Church is pointless.

Just go to church with your best friend mate, you don't have to participate. 1 hour per week won't hurt ya

Druiddroid is right on this son. Don't do it for yourself if you don't believe, do it for your partner. Having a healthy partnership in life all about compromise. It is a key to long lasting relationships.

every week my wife wants me to go to church and I think it's pointless... do you really think god is smiling down on us as we gather inside a building singing the same like 15 songs every other week and cycling the same conversations about the same old shit like every 4 months? Good... everybody here loves god and believes jesus died for our sins... but why seclude ourselves? Jesus life's work was to get out there and spread the good word about his father to people who don't know and need saving. That's what WE should be doing.

Jehovah witnesses get a lot of shit for being different than other churches but they're the only ones getting out there continuing jesus legacy and doing his work. Most of them literally spend 40-160 hours a month going door to door offering bible studies on any subject to any willing person.

People refer to them as a cult... but isn't it more like a cult so seclude yourself to people of the same believes as you. It seems to me jehovah witnesses are the opposite of a cult.
Just wait until you find out she listens to country.
Indeed most people find comfort in rituals. I've recently started to find it quite curious.
I'm currently interested in the life of Rasputin. That guy got all the bitches.

Going to Church is pointless if you don't feel like you're getting anything out of it. It won't help you in your "afterlife" because the chance of it existing is smaller than it not existing.

Just curious.. Is it possible to get banned from church? Like being drunk in church, smoke, insult/make fun of their fake god, etc...

Exactly! If you're not getting anything from it. Then you are probably taking something away from yourself by going. Like a negative image, a bad feeling, a bad taste in ur mouth etc...

If god hates gays why did he put the gspot in my ass? checkmate god-believers

in 20,000 BC the second most pleasurable thing you could do was take an enormous dump. For that to happen you had to be patient, bulding layer upon layer of shit in your bowel and what did this mean?... that the shit was in ur body for a longer period of time so u could maximize the juice extraction process leading to a stronger human who had enough spare time between hunting to preach the ways of god. All because the great man put the gspot in ur ass checkmate mthrfckr

Going to church has nothing to do with pleasing God or making Him smile. Why do people stream into a football stadium to watch two teams battle it out, or into an arena to watch a boxing match? They go to see their favourite team or boxer perform? Why do people go and see a rock concert? They go to see someone they appreciate or passionately follow. People will happily sit 3 hours through a rock concert or 2 hours for a football match.

Why do people go to church? Because they go to see the One that saved them and freely granted them eternal life. For it is written, 'For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." [Matthew 18:20].

I truly don't understand how you think that gathering together for 2 to 3 hours a week is seclusion? What about the other 160+ hours you have in the week?

Now, with regards to the matter I believe you are really asking about in this thread........If you want to know what serving God looks like, it's simple. Live a life of love. Now what does that look like in your case? You are a husband and soon to be father. Now to serve God you simply need to be the best husband you can be, the best (soon to be) father you can be, the best employee you can be, the best friend, the best son, the best brother etc you can be. That is serving God. It's not about running from door to door trying to knock people on the head with a Bible. Your very life should be a living Bible, so when people see your life they see the Bible and the love of God. That's how you serve God. Not everyone is called to be an evangelist, a pastor etc. Even if someone is called to be a minister of some kind, it doesn't give them an exemption from fulfilling all their other duties like being a good husband, father etc. You simply serve God by loving all those around you.

And what does love look like?

'Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.' [1 Corinthians 13:4 - 7] ;)

TL;DR One way- Jesus!

Whether you go to church, or not, is immaterial. It doesn't change the fact that He sacrificed Himself save us all, from the dinosaur overlords.
