Yes, Blizz usually refers to it as "Frost", probably because most of its damage comes from Frost Fever while you patiently wait for your next rune to be available. (I'm just salty because Blizz decided to kill a spec I really enjoy)

I didn't really farm the event, but I got socket cloak for my mage, the rest was shrug worthy. However, I am very glad for the unexpected upgrade.

You can also go for Cataclysm gems if you want an specific secondary stat, but those are 4 Int/4 Secondary, instead of 5 Int /5 Critical like those you can acquire from the pvp vendor, so it is something to consider.
