Bored of WoW? Sick of Blizzard making the game too easy? Come try GW2.

Title.

If you're a PvP fanatic like myself, I'm sure you've come to hate what Blizzard has done and is continuing to do with balance and classes. I recently decided I'm done with WoW and have devoted a bit more time to playing a different MMO. After playing a little bit of everything, I decided that GW2 was definitely the best of all the others.

To get started; the game is completely free and gives access to all of the vanilla content. If you do decide you like the game enough to invest a little into it, pick up the Heart of Thorns expansion and it will grant you access to several new zones along with Elite specializations for every single class. Other than the expansion, the game is not P2W. They have an in-game store similar to what Blizzard has but has TONS of different cosmetic skins to pick from. The game itself is extremely beautiful and has really awesome particle effects to go with some of the weapons/abilities.

If you're strictly interested in PvP; You don't even need to level the traditional way. Once you complete the first quest and reach level 2, you can open the PvP tab and enter the PvP Lobby. Upon entering, you are scaled up to the max level and have all of your abilities unlocked. Gear plays no factor what-so-ever so you are equal to someone who's been playing since launch. They currently have Hot-join, Unranked, and Ranked game-modes. The MMR system is comparable to LoL. Right now is the best time to get interested in it, all classes have their roles within the PvP game-mode, and overall balance is pretty good.

They also have WvW if thats what suites you more. WvW is comparable to AV or Ashran style gameplay. The maps are rather large and you can run in giant groups and complete objectives for Rank-ups or you can "roam" solo or in smaller groups and find other similar groups to take on.
Note: WvW does require gear and some grinding for your Elite specialization build unlocks.

If any of you have any interest, don't hesitate to send me a PM here or add me in GW2: Kahr.7862
I'll assist you in any way I can, be it helping you learn the basics to get yourself on your feet or explaination of how the game works.

Hope to see some people give it a shot, especially any of my btag buds :)

Useful resources:

http://gw2crafts.net/

Very similar to wowprofessions websites, tells you all the materials you'll need to level to max crafts and approximately how much it will cost.

http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki

VERY useful resource for the current, most used builds. If you're having a hard time getting to grips with a build, this will definitely help.

Problem with the game is that it's not popular. No one cares if you get high elo. So there's no incentive. You can't even elo boost and make a healthy living.

You're playing WoW twinks. I fail to see your point.

And for the record: if thats all that concerns you, there is speed runs through raids and fractals for in-game gold that you can turn around and sell for a healthy amount on https://www.playerauctions.com/guild-wars-2-gold/

Been meaning to check out GW2. Where they've taken WoW at this point it's time to say cya Blizz.

Downloading...

Been playing GW2 for around a week now and let me tell ya... this game's pvp is intense.

I spent 30 minutes on a castle wall along about 20 players shooting down arrows, conditions (aoe), mortar shells, and cannon balls onto a troop of 30+ enemy players trying to ram our gate down. A trebuchet in a distant enemy keep ended up destroying the whole wall we were on. The enemy got in, we died. 10/10 would do again.

I play a Ranger Druid. I strongly suggest watching BalougaTV's channel Kahr mentioned above. Videos are made in Wow terms and explains everything beautifully.

To all you LotR fans, World vs World is basically like the battle for Helmsdeep

The only people left playing twinks at 19 are the folks known to be the "best" at their class in this bracket.

They refuse to play at max level because it sucks going from feeling like you're the best to being above average lol.

Nobody gives a shit about above average!

Decent game. A lot to learn but hey it'll be fun, w/o the bullshit shenanigans.

So a hearty and heartfelt 'F.UCK YOU' to the pack of serial liars Ion, Lore, Celestalon, Ornyx etc. at Blizz and especially that condescending prick Hoelunky. And all you cheating/scripting pathetic neckbearded skidmarks in WoW. /1-finger salute

Cheers to Zatox for starting the thread.

For me, half of the fun is actually having to learn again. Glad to see you're giving it a shot, I'll add you here in a few.

i played guild wars 2, and it's a lot of fun. i bought the expansion, did pvp, crafted ascended armor, did fractals, decided not to raid or wvw. it kind of felt like i'd beat the game at that point. i ended up coming full circle and back to 20 twinks, after taking break, playing in different brackets, and different games.

guild wars 2 is fun, but i got real tired of the whole boon stacking thing. if you haven't played it, it's hard to explain, and sounds real fun at first, but it's not, and gets old real fast. pvp meta gets stale after awhile, as class stacking is a thing in guild wars 2 also.

alll-in-all, i'd recommend it, as the total investment in the base game + expansion is not that much, and you'll have a game that you can queue for pvp in, and not have to worry about gearing.

cmon, its an mmo and you know theres no such thing as "beating the game" you neglected half of the game and unless you consitently placed in the top tier playing against the top tier players you definitely didn't get any completion out of it. the meta changes every season. I belive the previous season had tons of unkillable bunkers and condi, this season is much more power build focused.

class stacking is an issue, but that comes with any mmo. the beauty of this though is if your team is too heavily stacked with a certain class you can quickly change to a different class by going back to the character selection screen before the game actually starts, something WoW doesnt offer.
