Probably already lost their IP prior to having the proxies or never bothered with the hassle of getting one. There are ways to proxy yourself without paying a dime, but depending, it might not be as effective as using some of the paid services. It's just sad that one has to proxy themselves to avoid situations like this in the first place.

The funny thing is, if those who DDOS doesn't use a proxy themselves, they're fucked. And if they DDOS one with enough resolve and skill to track it back even if they do proxy, welp rip. They'd basically need paid proxy services themselves to be secure enough.

DDOS'ing is actually a huge crime since it can go under a lot of things, such as media censure and of course the most obvious one being the computer misuse act. Depending on where you are, and the severity, penalties varies from fines to a wide range of prison sentences.

People should keep in mind that you aren't as anonymous on the internet as you might think... And that goes for everyone...
 
I've never been ddosed because, among other ways of being proactive, I let the douches in the 19 bracket know up front I'll 100% be at the FBI the next day pursuing criminal charges.
If it ever does happen, I'll happily take the first step to send some punk to jail.

Right, so if you were to be in a tourny vs ddosers for a decent cash money prize pool, they won't ddos you, take the loss, forfeit potential prize money; because you're "not their enemy".

It's naive to believe people don't do bad things just because they like you. People that will ddos are generally void of basic human morals. They're no different than thugs robbing senior citizens because they think they can get away from it.
Once they see one of their lives ruined due to real world consequences, the crimes should subside. Being nice won't be what stops it.
