I wanted to make this Guide from Day 1 of the Invasion but frankly it takes a while to get as accurate information as I could so that it's a 'go-to' source for Twinks wanting to kit out their Characters with a full set of Fel-Touched Armor and Weapons as well as what you can buy from the Illardi Vendors.
So, you've come back to WoW just before Legion's release date and you heard someone talk about an Invasion but you just can't figure out what to do and feeding Chat Trolls isn't your cup of tea? You have come to the right place, this Guide will cover everything you need to know in regards to Legion Invasions complete with Screen Shots.
*F2P's please head over to @aislingyngaio Guide HERE.
*There is also a general info Thread started by @artonkn HERE.
*My original Thread that details Twink Gear obtainable through this Event HERE.
THE WHAT
- Legion Invasions: Spread out across 6 Zones, 3 on Eastern Kingdoms and 3 on Kalimdor. 6 per Continent are up during any given Invasion Window.
- Spawn timer: Every 2 hours, 12 / 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 10...
- Loot Lockout: Every 2 hours, every Character on your Account can do all 6 Invasions once each. Nethershards are always Lootable, regardless of how many back-back Invasion you complete. They also drop from the Named Elites.
- Loot: Comes as Nethershards (Currency Tab), Small Chest (end of Stage 2) and Large Chest (end of Stage 4). The Chests can contain up to 4 items at once. RNJesus is no more kind for these Chests than any other randomly dropped items. Warforged comes in 2 flavors, +5 iLvL and +10 iLvL (+10/20 for 90+) and the drop rates are: 2/5/10% (2% being +20 iLvL at 90+).
- Fel-Touched Armor: Static Stat layout and scale to your Character Level, slightly better than BG Crate Gear if it procs Blue, except Bracers are identical other than different Secondary Stats.
- Fel-Touched Weapons: Fairly low drop rate from either the Small or Large Chest.
Currently there is a bug that doesn't allow Tank Spec Paladins/Warriors to receive any Loot so change to Holy/Ret or Fury/Arms.I can now confirm this ONLY Effects Paladins and Warriors, not Druids or Monks. This has been Hotfixed, Prot Loot Spec'd Warriors/Paladins now get Gear.
- Lag: It's either non-existent or Potato, luck of the draw I guess. *This has improved in the final Week pre-Legion's release.
- Hostile Zone: During the Invasion ALL NPC's are friendly to you, that is until about 30 seconds after the Stage 4 Boss dies, if you don't get out, you die.
- Transmog: While you can mog OVER the Legion Gear, you cannot mog it ONTO another item unless you are Character Level 98, sad Panda.
- Low Level Twinks: While we kill about 3-5 times faster than geared 100's, we can still be 1-shot by certain Boss mechanics so watch for telegraphs.
- Participation: Levels 10-100 (5-9 in Dun Morogh) can phase into the Invasion, acquire Loot and purchase items from the Illardi Vendors.
THE WHERE
- Azshara (Kalimdor): Just outside Org's Gate.
- Northern Barrens (Kalimdor): Crossroads.
- Tanaris (Kalimdor): Gadgetzan.
- Hillsbrad Foothills (Eastern Kingdoms): Tarren Mill.
- Dun Morogh (Eastern Kingdoms): Karanos.
- Westfall (Eastern Kingdoms): Sentinel Hill.
THE WHY
- Achievements: 2 FoS, 1 for defeating 1 Invasion, 1 for defeating all 6 Invasions.
- GF'd Gear: Players will NEVER be able to acquire the Legion Invasion Gear after it's over. Now that it Warforges, there's an even better reason to get it.
- It's fun: No seriously it's a ton of fun, especially on Low Level Twinks.
- GF'd Consumables: Only 1 of the 3 items is actually useful post Invasion and even then you can only hold (5) of them, ever, and that's the "Bandage" that's really just a HoT.
- Flowin' Gold (later): Purchasing the Felbat Pup to sell well after the Invasion has ended is a great way to make big bucks in Game. *Debatable at this point due to there being VAST amounts of them in Player's Coffers due to the XP Leveling Parties and Twinks farming +10 iLvL 24/7.
THE HOW
- Jump on a FP and fly your ass there, no really.
- You can Multi-Box several Accounts at once to speed up the loot gathering process, I've done all 3 of mine but Lag can be an issue.
However, as long as you tag a mob here and there you can even be dead when the Stage 2/4 Bosses die and receive a Chest. You can just be AFK in the Zone and get Chests.
- As soon as you enter the effected Zone you start (usually) in Stage 1, but I've come to a few and it was already Stage 3.
- The NPC's phase and scale to YOU, that means a Level 10 fights Level 10's (12 for Named) and we utterly destroy them.
- Fel Hacker
- Fel Lord's Warmace
- Eredar Splitter
- Hellfury Longbow [so, so bad]
- Wyrmtongue Spiteblade
- Corrupted Argus Gavel
- Inquisitors Wand
- Eredar Battle Blade
- Fel Barbed Spear
- Glaive of the Fallen [only Purchasable Weapon, 100 Nethershard, BoA].
