I wanted to make this Guide from Day 1 of the Invasion but frankly it takes a while to get as accurate information as I could so that it's a 'go-to' source for Twinks wanting to kit out their Characters with a full set of Fel-Touched Armor and Weapons as well as what you can buy from the Illardi Vendors.

So, you've come back to WoW just before Legion's release date and you heard someone talk about an Invasion but you just can't figure out what to do and feeding Chat Trolls isn't your cup of tea? You have come to the right place, this Guide will cover everything you need to know in regards to Legion Invasions complete with Screen Shots.

*F2P's please head over to @aislingyngaio Guide HERE.
*There is also a general info Thread started by @artonkn HERE.
*My original Thread that details Twink Gear obtainable through this Event HERE.

THE WHAT

  • Legion Invasions: Spread out across 6 Zones, 3 on Eastern Kingdoms and 3 on Kalimdor. 6 per Continent are up during any given Invasion Window.
  • Spawn timer: Every 2 hours, 12 / 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 10...
  • Loot Lockout: Every 2 hours, every Character on your Account can do all 6 Invasions once each. Nethershards are always Lootable, regardless of how many back-back Invasion you complete. They also drop from the Named Elites.
  • Loot: Comes as Nethershards (Currency Tab), Small Chest (end of Stage 2) and Large Chest (end of Stage 4). The Chests can contain up to 4 items at once. RNJesus is no more kind for these Chests than any other randomly dropped items. Warforged comes in 2 flavors, +5 iLvL and +10 iLvL (+10/20 for 90+) and the drop rates are: 2/5/10% (2% being +20 iLvL at 90+).
  • Fel-Touched Armor: Static Stat layout and scale to your Character Level, slightly better than BG Crate Gear if it procs Blue, except Bracers are identical other than different Secondary Stats.
  • Fel-Touched Weapons: Fairly low drop rate from either the Small or Large Chest. Currently there is a bug that doesn't allow Tank Spec Paladins/Warriors to receive any Loot so change to Holy/Ret or Fury/Arms. I can now confirm this ONLY Effects Paladins and Warriors, not Druids or Monks. This has been Hotfixed, Prot Loot Spec'd Warriors/Paladins now get Gear.
  • Lag: It's either non-existent or Potato, luck of the draw I guess. *This has improved in the final Week pre-Legion's release.
  • Hostile Zone: During the Invasion ALL NPC's are friendly to you, that is until about 30 seconds after the Stage 4 Boss dies, if you don't get out, you die.
  • Transmog: While you can mog OVER the Legion Gear, you cannot mog it ONTO another item unless you are Character Level 98, sad Panda.
  • Low Level Twinks: While we kill about 3-5 times faster than geared 100's, we can still be 1-shot by certain Boss mechanics so watch for telegraphs.
  • Participation: Levels 10-100 (5-9 in Dun Morogh) can phase into the Invasion, acquire Loot and purchase items from the Illardi Vendors.

THE WHERE

  • Azshara (Kalimdor): Just outside Org's Gate.
  • Northern Barrens (Kalimdor): Crossroads.
  • Tanaris (Kalimdor): Gadgetzan.
  • Hillsbrad Foothills (Eastern Kingdoms): Tarren Mill.
  • Dun Morogh (Eastern Kingdoms): Karanos.
  • Westfall (Eastern Kingdoms): Sentinel Hill.

THE WHY

  • Achievements: 2 FoS, 1 for defeating 1 Invasion, 1 for defeating all 6 Invasions.
  • GF'd Gear: Players will NEVER be able to acquire the Legion Invasion Gear after it's over. Now that it Warforges, there's an even better reason to get it.
  • It's fun: No seriously it's a ton of fun, especially on Low Level Twinks.
  • GF'd Consumables: Only 1 of the 3 items is actually useful post Invasion and even then you can only hold (5) of them, ever, and that's the "Bandage" that's really just a HoT.
  • Flowin' Gold (later): Purchasing the Felbat Pup to sell well after the Invasion has ended is a great way to make big bucks in Game. *Debatable at this point due to there being VAST amounts of them in Player's Coffers due to the XP Leveling Parties and Twinks farming +10 iLvL 24/7.

