Money or love? Trippie red

Instead of just making statements, how about we see some credibility? Perhaps some numbers?

kendrick and j cole's debut albums have sold 500k copies

uzi's debut album has sold over a million

what more do you need to see

however if you put the numbers of both artists' debut albums against eachother in a relevant time, the 'beats, no lyric' rappers are outselling them by far.

You also fail to take into account the streaming generation. If we're talking about old heads' debut albums compared to the new breed, the latter group has a leg up because streams and digital sales are accounted for in numbers, whereas the old heads' numbers are largely based on physical sales.

@Iild 's statement about "beat>lyricism" debuts is true numbers wise NOWADAYS because its hard to argue that with all the streaming coming into play from multiple platforms.

Like I said, streaming is a big deal. Pretty sure just listening on spotify counts.

Name some non-US rap that can even come close to holding a candle to what US rappers do and have done. I'll wait.

wait so you're comparing debut albums sales, assuming the sales then play defensive when you see the actual sales?

These 3 songs are from my favorite artist, Joyner Lucas. Probably the best storyteller in hip hop right now. I'd love to hear some EU artist

Edit: Did I say right now? and probably? Sorry must have been typos

Yeah Joyner is one of my favorites too, great choice. Not entirely sure why you replied to me though, as I was prompting Iild to name some outside the US who are even close to being on the level of US rappers.

it wouldnt be hard to give you plenty of non-US rap that blows your soundcloud rappers all US kids are hyping out of the water, nobody said anything about all-time, so idk why you're bringing up 'of all time'

but if i linked any EU rap you'd automatically dismiss it because of the accent difference and you're already bias because you're arguing that US is still the best at rap, so unless you're seriously curious i'm not going to link you shit that you'll dismiss within the first 16

Nobody did say anything about "of all time" but when you bring up record sales and wanna talk numbers that's just whats going to get. You're just going to assume we're biased too because even you hate your own accents lmao

Im not even defending our rap, I think hip hop is complete trash, I just pulled up some credibility because you wouldn't

Jesus christ you seem unpleasant. Nowhere in any of my comments did I type anything remotely related to "all time" so I don't even know which tangent you on about.

And good job assuming my opinions and tastes edgelord. I listen to all kinds of music from all over the world, so please get on with your failed assumption that I'd automatically dismiss anything you present.

I typed in EU rap on youtube, this came up.

I think I have the stomach flu now

Oxxyymiron? Russian rapper who came to US and beat beat US battle rapper in a battle. There’s dope shit all around the globe man. I’d suggest not comparing regions when it comes to art, because it only inhibits other artists who are just as talented or hard working to be punished or swept under the rug cuz of nationalistic beliefs that no other region can be as creative as US. Just my opinion on what you said, not throwing shots. There are dope artists EVERYWHERE. Sales should not be the main focus when acknowledging rapper success, rather listening to see if they have substance and listening to their individual stories and perspectives.

Mantra, Fluent Form, Drapht, Oxxyymiron all dope artists not from US. Though I admit I am ignorant to plenty of rap, I can at least admit that you are right since the very few non US rap that I have listened to have been some of my favorite artists. Some songs from 2 of the artists listed above. Say what you will about other artists being shit after you listen, but at least have a slightly informed opinion.
