same due to the scaling system. My 20/29 Resto Shamans have practically the same gear. My 20/29 MW Monks have practically the same gear. Resto Druids too if I had them.

/cheers

Most grandfathered items aren’t that significant. I actually swapped all of my grandfathered items off of my toons for newer drops because of scaling and item set bonuses.

Be careful of banked exp if you do this. F2P get banked exp that is automatically applied to them if they get a sub. So if you've been at 20 for any significant amount of time, getting a sub may level you to 21+.