THE HOW
  • Jump on a FP and fly your ass there, no really.
  • You can Multi-Box several Accounts at once to speed up the loot gathering process, I've done all 3 of mine but Lag can be an issue. However, as long as you tag a mob here and there you can even be dead when the Stage 2/4 Bosses die and receive a Chest. You can just be AFK in the Zone and get Chests.
  • As soon as you enter the effected Zone you start (usually) in Stage 1, but I've come to a few and it was already Stage 3.
  • The NPC's phase and scale to YOU, that means a Level 10 fights Level 10's (12 for Named) and we utterly destroy them.
Please see Post #2 for detailed Pictures about where to go for Invasions. If you are a more visual person and would rather watch a Video on the subject check out Mmrrggll Gaming's YouTube video:

You can get a great look at the Legion Weapons in Wowhead's video below. Be warned though, the Bow is a giant stinking Turd compared to the rest of the Skins. **According to a post on Wowhead, click this > HERE, a Player supposedly talked to a GM at length and only 10 of the original 20 Weapons actually made it into the Game. I can personally confirm after ~1600 Chests since WF was introduced that the listed Weapons here do in fact drop. These are:

And now for some smexxy modeling of the Armor sets.

Here are detailed Screen Shots of exactly where to go for Each Invasion. Horde park your Toons in Crossroads so it's reasonably easy to get to all 3 Kalimdor Invasions. Alliance park yourself in Kharanos for the same reason.

Here's a SS of the Captive Wyrmtongue (Illardi Camp Vendor for Nethershards). It also shows that even Level 10's can not only see the Vendors but purchase from them as well.

For those wondering yes, you can Cage the 150 Nethershard Felbat Pup to sell at a later date. You can have 3/3 of these learned and as many Caged as you like.

Side note, the 2 Addons you're going to ask about are DejaCharacterStats (top pic) and Battle Pet BreedID (bottom pic). I won't create links to Curse as their website is known for having embedding issues. Here's the Felbat Pup in action thanks to Wowhead:

PURCHASED CONSUMABLES

  • Felstone: Unique (5) - Cost 3 Nethershards each. 5 minute Buff to add good extra damage at Low Levels, but lasts only 30 min of actual Game time.
  • Potion of Fel Protection: Unique (1) - Costs 3 Nethershards. Reduces damage taken by 10%. You can have only 1 at a time but they don't disappear like Felstones do after 30 min.
  • Battle-Mender's Dressing: Unique (5) - Costs 1 Nethershard total. This is NOT a Bandage and can be used in conjunction with Bandages. It is instead a HoT for 10% of your total Health per second. These also have no duration so you can save 5 per Character.

Hey man this is excellent. Here are some links to the gear, if you want to throw them in here:

Here's all the weapons (scroll down to comment):

Here's all the gear sets:

Some of those weapons don't drop, if it says depreciated up at the top good chance they aren't in game. The staff I've never seen for example.

You can have 3 felbats, buy them all for resale!

Also prot warriors receive no gear, I think it's all tank spec'd classes.
I get gear as a Guardian Druid, with loot set to Guardian so maybe it's only Plate Tank Classes that are getting screwed? I will check my Level 10 Monk later today and test if it is in fact only Plate Tanks that are bugged for loot.

Wanna get the plate for my paladin. hopefully I'll have time before the two weeks are up.

I will add those Gear links tonight. So far for Weapons I've got the Bow (fml), Blade (Warlock), Wand (Disco), Polearm (Monk)

BTW, for those interested. BM is OPAF against the Stage 4 Boss. I just Tanked 2 and sat there watching Level 100 "Tanks" Taunt the Boss off me (I had threat 90% of the fight) and they would get rekt in 4 hits then the Boss would go back to me lol. With the single Heal, Effuse, that BM's have access to at 10, it's literally a joke as long as you don't get in the way of the Telegraphed "I keel you now" Abilities.

Theres a comment here sayign he got this on his prot warrior...
http://www.wowhead.com/item=141594/fel-hacker#comments

I received no loot the first time and Bend did like 3 invasions and got nothing each time... so not sure. Could be bad RNG?...
I've been Prot every single time, but I changed my Loot Specialization from my Character Portrait to something else, now I get loot. I've been Tank spec and Tank Loot Spec on both my Druid and Monk and get loot fine, it seems to be only Plate Classes effected by the bug.

Quick RNG question, are we supposed to delete the gear with mastery on it so we can get the crit/haste stat gear?
Because as soon as I get one piece of gear with certain stats that's the exact stats I get for each additional piece of gear of the same type. Or dose my RNG just suck?

The Invasion Gear is static, there are no other choices like the BG Crate Gear.

I don't know who spread the bullshit about prot spec'd warriors not receiving loot, but I've been receiving loot since Thursday as Protection, including the 1H Axe.

What's your Loot Specialization set to (from your Character)? I ask because I too always do them as Prot but I received no loot until I changed the Loot Spec to something other than Prot while still set in combat as Prot.

ah ok thank you, a bit disappointed but at least gearing each toon dose not seem as bad now

I would suggest keeping (2) of each item per Character because the Gear can never be acquired again and you may decide down the road to have 2 or more differently Enchanted 'Sets' for PvP/WPvP/Swag.
