EU+US Am I at a disadvantage for missing the Legion event?

I have a twink in this bracket. I used to play on my twink a lot during Cata and MoP, but didn't really log on during WoD or the beginning of Legion. I'm thinking of returning, but it would appear that most twinks in this bracket are using gear dropped from the Legion event. I'm assuming it's BiS? Would I be at a disadvantage? Any way to overcome it assuming that's the case?

EDIT: Problem has been solved. I confused Legion event drops with PvP rare drops.

If you have high ilvl gear you will be fine. We are talking ilvl 25 gear.
 
Heirlooms are ilvl 25 if you are level 20. You can find green gear that are lvl 25.
 
So I did a little comparison, and based on this example, it looks like I'm out of luck. The Legion drops seem to be better on average then the next best alternative.

No, actually you are looking at rare drops from PvP Crates, which are available now and probably even better than the Legion warforged gear. You are good to go!
 
You're no really at a big Disadvantage, random bg gives rare you ilvl 28 gears( if you're 20 twink) like Boots,Chest,Legplates and wrist, Weapon and Ring. They are BiS compared to some of your old blues from quests

+10 warforged gear from invasion outclasses most blue pvp gear when it comes to raw primary stats. Secondary stats don't have as much variety as bg gear does, but can sometimes be better if it's crit/haste. But in the end, I've seen some 20s with full big blues beat full +10 warforged. The stat difference is considerable, but full blue can still pack a punch if you get the upper hand (duels of course)

That said, pvp blues with "of the adaptable" can be pretty prime.

Not if warforged gear have +15 ilvls. Blue pvp gear +8 ilvls. nothing better than legion gear stat wise at 19, 20 or 29.
pvp blue gear is best option as there is only handful of people who actually got all +15 ilvl gear + difference is minimal.

They were +10, not 15. It's pretty standard for an item to be 25 or 34 for a lvl 20/29.
 
For 20 here's how the gear works:

BoA:
Item level 25

Legion Fel Gear:
Item level 25
Rolls for a chance to be warforged, 30.
Warforged rolls again for a chance to be 35.
Items include: helm, shoulder, chest, wrists, hands, belt, legs, boots, and weps.
No longer available. They talked about bringing back invasions at Blizzcon but we are unsure to what capacity, zone, and if that includes gear.

BG Crate Gear:
Drops green of ilvl 24
Has a chance to upgrade to blue which is 28.
Items include: chest, wrists, legs, boots, rings, weapons and shields.


Takes 10 item levels to upgrade stats 1%. Not a huge difference in BGs.

How big of an advantage does a 29 have over a F2P/Veteran 20 in this bracket? I don't want to start subscribing again but I don't want to be gimped.

Almost nothing. Abilities are probably the only thing. And that depends on class but someone like warrior would probably enjoy having pummel and heroic leap. But it doesn't make or brake it.
 
Invasion gear doesn't unbind that s key apparently. Youd get like 1% increased performance from invasion gear. Maybe 2%.
