Was AWESOME! Really really solid war movie, though it did feel a bit lighthearted at times, probably would have been better had that been avoided but still a solid 9/10

I honestly think it's the only way they could've gone. The 'Happy Ending' is that the Death Star Plans made it out and to the Rebels, but at a MASSIVE cost.
 
really enjoyed it, the first act felt really weirdly paced/shaky and I thought I wouldn't like the movie. It all pulled together extremely well; the last half was unrelenting. The editing and writing, story beats wise, were godly. I'm guessing they had to trim bits at the beginning in order to have enough time to do justice to the later sequences. The robot dude was a victim of this, I thought the character didn't work at all at the start but once things got going he fit so much better.

Seen a lot of criticism of the CGI characters but what else could they have done? They weren't used in an excessive way imo. People have also said there was too much fan service/wink-wink-nudge-nudge moments but as someone who isn't really into Star Wars books/tv etc I didn't notice them.

They pulled away from the space-opera style somewhat and it was really cool to see Star Wars with a different tone. It did feel like a war movie at times like you said Conq.
 
Probably my favorite star wars movie yet.

I was very pleased to finally get closure as to why the Death Star was designed with a major flaw. Tied everything perfectly.

Did anyone else LOVE the Asian bromance happening between Baze and Chirrut? I found their deaths the saddest of all.

At about 3 minutes before the ending, I realised they were going to tie up the movie with the opening scene of the 4th movie, which at this point I got shivers and got super excited. As the scene progressed it got clearer and clearer, and at the point where Lea made her CGI appearance I just lost it and was basically jumping out of my seat.

Love how they tied so many plotholes together in this movie.

Anyone else notice the encounter with the 2 criminals on Jedha?


And how can we go without mentioning Darth Vaders amazing massacre. god. perfect.

I KNEW I RECOGNIZED RED LEADER!!!

He's the actual Red leader from A New Hope!! hah! same actor!

From what Ally mentioned earlier, I was really hoping for a darker movie (Disney had to re-edit the movie to give it a less dark tone) as from what Mon Mothma says in A New Hope, a LOT of people had died getting the plans.
 
Apparently there was an alternate ending that was replaced with the one we saw, where they actually make it out back to a rebel ship. As they transfer the information, Darth Vader boards their ship and kills them all. Though it sounds bad ass, I think the pay off with how it ended in the movie really was the right direction to go, since we still see Darth Vader kick some major ass.

Only sad part is, if you watch Rogue One and then 4-5-6, Vader's fighting goes from smooth and scary to stick figure-sque lmao old fight scenes.

M8 this film is as realistic as a 4 year old boy shooting and killing people with a milk bottle. Other than the original episodes this series has gone to shet m8.
