is it possible to farm mobs 10levels above you(39) and loot them? i cant seem to find any mobs over level 36. once they hit 37 its a skull icon if its a creature or humanoid. in some zones there are neutral mobs, usually animals, that show the true level. cant loot anything over level 36. has anyone tried farming silver elites with the new scaling? ive been camping one in STV but so has every level 110 on the server, so wondering why.

the loot will still scale to your level. you might hit a different loot table that will open up mogs that you normally wouldnt have gotten. but its going to scale that item to your level or lower.

this is correct
i have a few items i have ssed to show examples of this
i have some green boes scaled down to ilvl 20 and clvl req of 20
that originally were supposed to be ilvl 37 with clvl req of 32

I have seen tons of +13 ilvl items for 49’s. Probably enough to outfit an entire character. Not so many for the level 39’s. Zero for level 29’s.
I am just little concerned what will happen to these items after the ilvl squish.
 
I have seen blue BoE’s scale to level in Gnomer, also seen others scale lower but not quite to useable by 20’s. There’s a good chance that the Gnomer blue BoE’s will scale down.

For some reason though, not all the greens scale to be able to be used at lvl 20. I have a lot of mogs already, but there are a heap of scaled greens in Gnomer. I'm still looking for a Gnomer rare blue to see how that scales.

only not from gnomer
but from running around hillsbrad and arathi
need to ss it all and post it
 
All of my research and after farming about 5 epics myself in the past few days suggest that every epic from vanilla can now drop from any mob that has the chance of dropping epics. The lowest level an epic can be is 37 or 38 required - never 39 and never 49. Blue BOEs will NEVER exceed more than +1 of the heirloom item level in a bracket - so for example at 19 the heirloom I level is 24, meaning the highest a BOE can be in that bracket is 25.

This makes 30-39 and 40-49 very interesting as it means with a little luck in either your farming for the drops or farming the auction house, you can deck out your character in a bunch of epics. For example rogues in 30-39 now have access to gloves, belt and weapons being epic BIS. Warriors have access to stockade pauldrons and a bunch of 2h's i.e kang, fiery war axe etc

Not sure that this is a hard and fast rule. I’ve seen a Blue BoE +3 above heirloom level, so ilvl 28 for a lvl 20 toon.
BoP’s generally follow the +1 rule but I’m not sure exactly what the go is with BoE’s.

With Greens for instance, on a 20 I quite often get ilvl 19,23 but then higher ilvl’s which r not useable on a 20. I’ve seen ilvl 30 greens usuaebale by 25’s etc, all looted on a 20.

I might start tabulating my results and seeing if there is some sort of pattern, or ilvl range that drops depending on ur toon lvl. I think it may also depend on dungeon / world drop etc.

Sorry I should have been clear - Bue BOES will never exceed the max heirloom level of a bracket by more than +1. It's true that they can go +7 and +8 but it will never go more than +1 of the max heirloom in a bracket. For example the max item level in 20-29 a blue boe can be is 35, no more.

That doesn't appear to be the case. It looks like there are some world drop BoEs that might no be scaling properly. Someone linked a lvl 19 cloak with ilvl of 28 IIRC. These are NOT dungeon zone drops (like shadowfang) - but world drops. Unfortunately, they don't scale coming out of chests - so they are very hard to farm and verify.

What I said holds true acutally for I believe you are talking about the firebane cloak, but that was level 20. Once again some items can go +8 that is true, but ultimately in a bracket it will never exceed more than +1 the highest level heirloom.
 
how can something go +8
but never exceed +6?

like a cap that only gets hit at lvl 29?
so a 20 can get +8 to blue boe but a 29 is stuck at +6?

i dunno
if no 29s post any blue boes at +8
than i guess we can go with that
