EU+US tinksCount | Lvl 19 Horde & Alliance Counter | Auto-Queue BG & Arena

Sputnick

Made in EU
Hello everyone,

I've been talking with Mayron, a relatively known addon developer, and he agreed to develop an addon that could be useful to the community.

The addon will basically count every Lvl 19 from your friend's list, and display it as "A: xx | H: xx" left to the 'Recruit A Friend' button.

The addon is currently in Alpha phase, but unfortunately there's something with the Blizzard UI that we need to figure (it's currently counting same-server players only).

Alpha Phase:

Features that could potentially be added in the future:

- Twink Counter (Horde & Alliance); (Check)
- Shared friend list database for Addon Users (the more users, the better); (In Development)
- Detecting who's queued on BG's and Arenas (Addon Users Only); (Future Feature)
- Auto queue on WSG/Arenas when logging on and when leaving BG/Arena (On/Off Option); (Future Feature)
- External Feed for Twink Counter & Queue Graphics; (Future Feature)

We're testing it at the moment, and when the problem is fixed we will send it to a staff member or Admin for testing and security purposes, then we'll put a download link for the general community.

Okay so basically i have spoken to a fair ammount of 19s about an idea that has come to mind and many agreed that i should post something about it on TI, (Just for the record would like to say i have no idea if such thing is even near possible, it is purely based on curiosity)

At the moment we seem to be having the problem where people are having constantly to 'id spam' into letting others acknowledge that there are people queuing for a potential for a BG pop, but with this it is almost impossible to be 100% accurate on knowing how many people are queuing and on which faction, as not everyone has every ID for all the twinks in the 19 bracket.

So with the the obvious part out the way, what i was going to propose/ask is would it be possible to create an addon that is available to download which would have a system where by it would recognize a level 19 with locked xp being online which would then transmit to possibly a website, or in game addon feature which would be available for all twinks who have the same addon to view.
Once logged on to your character (19 non exp) you would then be registered onto the addon which would show The Number of people online per FactionThe Number of people qued for a bg from each faction (Alliance/Horde) and if there is a battleground in progress
(E.G. Number of alliance online (7)Number of Alliance qued (4) and Vice-versa for Horde. This would allow people to have an idea of the activity at the current moment and if it is worth queuing or not.

On top of this it would also be useful if there was a live chat system implemented with this addon where you have a panel or channel with usernames of which rather than just watching the que numbers go up it would allow a chat system to prompt people to que etc (Or simply social chat like a guild channel) without having to look at posts which are not "live". Of course if possible this wouldn't be the final verdict on the addon and there would have to be improvements/developments but if something along those lines merged, it could be deemed as quite useful and an easier way to 'save' the bracket.

Not sure if this is a ridiculous thing to post, but i know if such thing were available/possible i would defiantly prefer it aswell as many others i have spoken to, so i might as well get everyone's perspective and get it out the way!

If anyone has any way in which they think something along these lines may be possible please contact me via PM as well as any posts http://www.xpoff.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.png

That sounds like a wonderful addon.

Thanks for taking the initiative.

damn cant wait for this! you're the real mvp, Sput :D

Is the eventual goal to capture cross server RealIDs?
Does/will it "capture" and auto add friends from RealIDs or is this just based on friends lists similar to the F2P addon?

It's meant to share your friend's list (online Lvl 19s) to a general database, so the more people using the addon with Lvl 19 friends, the better.

We're currently only testing it on a single friend's list (doesn't have a shared database), and we bypassed the problem that was only counting same server players, but unfortunately it's not displaying every Lvl 19 player from the list (somehow it's not showing all the players from the list). We're working on it tho.

would be nice if its configurable as to what bg/arena stuff it queues. also is it counting all horde/alliance or just ones your level?

For the moment, just Lvl 19s on Ally and Horde (A: XX | H: XX).

if it would be possible having the addon specifically count who of your level is on that would be great for more than just one bracket :)

After we fix the issue that's not displaying every Lvl 19 correctly on the friends list, we might add multi-bracket option. It's still very raw and not working properly, but there's a lot of potential for the addon besides counting numbers on each faction.

Nice idea. Will this data be made available outside of the game as well? Even if it's just a basic json feed on a page somewhere. I'd love to be able to grab real-time data like that and display it on xpoff, 19pvp, etc.

I think it would be cool to be able to see what the queue situation is like even if you're not logged in. And possibly keep track of these queue numbers over time, record how many games pop each day, when they pop, peak hours, etc.

All of this. But other than that, it sounds like a really promising AddOn!
Keep it up, and thank you for your dedication.

That's actually a great idea. I don't think that's something hard to implement, and also having some daily/weekly/monthly insight on peak hours shown as a graphic or simple numbers. That's something to consider.

On a side note, we got the first feature to finally work, after some failed attempts. The interface is still a bit raw, it's not aesthetically appealing, but it's working at the moment.
